I have almost visited all the major hot spring inns in Kameoka, but I feel that Matsusono-so is the best in terms of interior design and large communal bath. The inn is designed in a way that you walk through the entrance, past the front desk, and up to the annex, with the area next to the front desk resembling a river with swimming koi fish. Throughout the inn, there are tea utensils and Noh masks displayed, showing the owner's interests. The large communal bath area has multiple indoor and outdoor baths, and it is spacious like a super sento. Despite accommodating various group guests, I didn't feel the inn or the bath area were crowded, which was nice. Dinner and breakfast are served in a tatami room. Considering the price, the quality of the food is decent, with the Tamba beef steak being particularly delicious. However, some dishes like the grilled conger eel with sansho pepper could use more attention in cooking. The balance of the meal wasn't great overall. Breakfast, on the other hand, was enjoyable with delicious dried fish and side dishes. The quality of the dinner can vary, so there are days when it feels really good. However, the cost of the inn's dinner tends to be relatively high in the overall travel expenses, so if you feel unsure about the first visit, it may be difficult to consider revisiting. Additionally, like Kizan-kaku, despite advertising that Wi-Fi is available in the inn, it may not work due to usage limits within the property. Dinner Menu: - Appetizer - Assorted sashimi (tuna, sea bream, squid, shrimp, salmon) - Lily dumpling - Grilled conger eel with sansho pepper - Tamba beef teppanyaki - Kama-meshi (rice cooked in a pot) - Red miso soup, pickles - Dessert
