I heard a rumor about a drinking spot in Shijo-Omiya and decided to visit for lunch. When I ordered the yakisoba, I was asked if I wanted one or two portions. I opted for one. The yakisoba cost ¥500 for one serving, and it was made with cabbage, onions, carrots, and pork. There were plenty of vegetables in it. It was topped with pickled ginger and seaweed. The noodles were soft and moist, with a gentle flavor that was easy to eat. The person next to me ordered two large portions, which looked quite big! But if the taste is as good as this, it should be fine. I would like to visit again at night sometime. Thank you for the meal.

There was a sign in front of the store saying "Delicious Ohagi", so I decided to buy some to take home. However, I also started craving yakisoba after eating a large serving of pork bowl. I ended up buying yakisoba to go! The yakisoba had slightly chewy noodles coated in sauce, along with pork, vegetables, ginger, and seaweed toppings. It was delicious. The ohagi had homemade sweet bean paste, but personally, I prefer it to be a bit sweeter. I would like to try eating yakisoba at the restaurant next time!

I felt like having yakisoba for lunch, so I looked it up and found a place nearby. When I went for lunch, I was the only customer. I ordered the yakisoba, and it looked delicious with plenty of ingredients. The noodles were chewy, but overall it was a bit soggy. I prefer it to be more stir-fried for a firmer texture, so I was a bit disappointed. The portion was generous, though, so I left feeling full!

"Yakisoba?" As soon as I entered, the owner asked me. It seems like they don't waste time here. Maybe they find it difficult to handle irregular requests. I'm not familiar with this place, so I just followed her suggestion. I ordered the Yakisoba for ¥670.
Owner: "Are you interested in Ohagi?"
She asked me this because I was staring at the Ohagi displayed at the storefront. It looked homemade and very delicious. I replied, "Well, I'll get some on my way back."
It was quiet and relaxing throughout. I had some expectations based on the information from Tabelog, but of course, just ordering "Yakisoba" wasn't enough. It came with a decent portion of white rice in a bowl. I was already full. But the freshly cooked Yakisoba was really delicious. It had plenty of pork and vegetable fillings, with a sweet and savory sauce that went well with the rice.
I bought a pack of Ohagi for ¥300 (two pieces) as a souvenir for my wife. We shared them equally when we got home. The Ohagi was really delicious, not too sweet and soft. It had a nostalgic homemade taste. It seems like they always have it on display, so it's worth coming back just for this.

"Okonomiyaki Kimagureya" in Rokkenjima, is located behind "DAI'S KITCHEN" facing Shijo Street. As indicated by the entrance curtain, it seems to be a restaurant specializing in okonomiyaki and yakisoba. The handwritten menu board outside shows items like "Yakisoba Rice" (¥680) and "Somen" (¥600). The interior is quite spacious, but it seems that the okonomiyaki is cooked and served by the staff as there are no teppanyaki tables. At least during lunchtime, a middle-aged woman seems to be running the place alone, so service may take some time. However, the "Yakisoba Rice" here is not to be underestimated. The yakisoba is generously filled with ingredients and comes with yakimeshi, offering a substantial portion. The yakisoba has a classic taste and is undeniably delicious. The yakimeshi, with added sakura shrimp, is a unique and tasty addition. Despite having no expectations, I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the high value for money lunch. I definitely want to visit again when I have errands in the area. I also want to try their okonomiyaki at night to see if it lives up to the same standard.
