April is the time when the restaurant opens at 12 o'clock, and when I visited Kameoka, I found this soba restaurant on Tabelog. I called around 11:30 and made a reservation after being told that there were available seats. As I was the first to arrive at the parking lot, I spent some time playing by the nearby riverbank where the cherry blossoms were beautiful. Soon, people started gathering in front of the restaurant. Perhaps they thought they could visit without a reservation because it's Kameoka. Many people seemed to have come without a reservation, and the staff told them that there would be availability after 2 o'clock, causing many to leave. I'm glad I made a reservation!!! I ordered the Spicy Soba (1000 yen), Duck Soba (1680 yen), and Seasonal Tempura (500 yen). The food took a while to arrive. While waiting, I snacked on the seasonal tempura. By the time the soba finally arrived, it was the end of the first round of seating (4th group), and the first group had finished eating. The soba was carefully made, had a nice aroma, good texture, and was delicious. The spicy daikon was honestly quite spicy, but the tingling sensation becomes addictive. The Duck Soba had a rich duck broth and was delicious. The standout was the soba broth's richness. It had a good balance of freshness and depth, likely packed with soba's nutrients. Soba broth contains water-soluble plant proteins, water-soluble vitamins (B group, C group), polyphenols (isoflavones), plant fibers, and the antioxidant rutin. It's good for the skin, enhances fat burning, and regulates the intestines. If you value your time while visiting Kameoka, I recommend making a reservation to be the first to enter the restaurant. This will ensure a smooth experience, especially for those with children. At the time of payment, I overheard a customer talking to the owner, saying they had been wanting to eat here for about 2 years but never had the chance due to full reservations, so they were glad to finally make it today. In any case, reservations are a must! The restaurant was clean, time passed leisurely, and enjoying delicious soba during lunchtime was an invaluable experience. Thank you for the delicious and carefully crafted soba. Grazie Mille!

I had lunch at "Mugishoku Kimura" in Kameoka! I had the "Kago Mori Tempura" (500 yen) with bamboo shoots and bracken tempura, delicious! I also had the "Zaru Soba Two Servings (with spicy grated radish)" (1800 yen), the soba was delicious! Both servings were so tasty! Ah, it was delicious!

After enjoying cherry blossom viewing at the Nana Tani River in Kameoka, we visited this restaurant. There is a contract parking lot right in front of the store, so it's convenient for those coming by car. I called ahead because I saw online that they might be sold out, but they still had availability and even reserved a table for us. The exterior of the restaurant looks like a regular house, so it's a hidden gem. Upon entering, you take off your shoes. You can see through the glass the process of making noodles. Inside, the warm wooden interior creates a cozy atmosphere. The first floor has three tables and three counter seats, but the high ceiling makes it feel spacious. Since it was just the two of us, we were seated at the counter. The menu is simple, offering only two types of soba: mori soba and spicy grated radish soba. We ordered the mori soba for two, which was a good deal, and also added the recommended tempura assortment from the blackboard menu. The tempura consisted of enoki mushrooms, rapeseed blossoms, bracken, and mushroom stems, all fried to perfection and served with salt. It was delicious. The soba noodles arrived after we finished the tempura. They were separated into two portions, each with its own bamboo strainer. The noodles were cooked just right, firm and with a good texture. The broth was light, allowing the flavor of the soba to shine through. I found it just right, but if you're really hungry, you might be able to handle two portions on your own. The broth was light, so adding soba-yu (hot water used to rinse the soba bowl) created a comforting drink. Although the service may not be as attentive for solo diners, the staff was very polite and the experience was pleasant. I heard that on weekends, the second floor is open, and you can enjoy a view of the distant mountain cherry blossoms, so I would definitely make a reservation and come back for the view and delicious soba. Thank you for the meal.

I had been curious about a soba restaurant for a while. I tried calling a few times but couldn't get through, and once they were closed for a break. On my way to shopping in Kameoka, I crossed Tsukiyomibashi Bridge and saw their sign - they were open! I hesitated for a moment, thinking I had just eaten soba, but I didn't want to miss this opportunity. I quickly turned the steering wheel towards the parking lot. When I saw the "Open" sign, I was so happy! Even though I hadn't made a reservation, there was one table available. I ordered the mori soba, and since I was dining alone, I could enjoy a leisurely meal. The restaurant was clean and the soba noodles were delicious. Despite having just eaten soba recently, I enjoyed this meal very much. I regret not coming here in the past two years. I asked the owner why they weren't answering the phone, and they explained that they handle everything alone, so they can't pick up calls when the restaurant is open. I had assumed they were closed due to the pandemic, but that wasn't the case. I decided that in the future, I would call ahead to make a reservation before visiting. There is also a delicious bakery called Tsukiyomi near Tsukiyomibashi Bridge, so now I have a two-stop plan to look forward to!

On a regular weekday before 1 pm. I once tried to visit this shop but couldn't find the parking lot, so I gave up. The shop itself looked like a private establishment. This time, I still couldn't find the parking lot, so I had to ask the shop. There was a large contracted parking lot nearby, and when I found out about it, I understood the meaning of the sign for the parking lot in front of the shop. I felt sorry being the only customer there while enjoying the soba noodles. The interior of the shop had a warm wooden feel, but I had to take off my sandals to enter since I was wearing them. The soba noodles were thin, just the way I like them. The dipping sauce was poured from a small jug. The soba broth was slightly thick, but overall, it was delicious!

After visiting Izumo Taisha Shrine, I visited this restaurant. It seems that they are currently operating by reservation due to the pandemic. Even though I didn't know and just showed up, they kindly accepted me with a "Please wait a moment." Thank you. The owner was running the place alone. I ordered the Mori Soba and the Spicy Oroshi Soba. The soba had a strong aroma and a great texture to chew on. The dipping sauce was also delicious with a deep umami flavor that felt very comforting. I am grateful for the owner's kindness. Thank you for the delicious soba!

Today I had to work in Kameoka. It was too hot, so I decided to have some light soba noodles for lunch!!! I had a choice between Mori (plain) and Karashi Daikon (spicy radish). Although I was tempted by the spicy option, I ended up choosing Mori for my first time. It was delicious soba noodles with a refreshing texture. The interior of the restaurant was also clean and stylish, creating a nice atmosphere.

I went on an expedition to Kameoka. The place was a bit hard to find as mentioned in reviews, but I had asked beforehand so it was okay. When I arrived, there was only one group ahead of me, so I wrote my name on the waiting list paper and waited for a while. I ordered the large portion of duck soba! First, I tried the soba without any dipping sauce. It had a firm texture despite being very thin. Quite delicious! The duck broth had thick slices of duck meat, green onions, and the tender richness of the duck paired perfectly with the crunchy texture of the green onions. I finished with soba broth and left feeling great. I would like to try different soba dishes next time, but if I'm short on time... it might be difficult. Thank you for the meal.

A truly hidden gem of a soba restaurant. It feels like it's run by an experienced owner. The menu is simple but the soba is elegant and delicious. I love the texture, aroma, and smoothness. I definitely want to visit this place at least once a month.

The other day, on my way back from Izumo Oyamajingu Shrine in Kameoka City, I stopped by a place called "Soba Kimura" for the first time. The location was a bit, well, quite hard to find. I circled around the residential area twice, and was honked at loudly by a car behind me. In that sense, it's like a hidden gem... The exterior was different from what I expected, and the interior was very clean and tidy. You have to take off your shoes before entering. The air conditioning was on, but they also had blankets for those who get cold easily, which was a nice touch. Since it was my first time, I ordered the "mori soba". It seemed to be a special New Year's menu for January 9th. The soba noodles were made of 80% buckwheat flour and had a delicate flavor with a refined broth. The soba water served afterwards was light and delicious, but... I felt like the amount of broth was not quite enough for me (maybe I'm eating it wrong...) and the condiments too... (^_^;) But I was satisfied enough and went home happy. I will definitely stop by again on my way back from visiting the shrine.

Today, I went on an expedition to Kameoka City in Kyoto. It's a city I don't visit often, so I was excited. I finished my errands early and started looking for a lunch spot. Oh, there seems to be a nice soba restaurant near JR Saga Arashiyama Line Chiyokawa Station. Alright, let's head there. It's located along the Katsura River, tucked away in a residential area without big signs, making it a bit hard to find. After circling around twice, I finally found it. There is a parking lot a bit far away, but I didn't want to bother looking for it, so I parked at a coin parking lot and walked to the restaurant. I arrived around 11:55 am. I took off my shoes at the entrance and changed into slippers before entering. The interior was elegant and calm. There were no other customers, so I sat at the counter with three seats. The owner was handling both cooking and serving. I checked the menu, but decided to order the large serving of mori soba as planned. The soba was served in a round sieve. It had a moderate firmness, and when you chewed it, the flavor of the soba spread out, with a smooth texture that was enjoyable. It paired well with the refined and luxurious dashi broth. A second serving of soba was brought out later, maintaining the freshness. I finished by drinking the soba broth, feeling happily satisfied with my hunger. The taste of authentic hand-made soba after a long time was exceptional. Thank you for the meal.

This is "Kimura," a soba restaurant in Chiyokawa, Kameoka City. I actually tried to find this shop once before and came all the way to Kameoka, but I couldn't find it because I only roughly researched the location and ended up giving up and going to a different shop. At that time, I didn't think it was along the Oizumi River, and I was searching mainly around the first street by the railroad tracks, so I missed it. This time, I did more research, but still overshot it once. There are no signs along the way, and the small sign of the shop is easy to miss from the opposite side of Tsukiyomi Bridge. There is a parking space for one car in front of the shop, but it is labeled "small," so half of the car protruded onto the sidewalk, and I had to park in a nearby riverside parking lot. There is space for one car on weekdays and three cars on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. It's close to Chiyokawa Station, so it's convenient to come by train. The photo is of the "mori soba" for 850 yen. It has a lovely aroma and a refined taste. The broth was also delicious. They also have "karashi oroshi" cold soba for 950 yen. A large serving is an additional 250 yen. They also offer side dishes like grilled miso and duck loin, as well as warm soba dishes from late autumn to spring. The location is a bit hard to find, making it a hidden gem of a shop. The interior has a high ceiling and a refreshing space with a scent of wood.

Youth 18 ticket, second round. I went to an unexplored station on the Kosai Line and returned from Kyoto Station to the Saga Line. Let's try to conquer another unexplored station for lunch. I wandered around the area between Sonobe and Mahori. I have already conquered Kameoka, so let's try a different station for lunch. This is a place where you can drink alcohol in the cold weather. The Moon-Reading Bridge over the Yasu River has a romantic naming. It was not easy to find the restaurant near Chiyo River Station, but after circling the town twice, I found it. I was the only customer after 1:00 PM, so I enjoyed a leisurely meal. I ordered warm sake, grilled miso, and grilled tofu. Unfortunately, they were out of fried tofu, but the grilled tofu was delicious. The grilled miso had a nutty flavor from the Japanese pepper and walnuts. I ordered two servings of warm sake, and when it was finished, I ordered another one along with duck roast. The soba noodles were served cold and in a large portion. It was a luxurious meal. It's not too cold despite it being the end of the year. It's a great restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Visited "Soba Kimura" in Chiyogawa, Kameoka City. It is located a 5-6 minute walk from JR Chiyogawa Station, near Tsukiyomi Bridge in a residential area. The restaurant has a white exterior with a sign indicating it is a soba restaurant. Inside, there is a soba making area and a cozy space with a nice wooden scent. I ordered the duck soba, which came on a red tray. The soba was made from 80% buckwheat flour from Ibaraki, with a light green color and a smooth texture. The duck broth was well-balanced and paired nicely with the soba. The dish also came with sliced duck meat and grated ginger as condiments. The meal ended with soba water served in a small cup. Overall, it was a delicious and enjoyable dining experience.

Kyoto Kameoka Chiyokawa. It is located in a very difficult-to-find place. It blends in with ordinary houses, making it even more difficult to locate. However, this adds to its charm. The interior of the restaurant is a renovated house with a wooden scent and an open ceiling. The seating, including the counter, can accommodate about 10 people. It is just the right size for one person to manage. The soba noodles are likely made from a mixture of 80% buckwheat and 20% wheat. They are fresh and have a beautiful greenish color. The meticulous soba cutting reflects the personality of the owner. The soba, typical of Hitachi's autumn soba, has a refreshing and pleasant texture. If there is one thing to point out, it would be the lack of impact. The most surprising thing is that the large serving is equivalent to two portions for an additional 250 yen. Moreover, the two portions are served one at a time at a cost of 1,100 yen. The value for money is outstanding. With a limited menu, this place is highly recommended for true soba lovers.

Visited during lunch on a day off. I had tried to come here before but it was sold out. Atmosphere: The simple and understated sign at the entrance, the interior design of the restaurant, the menu, everything had good taste. As soon as you step inside, you can smell the scent of wood. Food/Taste: The dishes are relatively light. The noodles are cooked perfectly with a nice texture, and the broth is flavorful and pairs well with the soba. The wasabi and other condiments are freshly grated, giving a unique aroma in the mouth. The attention to detail is appreciated. The portion size is slightly small. Service: Neither good nor bad. Value for Money: The prices are not cheap, but you can enjoy a delicious meal in a lovely atmosphere.

In Kansai, the culture is mainly focused on udon, but Kyoto is an exception with its soba culture. I found a hidden gem in this area that I was determined to explore. Located about a 5-minute walk from Chiyogawa Station, nestled in a residential area between houses and the Chiyogawa river, you might wonder, "Is there really a restaurant here?" When I arrived around 1 PM, there were no other customers. It truly feels like a hidden gem. Upon entering, I took off my shoes and put on slippers, and was greeted by a warm, wooden interior with a high ceiling. Despite being open for about 2 years, the place was still immaculate. There are table and counter seats available. From the menu, I chose the most basic option, the "mori soba" in a large serving. After a short wait, the soba arrived, neatly cut into thin strands. It didn't have a strong flavor, possibly due to the 80:20 ratio of buckwheat to wheat. The soy-based dipping sauce was slightly strong but not overpowering. The soba paired well with it, and I enjoyed it with the various condiments provided - grated radish, wasabi, and green onions. Personally, I found that dipping a small amount of grated radish into the soba and eating it without soaking in the sauce was the most delicious way to enjoy it. After finishing the second serving, I ended with soba-yu, a light and clear broth. While I prefer a thicker soup, this one was still enjoyable. Overall, I would rate this experience a 4.5 out of 5. However, it seemed like the restaurant might be more of a hobby for the owner, as the soba sign had disappeared by the time I left, indicating that they may have closed early. It's possible that they don't prepare a large quantity of food, so I recommend visiting early in the day.

A shop quietly operating in a residential street, blending in with the surroundings. The only sign is the sign at the entrance. It has been around for about two years now, and the interior of the shop is very clean and beautiful, unchanged since it opened. Plenty of wood is used, giving it a warm feeling. The menu consists of only a few items, with a focus on carefully prepared soba noodles. There are also seasonal limited-time menu items, and this time I tried the "kama-age soba." I'm not a soba expert, so I can't describe it well, but it had a chewy texture different from regular zaru soba, and the flavor was very delicious! I also received a side dish of simmered red beans as a service, which had a perfect seasoning and was also very tasty. The portion of soba noodles is slightly small. Other customers were eating two types of soba noodles in a row (lol). That might be a good idea too.

I learned about this restaurant from a food blog and decided to visit it since it was close to where I was working. The restaurant had a simple layout and was quiet, creating a relaxed atmosphere. They only had three menu items, which I found refreshing. I ordered the mori soba and when I took the first bite, it was delicious! I finished it in no time. It was the best soba I had since I tried the soba in Shiga Prefecture at Fujimura. The aroma, taste, umami, and how it paired with the broth were all exceptional. I wanted to order the grated radish as well, but when I asked the owner, I found out it was served as "bukkake" style, so I decided not to order it as I don't like that style. The next day, I went to Fujimura in Shiga to compare the soba. Both owners are young and I hope they continue to refine their craft. Thank you for the delicious soba. I will definitely visit again. I have been visiting once a month this year. The soba is still delicious even at this time of year. The spicy grated radish soba is served in a "bukkake" style, but now the radish is served separately, without bonito flakes or green onions. This way, the flavor of the soba stands out more. The aroma may be overshadowed by the radish, but the umami of the soba is more pronounced, and the taste becomes sweeter. It's a joy to be able to eat this soba at this time of year. The soba soup has also improved. This restaurant is always evolving and I look forward to visiting again. Last month, on my way back from northern Kyoto, I arrived around 1 pm but they were sold out. They have a yearly contract with a farm in Ibaraki, and this year they had more soba than expected, so they have limited the quantity until new soba arrives. Today, I arrived in northern Kyoto and made a reservation in advance. I ordered the mori soba and spicy grated radish soba, and enjoyed some duck breast and non-alcoholic beer while waiting. The mori soba was perfect, with a great aroma and flavor. The soba arrived just as I finished the duck. The spicy grated radish was served with fresh radish today. It was extremely spicy, making me sweat. Personally, I think a bit less spiciness would be better for this soba. In the summer, the spiciness was just right, enhancing the flavor and sweetness of the soba. Many soba restaurants serve new soba at this time, but they are waiting for the new soba from the farm they have a contract with. I think it will be available around the beginning of the year.

This is a soba restaurant located in a residential area near JR Chiyokawa Station. It opened on December 24, 2008, so it seems like a relatively new establishment. The owner, who trained at soba restaurants in Tochigi and Shizuoka, has opened this shop in the local area. A friend who is knowledgeable about such things recommended this place to me after visiting Takurotei. Despite the lack of information available online, I decided to trust their recommendation and visit the restaurant. It was a bit difficult to find the location as it is completely integrated into the residential area, making it hard to identify as a soba restaurant from a distance. Upon entering, you take off your shoes and sit at the counter. The interior has a unique charm with exposed bolts in the ceiling beams and the use of raw materials for the walls. I ordered the mori soba (750 yen), which was the only item on the menu for the day. The soba was served with dipping sauce, green onions, wasabi, and was deliciously simple. The aroma of the soba was strong, and the texture was smooth. The dipping sauce had a slightly spicy soy sauce flavor, which complemented the soba well. Although the portion was small, the reasonable price made it acceptable. The soba broth was light and flavorful. Overall, I think this restaurant is a hidden gem with good quality food, and I look forward to returning to try other items on the menu.
