Japan delicious food tour. March 2018. No.687. Number of reviews: 790. About 30 years ago, when I used to wander around this area, it always seemed lively, so I decided to stop by. Huh? There's no customers here. What happened? What on earth happened? It feels so strange to see this izakaya completely empty. Maybe it's just a coincidence! The taste was neither good nor bad, leaning towards the bad side. Thank you for the meal.

The assorted sashimi platter is too cheap for its quality.

It must have been frozen, right? I couldn't eat the sashimi in Thailand. I will never go there again.

I went to this restaurant because the popular ones nearby were full. The place had tables in the front, a counter with seats, and many tatami rooms in the back. It was not crowded, and the staff was friendly. I ordered sashimi, recommended horse sashimi, and fried horse mackerel. The fried mackerel came with a special sauce, which was a surprise before the sashimi. However, it turned out to be delicious with thick meat and crispy batter. The sashimi was disappointing, except for the mackerel. The horse sashimi needed some seasoning to enhance the flavor. I switched to cold sake and tried Fukuchi Sanman Nisen Gokoku, which was really good. The assorted oden was well-seasoned but a bit too sweet for my taste. I wanted to order duck hot pot, but a couple next to me started arguing, so I left. The sake, fried mackerel, and service were good.

■10/29/2014■Visited the main store of Oyakuruma after a long time! (^_^) On days with the number 8, drinks are half price here! First, ordered a draft beer set for 1000 yen! It's a reasonable set that I can agree with! Sashimi (salmon, amberjack, octopus), rolled omelette, small horse mackerel, dried fish, and a medium-sized beer... Next... Yudofu, very filling! Warms you up. Oden, almost finished so probably a complimentary service! (^_^) Burdock sticks that my companion always orders... Switching to alcohol! (^_^) Kikusui from Niigata! (^_^) It was a quite delicious sake with a dry taste. Well, it's a reasonable restaurant with good service. Thank you for the meal.

The izakaya in Fukuchiyama overall gives the impression of being 20-30% more expensive compared to izakayas in Osaka. However, Daihachiguruma in Osaka is reasonably priced. The recommended dishes for today were the freshly caught sashimi, which was indeed delicious. The amberjack collar was a bit small, but at 400 yen, it was cheap and cooked decently, making it worth the price. The sashimi assortment was average, but the presentation was elaborate for Fukuchiyama standards. I recommend the following tasty dishes: Fried bamboo ring, and Lotus root chips.
