My partner wanted to visit this restaurant, where you can enjoy lunch by grilling various ingredients on a shichirin (Japanese charcoal grill). We arrived just before the opening time at noon, after making a reservation over the phone in the morning. As we sat down, we ordered the most popular daily special, which was already set up with a shichirin filled with charcoal, along with a hot towel and tea. It was a very hot day, so the ice-cold towel and tea were very much appreciated! The tray that was brought to our table was filled with small dishes - 3 types of shellfish, 3 types of fish for grilling, 4 types of meat, grilled vegetables, sashimi, mozuku seaweed, salad, pickles, rice, and miso soup. Later, we were served fish head soup. The variety of dishes was overwhelming, and it was hard to decide where to start. I decided to grill the shellfish first, and also tried some sea grapes from the sashimi plate, which turned out to be delicious! The sea grapes were accompanied by sea urchin underneath, and there were scallops, shellfish, shellfish liver, sea bream, tuna, and salmon on the sashimi plate. The quality and quantity of the food were impressive. The rice and soup were delicious, and the grilled shellfish and seafood were cooked perfectly. The grilled fish was light and served with grated daikon radish, yuzu pepper, and herbs, which complemented the flavors well. As we continued to enjoy the meal, we noticed other customers ordering refills and the staff getting busier. I decided to get a second helping of rice and enjoyed the salad, which was refreshing. The mozuku seaweed was also tasty, and the texture was enjoyable. The grilled meat was tender and flavorful, and the chicken was also delicious. I wished I had ordered some sake to go with the meal. Overall, the experience of grilling and enjoying a variety of dishes was fun and satisfying. The dessert, mitarashi dango, was a nice way to end the meal. Grilling the dango myself was enjoyable, and the honey sauce added a nice touch. It was a delightful lunch experience, and I would definitely consider trying the chicken lunch next time.
