After eating meat at a meat bar, I headed to a takoyaki shop run by a Gifu-based takoyaki hunter. When I opened the slightly ajar door, I saw a counter with about seven seats facing a griddle. The person who greeted me was a super stylish handsome guy who looked like Yasuda from Kanjani Eight. I was planning to get takeout, but ended up sitting at the counter because I was so captivated by him. You can pick your drink from the refrigerator at the back, and the owner will make you shochu or highball. I tried one takoyaki on the spot, and it was crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, perfectly round, and quite large! Despite being incredibly handsome, the owner was very humble and made me feel welcome. I wish this place was closer so I could visit it more often!

I couldn't visit this place even though it's close to my home due to timing issues. A friend who had been there before took me. I had already been to two other places and didn't want to eat too much, so I asked for a small portion to eat in and ordered the sauce mayo flavor and salt flavor for takeout. They don't pre-cook the takoyaki, so you can always get it freshly made and hot. You can also adjust the cooking level to your liking. This was my first time, so I left it all to my friend. The restaurant is small with only 4-5 counter seats. You have to get your own drink from the fridge behind the seats. I had a highball while waiting. The takoyaki was bigger than I expected! They always ask to split it in half since it's hot, which is good for me since I have a sensitive tongue. The broth in the batter is flavorful, and the sauce is just right, not too sweet or too spicy. The outside is crispy while the inside is soft and hot. The shy-looking guy working there is also cute. If you want takeout, it's better to call ahead. It's close by, so I'll definitely go back!

■Visit Date: April 29, 2020■Items Received: 8 Takoyaki■MEMOVisited on April 29, 2020. The shop is located on the east side of the intersection of Shichijo Senbon. It's conveniently located next to the railway tracks. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 self-restraint, the interior of the shop is not accessible, and they are offering daily bento boxes and takoyaki. The takoyaki is freshly made on the spot without any pre-made batches. The large takoyaki balls are full of volume, soft, and piping hot. I had them for takeout lunch and they were delicious.■Blog Posthttps://ay-style.net/?p=48771

On the way home from work, I stopped by a takoyaki shop that I had been curious about. It was located on a quiet street behind the market. I ordered a large order of takoyaki to go, and I was told that they don't pre-make them, which I thought was great. They said it would take about 10 minutes. I didn't mind waiting at all. I couldn't stand waiting in silence, so I ordered a beer, but it seemed like it was self-service as I had to get it from the fridge in the back. Some people might not like this, but I personally enjoyed the atmosphere. As I sipped on my beer and waited, I decided it would be better to eat inside the shop, so I canceled my takeout order. When the takoyaki was ready, I could see that they were indeed bigger compared to other shops. They were still in good shape and not soggy at all. They had a soft and creamy texture, and I was impressed by how delicious they were. I ended up ordering seconds, this time without any toppings, and they were still delicious. Despite coming in late, there were a few other customers in the shop, and we all had a great time chatting and enjoying the food.

Hello, this is Average ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ. This is the 82nd installment of my "Compilation of 100 Takoyaki Reviews (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧" series, titled "Sauce Mayo is better than salt (^^)". Today, I visited "Kyoto Takoyaki BAR8" in Kyoto. This hidden gem located behind the Kyoto Wholesale Market is a cozy takoyaki bar that may not be widely known, but it was packed with customers even before 9 pm on a weekday.
I ordered the salt flavor this time, as I had previously tried the sauce mayo. The takoyaki here is made with a rich dashi-flavored batter and topped with salt. However, the octopus pieces were a bit small and the flavor of the pickled ginger in the batter overpowered the salt. I personally prefer the sauce mayo topping as it complements the flavorful batter better.
Here is my review:
- Takoyaki (Salt) 6 pieces (400 yen): ⭐️3.4
- Takoyaki (Sauce Mayo): ⭐️3.8
The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy with counter seating available. The prices were a bit high, but the quality of the takoyaki justifies it.
Overall, "Kyoto Takoyaki BAR8" may be a hidden spot, but it serves delicious takoyaki with sauce mayo being the recommended topping. I recommend giving it a try if you're in the area.
Thank you for reading my review, and stay tuned for more takoyaki adventures!

Hello, this is Average ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ. This is the 63rd installment of the "Takoyaki 100 Compilation" featuring "Kyoto Wholesale Market Takoyaki BAR." I visited a hidden gem called "Kyoto Takoyaki BAR8" located behind the Kyoto Wholesale Market. Despite being a quiet place, the counter was full even before 9 pm on a weekday, showing its popularity. They offer only one type of takoyaki, but they have a variety of drinks and snacks being a BAR. This time, I bought takoyaki to go. Here is my review:
- Food (⭐️3.8)
Takoyaki (8 pieces for 500 yen)
The takoyaki is large-sized with a crispy exterior and a creamy interior. The batter is flavored with dashi, making it delicious even without toppings. The sauce is the classic combination of sweet sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and seaweed. It tends to get a bit gooey when cold, so it's best to eat it while it's still warm.
- Service (⭐️3.6)
The service was polite, and they also serve alcohol.
- Atmosphere (⭐️3.6)
There are counter seats available for dining inside.
- Value for money (⭐️3.4)
The takoyaki is a bit pricey at 500 yen for 8 pieces, but considering the size, it's understandable.
In conclusion, although the location is somewhat hidden, the takoyaki at Kyoto Takoyaki BAR8 is delicious and worth recommending. Thank you for reading!

I casually passed by here as if I was lost (laughs) and decided to stop by to try the takoyaki. They were offering large-sized takoyaki with a diameter of 48mm. I decided to go for 8 pieces for 500 yen. The takoyaki was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a nice flavor of dashi and wheat flour. The sauce was not too sweet, and the octopus was well-filled. The pickled ginger added a nice touch, and the mayonnaise was also delicious. It was piping hot and delicious. I think this takoyaki would be tasty even without any toppings. They also have seating available, and it seems like they offer alcohol and other dishes as well. Overall, the takoyaki was delicious. Thank you for the meal!
