I finally visited a bagel specialty shop that I had been curious about for a while. In the Marutamachi area of Kawaramachi, there are many bakeries, and even a bagel shop across the street. It's a fiercely competitive area. When you enter the shop, you'll see a variety of bagels spread out in front of you, making it hard to choose. In the back, there are cream-filled refrigerated bagels available. Since these have cream inside, they are priced similarly to regular half-size bagels. Since one was large and we wanted to share as a family, we cut it into quarters after taking a photo, and then warmed it up in the microwave just before eating. - Lemon Sugar: 330 yen This is one of the new summer products. It's a bagel made with lemon peel in the dough, with lemon peel rolled in, and sweetened lemon slices in the center, making it a refreshing summer bagel. - Sugar Butter: 270 yen I bought this for my eldest daughter and husband, but wow, this was incredibly delicious! I'm so glad I bought it! We ate it with amazement. - Coffee Cream & Cookie: 380 yen This is a product in the refrigerated showcase. It's a coffee bagel dough with coffee cream, chocolate cookies, and mascarpone cheese inside. It's a sweet bagel that makes you crave coffee. As you bite into it, the top and bottom bagels shift, so I had to adjust the position with my hands while eating. - Keema Curry: 360 yen Another new summer product. It's homemade keema curry spiced up with cumin and coriander. It's not too spicy, but has a nice spicy aroma, making it perfect for a hearty breakfast. However, my husband found it to be too spicy for his liking. - Wiener: 250 yen I bought this for my husband who isn't a fan of bagels. However, it's made with bagel dough and has a satisfying texture, which he enjoyed. He said it was delicious.

"RABBIT BAGLES" is a popular bagel specialty shop with three locations in Kyoto city: Kawaramachi Marutamachi, Fuyacho Rokkaku, and Porta. Their bagels are made with a healthy dough that does not include butter, milk, or eggs. It's nice that they display the baking times in front of the store. Inside, you will find a variety of bagels freshly baked every morning, including some unique options. I purchased one of their signature bagels, the Sugar Butter (270 yen). It was soft, fluffy, and generously sized. It had a nice aroma of fermented butter and the crunchy sugar added a nice touch. It was very delicious and satisfying.

I have used this place several times. The atmosphere of the shop is very nice with a sense of style. Most of the items are priced over 300 yen, so I feel like it's a high-end bagel shop... but I always end up stopping by. The bagels here are big, with a bit less filling, but they are soft and delicious. On this day, I bought cheese and fig cream cheese. I highly recommend the fig cream cheese! I have never bought anything from the refrigerated showcase because it needs to be eaten on the same day, but they look delicious, so I'm curious. The pink plastic bag for the rabbit bagel, which you can get for 5 yen, is cute. It would make a great souvenir gift.

On this slightly rainy day, the damp wind clung uncomfortably to the skin, raising the discomfort index! After taking a breather by the Kamogawa River, I made my way to the station. I stumbled upon a cute bagel shop! I wonder if it's been there for a while. When I checked on Tabelog, I saw that my bread-loving friend Mairebi had visited. It opened in January 2022. "RABBIT BAGELS" is a rare bagel specialty shop originating from Kyoto. They use Hokkaido flour and Okinawan salt and brown sugar to bake each bagel in the store. The shop has a trendy atmosphere and could easily go viral on Instagram! They offer both room temperature and refrigerated bagels. I chose a room temperature bagel on this hot day. The prices are reasonable for Kyoto. The refrigerated bagel sandwiches looked interesting, but I opted for a room temperature one. The texture was slightly hard but chewy, and it was delicious. It's great that you can freeze bagels for later. They seem to be expanding to Osaka and Tokyo soon!

Bacon and Pepper Bagel for ¥290, and Cream Cheese Bagel with Lamb Raisin and Walnuts for ¥370. If you eat in the store, there is a one drink minimum (¥330~). Both bagels were chewy and the fillings inside were a nice accent.

An Butter Sand - A soft sweetness with a smooth red bean cream, a slightly salty butter, and a strong aroma of mugwort in the dough come together to create an excellent taste. Cocoa Cookie & Peanut Cream - Chocolate cream mixed with crunchy chocolate, providing a moist cream part and a varied texture with chocolate. Suitable for those who find the dense texture of 100% bagel dough difficult to eat. The peanut cream is not very prominent, with just a hint of saltiness. Highly recommended! Blueberry Cream Cheese - Blueberry compote mixed with cream cheese, a simple but always popular combination. Sugar Butter - Sugar cubes mixed with butter in a fragrant dough, a simple combination of sweet sugar and butter that highlights the deliciousness. It is nice to know that they use wheat from Hokkaido, Japan, as imported wheat has been a concern due to pesticides during transportation. This shop ranks highly for their bagels.

This is a bagel specialty bakery! I happened to pass by and was intrigued, so I decided to buy some. I purchased a salmon and cream cheese sandwich and a strawberry and cream cheese bagel. Both were delicious with a soft and chewy texture! I especially liked the sandwich with the generous amount of salmon filling! I would like to buy them again! Thank you for the meal!

This is my second visit. Every time, there are so many attractive bagels that it's hard to choose! - Fruit & Cream 410 yen This time, it had strawberries, mascarpone, whipped cream, and white bean paste. It was really delicious! It had a nice mix of Western and Japanese sweets. - Fig Cream Cheese 330 yen I bought this based on its popularity in reviews. It matched well with the fig flavor. - Strawberry Rare Cream Cheese 350 yen New item. I personally preferred this over the fig one! - Earl Grey Lemon Peel 290 yen Out of the four I tried this time, this was the most delicious! I was pleasantly surprised by how well Earl Grey and lemon go together. There were a few other customers, all happily shopping around. It was a great atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.

I tried a chewy bagel with a coffee cream filling, and it was really satisfying with a generous amount of cream. It wasn't overly sweet, and the other savory bagels had a strong flavor and were very delicious! The shop also had a microwave available for customers to reheat their food, which I thought was a nice touch!

There were no clouds at all, and the weather was clear with a temperature of around 20 degrees, making it perfect for a stroll along the Kamogawa River. The ideal walking route is from the Botanical Garden near Kitaoji to Shijo Street, covering a distance of about 5 km. For a light snack or a quick lunch, sandwiches are a good option as they are easy to eat without feeling too heavy on the stomach. However, if the bread is too thin, the fillings may spill out and make your hands dirty. The bagel sandwiches here are light yet sturdy enough to hold the fillings in place, making them easy to eat during a short break. I purchased the following items this time: - Smoked Salmon Bagel (480 yen): This bagel is filled with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and purple onions. The texture is light, but the bagel itself is firm, making it a satisfying snack on its own. The capers on top add a nice touch to the overall flavor. - Coffee Cream and Cookie Bagel (380 yen): The slightly firm coffee cream complements the sturdy bagel well, with the cookie adding a nice accent. I bought two items this time, but one is enough for a light snack or lunch. The shop is conveniently located on the northeast corner of Kawaramachi Marutamachi, just a 2-minute walk from the Kamogawa River. They offer a variety of bagel types and 7-8 sandwich options, each with a different taste. This makes it easy to come back for more when in the area.

Matcha white chocolate for 280 yen, sweet potato for 320 yen, caramel walnut for 310 yen. The bagels are all delicious, but I think I still prefer the matcha white chocolate. It's satisfying on its own! Quite heavy. The bagels are baked between 10-11am, and there are many different types to try, so I want to try others too!

I decided to stop by the bagel specialty shop "RABBIT BAGELS" while walking up to the fourth street. I couldn't resist the sight of the delicious bagels lined up outside the shop. Although they offer eat-in options, this time I opted for takeout. They had a limited variety of bagels, but they were freshly baked and some were even sandwiched. - Sugar Butter: ¥250 A simple bagel with granulated sugar on top, the slightly sweet dough is delicious on its own. The dough is chewy and when reheated, it becomes crispy and fluffy, a well-balanced texture. - Bagel Cinnamon Roll: ¥290 Six small rolls gathered closely together, with a cute shape. This one has a heavier feel and a chewier texture. The aroma of Earl Grey and the addictive taste of cinnamon make it a sophisticated bagel. - Everything Bagel: ¥250 A New York bagel classic with onion, garlic, sesame, poppy seeds, and salt. When reheated, the spicy aroma spreads out. I had it with cream cheese and prosciutto, it was undeniably delicious. This bagel is perfect for making various sandwiches. - Coffee & Coffee Chocolate Chip: ¥310 Faint coffee aroma with occasional sweetness from the chocolate chips, a well-balanced snack bagel. It has a fluffy texture and was very enjoyable. I would definitely want to have this again. The dense texture of bagels is not very prominent, so even those who are not fond of bagels might enjoy them. Personally, I prefer a bit more chewiness, but that's just a matter of taste. The shop also has a second branch in Kawaramachi, and the staff recommended visiting there for convenience. So, I plan to visit the second branch next time.

Currently, bagels are a hot topic in the bakery world. I tried takeout options for both savory and sweet varieties. They were both half the size of a regular bagel. The savory one was filled with thick slices of smoked salmon, providing a satisfying bite. The sweet one had banana, custard, and peanut cream - it was dangerously delicious. You can also eat in on the second floor.

I found a bagel specialty store while walking to catch the bus. They also have an eat-in option. I decided to get a take-out bagel sandwich. They had a variety of options, from sweet to savory. I tried the "Chorizo" for 220 yen, which was a mildly spicy chorizo sandwich. The bagel was nice and chewy. It was pretty average, but it might have been different if I had it warmed up. Thank you for the meal.

I finally made it to Rabbit Bagel after visiting 100 famous shops in the area. I went on a weekday afternoon and there were a few customers. The cafe had a great atmosphere! I bought two items from the display case next to the register and two from the shelf at room temperature. The coffee cookie and sugar butter were delicious! I would love to go back again. The sugar butter was like Krispy Kreme donuts, and when I heated it up a bit, it was even better! It's located near the Kyoto Imperial Palace, so I thought it would be nice to buy some and have a picnic there! Thank you for the meal.

I purchased a hojicha and chestnut bagel. The next day, I had it after microwaving it! Compared to a sandwich, the dough is quite chewy. I didn't really taste the hojicha flavor in the dough itself. The chestnut paste, although only about a quarter of the bagel, was quite sweet and rich. The chestnut was moist, so this amount was sufficient.

I had a Coffee Cream & Cookie Bagel Sandwich! The bagel had a nice crunch and was not too chewy. It was generously filled with cream and the crispy texture of the cookie was great! The coffee aroma was strong from the first bite, and it was delicious! It was quite sweet, but tasty.

After taking care of some errands and picking up my car from the coin parking, I headed towards Osaka, which was about a 2-hour drive. I took the 9th route from Gojo Street towards Katsura, then onto the Kyoto Vertical Road and down to the road below Kameoka. I passed through the Minoh Tunnel and felt a bit tired, so I bought some coffee to help me stay awake! There's a bagel shop where you can sit on the second floor and enjoy your coffee while looking out onto Kawaramachi Street. It's a nice place to relax. Nearby, there's the Mitama Shrine in Teramachi where you can draw water from the well, but don't forget to make a proper offering before doing so. It's good manners! After my coffee break, I felt refreshed and continued driving for about 1.5 hours until I arrived, although it was already dark by then.

Bought the seasonal filled bagel and sandwich ○ Caramel Banana Sandwich Dry, rough dough texture First impression is caramel, followed by the sweetness of banana, with lots of crunchy chocolate in the filling, which is really delicious. However, the disappointing part is the dough. ○ Hojicha Chestnut It felt like the dough was dry, maybe because it's a sandwich, but the rough texture is also noticeable in the rolled version. After taking a bite, I felt that reheating was necessary, so I wrapped it in plastic wrap and warmed it in the microwave, which helped. Kyoto is a fiercely competitive area for bagels, so there are likely many shops with better dough. The hojicha dough had no sweetness at all and was rather bitter, which might be good for those who want to taste the tea, but it was not to my liking. However, the filling in the sandwich was very delicious, so I might try that again. If the dough can reach the standard level sold in supermarkets, I think it would be undeniably delicious.

I was walking and happened to come across this shop. I bought some bread for tomorrow morning and as a gift for my daughter. I chose the bacon flavor. I don't know much about this shop, but it seems quite stylish and new. I would like to try eating here with my daughter sometime. It was delicious! The bagel sandwich looks good, I'll try it next time!

A cute bagel specialty shop with an impressive rabbit logo. In the refrigerated case, there are also adorable bagel sandwiches lined up. The plain bagel I purchased has a light flavor, a thin crust that is crispy, and a soft interior. It's best to eat it with something spread on top.
