Located in a residential area just a short walk east from Marutamachi Street, near JR Saga Arashiyama Station, there is a charming café called Barbieri on the first floor of a three-story building with a white bay window and green plants creating a soft atmosphere. The café has a light and airy interior with jazz music playing in the background. I ordered the Almond Au Lait, which had a subtle almond fragrance and a light sweetness that helped me relax. The staff were friendly and shared stories about Kyoto and the café. The name "Barbieri" is named after a jazz musician. The café used to be called "Barbieri" but later changed its name to "Cool Beans" after reopening, inspired by a coffee shop they frequented overseas. After 7 years, they decided to return to the original name "Barbieri" based on the suggestion of their regular customers. I enjoyed learning about the café's history and the interesting journey behind its name.
