On my way back from lunch in Higashi-Kagura, I found this place on the way back to Asahikawa. It's located around the opposite side of "Ultimor" in Higashi-Kagura. It's a somewhat modest-looking shop with not too many varieties. Their specialties seem to be dorayaki and roll cakes. Among them, the dorayaki seems to be popular with different flavors. I bought three types: "Dorayaki" (130 yen each x 2) - they had miso and white sesame dorayaki, but since it was my first time, I chose the regular one. The dough was quite moist, with sweet red bean paste inside. "Daiguri" (150 yen each x 2) - a traditional chestnut bun. The skin was a bit dry, but the white bean paste inside was good. It had a slightly sweet taste. "Azuki" (130 yen each x 2) - a fluffy castella cake with azuki beans inside. This was the most delicious one. The lady running the shop was kind, and I think it's a good value for money!

After eating soba noodles, I decided to stop by a local traditional Japanese sweets shop called "Azuki Field" on the way back. They are known for their matcha roll cakes. I bought dorayaki for my daughter who loves them as much as Doraemon. As for myself, I chose "Hijirinohime." This type of pastry has been popular from various confectionery companies for a long time. The first time I tried it was probably on an airplane as a snack from a famous confectionery company. Since then, I have liked this pastry with a moist pie-like texture filled with sweet red bean paste. This was my first time trying it from Azuki Field. It was lightly sweetened, and I felt that there was slightly less red bean paste inside. Overall, the shop offers a variety of simple and rustic sweets. Bon appétit!

[Takeout] A roadside shop located near the physical center of Hokkaido, in Machi, Kamikawa-gun, along with Altimooru Bestom, is a Japanese and Western confectionery shop known for its recommended roll cakes. They also offer their products through the Furusato Tax system in Higashikagura-cho. The shop is located right by the intersection with Hijirino Odori on Route 294 (Higashikawa Higashikagura Asahikawa Line). Visited for the first time around 1 pm on March 16, 2019, after having lunch at Altimooru and finishing shopping. Found a confectionery shop across the road while waiting for the bus to Asahikawa Station, so decided to stop by. Although the roll cakes were highly recommended, I wasn't sure if I could finish them today, so I opted for three items with a longer shelf life. The dorayaki was delicious, with the dorayaki roll cake being a specialty. The fresh dorayaki batter was also tasty. The shop might be good at making fresh dorayaki as well. The red bean paste was just right in sweetness, not too sweet or too subtle. It reminded me of a certain character from Hijirino. The ingredients such as flour, sugar, butter, and red beans made for a clean and delicious taste. The buttery crust wrapped around the slightly sweet, densely packed red bean paste was just right. It reminded me of Hijiri, connecting to memories of Sei Chiqui's "Let's do it, Ikki!" I used to reread that often. The sweet potato-chan with tororo konbu effectively expressed the fibrous texture of sweet potatoes. This one was also quite tasty. I would like to try the roll cake as well.
