There is a student cafeteria specializing in fried food within Kyoto Institute of Technology. One of the dishes is "Fujikatsu" with miso soup for 510 yen. It's reasonably priced, and the taste is average, but the freshly fried food adds to the satisfying experience. Other students were ordering the Jumbo Katsu, which looked very filling and caught my interest. I am also curious about the Chicken Katsu, so I would like to visit again.

During summer vacation, I visited Kyoto Institute of Technology for teleworking lunch. I was hoping to have omurice at the cafeteria, but it was closed for the summer break. Too bad. It was lunchtime, but since it was during the vacation, there weren't many students around. I was able to keep a good distance and enjoy my meal leisurely. I decided to go for the jankatsu (jumbo chicken cutlet) set meal, which was priced at less than one coin. The taste was better than the price, students are so lucky.

I would rate this place as follows: Food 4.0 | Service - | Atmosphere 3.9 | Value for money 4.3 | Drinks -
It is probably the cheapest katsu donburi in Kyoto, located in Kyoto Institute of Technology's cafeteria. The price is 400 yen, with miso soup adding up to 430 yen, and even a "mega" katsu donburi for 470 yen. It starts getting crowded around 12 pm, but it's still quiet around 11 am. The staff cooks the dish right in front of you on an induction cooker. And let me tell you, it's pretty good. The katsu is thick and juicy, the egg has a sweet dashi flavor, and there's plenty of green onions. They even accommodate special requests like no green onions. The taste is similar to Matsunoya near Doshisha University. The katsu is tender and easy to cut with chopsticks. The miso soup has daikon radish, green onions, and wheat gluten. Overall, I had a satisfying lunch. It's always nice to find something tasty that's easy on the wallet. Thank you for the meal.
