I went to a riverside dining experience in Sanjo, Kyoto. Last year, I had a great time at Kibune's riverside dining, so this time I decided to try out the one at Kamogawa after a long time. After passing through a very long hallway and the restaurant, I finally reached the riverside area. It was still bright outside as we started early, which allowed us to enjoy our beer outside in a great mood. The meal consisted of a total of nine dishes, including ingredients like yuba and conger eel that really brought out the Kyoto essence. The food wasn't incredibly delicious, but the location was so good that I was completely satisfied.

A lovely restaurant with a cool veranda along the Kamo River. I visited last year during my trip to Kyoto and came back again because the food was delicious. The menu had changed since my last visit, and I was a bit disappointed that the tofu hot pot was no longer available. However, from the appetizers to the dessert, every dish I tried while enjoying the riverside setting was delicious. The tempura made with seasonal conger eel was particularly crispy and tasty. I would love to visit again!

Enjoyed a Kyoto cuisine dinner at a traditional restaurant along the Kamo River while on a momijigari (autumn leaf viewing) trip. The restaurant has a rich history, having once been a tea house and later a ryokan, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The dinner course included a variety of dishes such as simmered tofu and sesame tofu, seasonal appetizers, sashimi, grilled salmon, beef steak, warm tofu with dipping sauce, mushroom and shredded dried fish rice, and persimmon and soy milk pudding for dessert. Everything was elegantly presented, diverse in flavors, and allowed me to savor the essence of Kyoto cuisine. The highlight was the trio of soy milk, tofu, and yuba (tofu skin) dishes, which were light yet packed with the smooth texture and umami flavor of tofu.

When you think of Kyoto, you think of Yudofu, right? We made a reservation for 1:00 PM and arrived at the restaurant. We were led to a spacious table and we were the only customers there. Even though the only available reservation time was 1:00 PM, it was nice to have the place to ourselves. The bento box had a variety of colorful Japanese dishes, each one carefully prepared and delicious. The tofu hot pot included yuba and when the solid fuel burned out, they kindly lit it again so we could enjoy it warm until the end. Everything was delicious, and there was even a photo spot outside that made us linger longer. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I am always satisfied whenever I visit here ❤️ We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed dining by the riverside. The seating is not in a traditional sunken kotatsu style, so we requested some tatami floor chairs. On a summer night, with a gentle breeze, the sound of the river, there's no reason not to relax. I wish there were some lights for the food though, I wonder what kind of lighting would be good.

A great restaurant along the Kamo River. Initially made a reservation for the riverside seating, but it was too hot under the scorching sun. The staff kindly offered to move us indoors, which was much appreciated. The service was excellent. Despite not being able to finish the meal due to getting lost and tired on the way there, all the dishes were heartfelt and wonderful. I would love to come back in the winter for a hot pot meal.

Located to the east of Kyoto City Hall, quite far north on Kiyamachi Street, is a tofu restaurant with a riverside terrace. We were guided through a long hallway to our seats on the second floor. In the summer, there are also seats available on the riverside terrace overlooking the Kamo River. When we visited for lunch as a party of two, we ordered the Kiyamachi Gozen (¥3250 each). This set meal included: Appetizer: Freshly made tofu Small dishes: Sashimi, duck roast, miso dengaku, tofu, grilled dish, fried dish, Nishikiyaki (grilled tofu in sweet miso sauce), rolled omelette, simmered dish Rice: Rice with homemade shredded dried bonito and sansho pepper Soup: Red miso soup, pickles, seasonal fruit The variety of dishes in the set meal was enjoyable, and we especially liked the rice with shredded dried bonito and sansho pepper so much that we asked for seconds. Overall, it was a great experience to enjoy Kyoto cuisine at a reasonable price.

I went to "Mameya Genzo" located in an area northwest of Sanjo Station. It's a quite elegant restaurant. The Kiyamachi Gozen is 3,250 yen, Tokujiro (one cup) is 900 yen, and Tamonohikari (one cup) is 970 yen. Each dish is a bit light in flavor, but delicious. However, I'm not sure if it's worth the price. The price includes the seat charge, so it's good for entertaining with Kyoto cuisine.

The atmosphere was really nice, but the staff's friendliness may be lacking... However, I had an amazing time! The seating was in the best position with a view of the Kamo River, and the food was beautiful and artistic. I'm so glad to have been born in Japan.

This is a post I want to share from about a year ago when I went on a trip to Kyoto and found a delicious tofu restaurant! While wandering around near the Kamo River looking for a place to have lunch on a riverside terrace, I stumbled upon it! I really liked the feel of the curtain, so I took a photo! We were seated at a riverside terrace table, and the weather was so nice that we were able to enjoy our lunch comfortably! We opted for the course meal and ordered a bottle of beer! Having a drink in the daytime was great. The occasional breeze was very pleasant. The appetizers were served in a stylish box, each one carefully arranged and enjoyable! I thought the decorations were really elaborate! The main dish, yudofu, was rich and creamy, and you had to scoop it gently, or it would fall apart in the pot! It was a great time to spend on a trip and I had a wonderful time enjoying it!

Located in Kamikoriki-cho, Kyoto, this tofu specialty Kyoto cuisine restaurant stands along the Kamo River. The rain that falls on the beautiful surrounding mountains of the Kyoto Basin flows deep into the ground over many years, receiving the mountains' kindness. The tofu made with this water is exceptional. The interior of the restaurant is designed in a traditional Japanese style, creating a calm and comfortable space. During my visit, I enjoyed a tofu kaiseki meal, starting with appetizers, sashimi, grilled dishes, hot pot, steamed dishes, rice dishes, and ending with a dessert. The dishes were beautifully presented in exquisite tableware and were all delicious. When in Kyoto, be sure to try yuba!

Record. I made a reservation for a family trip dinner and visited the restaurant. It was around the Bon Festival season, and we enjoyed a course meal centered around grilled eel dishes. As a student, I didn't really understand the goodness of eel at that time, but experiencing traditional Japanese cuisine that I don't usually have was a moment when I learned a little bit about Kyoto.

Dined here in April 2022. The old-fashioned Kyoto-style house along the Kamo River had a charming atmosphere. The Kamo River course we ordered was carefully prepared and delicious. One downside was that there was only one staff member, making it difficult to place orders for drinks or anything else. Aside from that, the prices were reasonable and I think it's a satisfying restaurant for a meal with others.

This is a restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine on a tatami floor, located near Ichinonyufuna close to the end point of the Kamogawa River, going up from Fushimi. It is a perfect place for those who want to experience floor cuisine during their Kyoto sightseeing. The entrance has a charming atmosphere, and after taking off your shoes at the entrance stone, you will be led through a narrow corridor to a large tatami room on the floor. From the veranda with several trays lined up, you can see the Kamogawa River. The table closest to the river is a couple's seat. Since it is a tatami room, people with knee problems should be careful. As the name suggests, the cuisine mainly focuses on tofu and yuba dishes. Although there are also dishes like hassun and sashimi, it was disappointing that there was no menu. Many of the staff at the restaurant are young part-time workers, who seem to be focused on serving dishes, as they may not know much about the menu when asked. Dining experience is important, with the view from the window overlooking the river, sepia-colored lights, low ceilings in the corridor, and a touch of Kyoto's charm all around.

Today's dinner was at "Mameya Genzou" in Kyoto City. We spent some time at the popular tourist spot in Kyoto, Pontocho.
