Last year, I was impressed by the Gion location, so this time I went to the Nishiki location. I was confident that I wouldn't be disappointed based on my previous experience, so even though it was lunchtime, I splurged on the 6,600 yen course, which was more than double the price of last time. The dishes, from the conger eel to the pickled sushi and the chiffon cake for dessert, were all delicious. The staff, about three of them who took turns bringing out the food, were all very attentive. They even expressed concern about the heat and shared some sightseeing information. I would like to use this restaurant for special occasions next time.

Head down Shijo Street towards Yasaka Shrine and you'll find a restaurant behind Nomura Securities Kyoto Branch. It's more affordable and casual compared to the shops in Gion. They even offer geisha entertainment at night for business entertainment. During the day, it's bustling with shoppers and tourists. Enter through the lattice door, walk on the water-sprinkled cobblestones, pass through the noren curtain, and arrive at the genkan. You'll be led upstairs to a communal table with no partitions. Try the Kashiwagi Course for 3,850 yen.

I used this place for an important gathering. It's a Kyoto-style restaurant tucked away in a narrow entrance, typical of Kyoto. You can quietly enjoy your meal in a second-floor sunken hearth room. The small garden view adds to the charm. The food was filling, and the sea bream rice bowl at the end was delicious.

There is a restaurant near Shijo and Nishiki Market, also located in Gion. I visited on a weekday and ordered the weekday special bento for 2200 yen. The main box included tempura, sashimi, eggplant with miso, and other dishes, along with a soup and a dessert cake, all of which were delicious. The price was also very attractive! I am grateful that it was a weekday. The restaurant is located down a side street after opening the door along the street. The second-floor tatami room had tables and chairs set up, creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of Shijo. I needed to recharge for work after this, and having a leisurely lunch helped me do just that. It was delicious! I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal!

In terms of location, the price may be reasonable, but the portion sizes on all dishes and bowls were small and unsatisfying. The problem lies in the low ceiling and narrow space. It feels very cramped when there are other customers present. Additionally, the waitstaff brings out dishes one by one, interrupting conversations. This is not a suitable place for a blind date or business meeting.

I visited for the first time. The private room lunch was reasonable, but with a total bill of over 6000 yen, I can't help but feel that it's not worth the price. The food was not bad, but I feel that it doesn't quite justify the cost. The drinks were also mixed up, and a little more attention to detail would have made the price more acceptable. The laughter and chatter of the kitchen staff could be heard clearly, which ruined the atmosphere of the private room. For Japanese cuisine, especially Kyoto cuisine, there are aspects that should be improved upon.

I went to Hanasakinishiki store located in a small alley off Nishiki Koji Sakaimachi in Kyoto. When you enter from the street, the shop is tucked away in the back of a typical Kyoto alley. As I approached the door, the staff opened it and led me into a cozy room on the first floor with a view of a small garden. Since it was cherry blossom season, the appetizer with a small cherry blossom branch was both cute and delicious. I forgot to take a picture of the meat dishes, which was a shame. Everything was delicious, but the highlight was the kamameshi (kettle rice) that came out when I was already full. It was so impressive that I had to have seconds. I chose the sea urchin and clam kamameshi from the options available. The timing of the dishes brought out by the staff was perfect.

My parents, husband, and two children visited the restaurant, making a total of six people. We reserved the Kashiwagi course lunch for ¥3300. Despite arriving earlier than our 11:30 reservation, we were warmly welcomed. We were seated in a private room with a sunken hearth, and the floor heating kept us warm. The dishes were all carefully prepared with gentle flavors and delicious. The seasonal dishes included: Hors d'oeuvre (foie gras, fugu aspic, yuba, white miso, omelette), Sashimi (tuna, sea bream), Soup (ozoni), Fish dish (grilled yellowtail with yuzu, sweet and spicy chili, mushrooms, nama-fu, nagaimo), Pumpkin steamed bun (with dashi sauce), Tempura (shrimp with mochi batter, shishito pepper, shiitake), Matcha salt and rice with dipping sauce (pickled sushi roll with daikon, eggplant, red turnip, 5-color sesame, and shiba-zuke), Soup (clear soup), Dessert (homemade roll cake, kumquat, small plum). There were a total of 8 dishes. I shared my portion with my toddler, and it was just the right amount. Our elementary school-aged child ordered the same as the adults but only ate about 2/3 of it (my husband finished the rest). The staff members were friendly and attentive, making the atmosphere very comfortable. While some may find Kyoto cuisine restaurants intimidating, this one was not overly formal. We enjoyed a leisurely meal for about 2 hours. It is conveniently located near Shijo-Karasuma Station, and we plan to visit again in the future.

Today, after going to the sauna and feeling really thirsty, I went to Hanasakisan. I asked the waiter to bring me a beer quickly, and they did so promptly, which made me happy. I drank two glasses of draft beer in a row before starting with the appetizers. The presentation was so luxurious that it almost seemed a shame to eat. The fresh sea bream sashimi was so juicy and delicious, a world apart from 100-yen sushi. The vegetable soup was also very comforting with plenty of vegetables. A unique dish was the grilled salmon with sesame sauce, which added a perfect touch. The tempura was crispy and served quickly, so I didn't have to wait long to finish my meal, which was great. For the final sushi course, I prefer seafood over vegetables if possible. It was a delightful dining experience overall.

Today, I had a dinner meeting at Hanasaki, a traditional Kyoto townhouse. The entrance is at the end of a long narrow alley, where the hostess greets you warmly. As I entered the private room, I was delighted to see a small garden beside me, it was such a picturesque scene that everyone couldn't resist taking photos. The floor was covered with a heated carpet, keeping us warm and cozy. The meal started with a variety of five appetizers. The hostess explained each dish, but I quickly forgot and just enjoyed the delicious food. Next came the sashimi, with a type of fish called Yokowa, lighter in taste compared to tuna. Following that was a steamed dish with conger eel and matsutake mushrooms, full of rich flavors. By this point, I was getting a bit tipsy and lost in eating and drinking. The final course was pickled vegetables instead of fish sushi, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience.

It's a calm private room with cute dishes. In this area of Kyoto, having a private room means anything goes. The entrance is full of Kyoto vibes. We had a kaiseki course in the private room, starting with appetizers, sashimi, grilled dishes, and simmered dishes. I've been able to list up some good places during my business trip in Kyoto. From standing bars to kaiseki restaurants, I can recommend various places. This place is definitely one of them. Thank you for the meal!

We used it for a family lunch. It is a beautiful and pleasant atmosphere. It took about 2 hours because the dishes came out slowly. If it were a little faster, we would have been completely satisfied.

A lunch in a completely private tatami room for 8800 yen. The atmosphere is calm and suitable for business meetings. The meal includes appetizers, sashimi, soup, grilled fish, grilled meat, rice (sea bream rice), and dessert. The dish in the soup was delicious. The service is relaxed, so it may take around 2 hours to finish the meal.

Even though the night may seem intimidating, I visited during the day. The entrance is equipped with disinfection and partitions. The pathway, meticulously cleaned and watered, leads to the restaurant at the back. Despite not having a reservation, we were seated on the second floor. Everything from the entrance, hallway, to the rooms exudes cleanliness and elegance. The bento boxes range from 1800 yen to around 5000 yen. We ordered a bento box which included miso-marinated grilled fish, tempura, sashimi, deep-fried pumpkin with rice, red miso soup, and a small dessert. Each dish was of high quality, truly showcasing the restaurant's top-notch status. If you sit at a table with a view of the garden, you can also enjoy the well-maintained garden. This restaurant offers both a relaxed atmosphere and high-quality cuisine. Highly recommended.

Lunch course at Aoi: 6000 yen. Includes a basket, sashimi, soup, tempura. Elegant and refined presentation typical of Kyoto. The sushi was a platter of 4 types of Kyoto vegetables, but personally I would have preferred fish. Dessert was a roll cake and fruit. It was more on the Western side... Overall, not very impressed considering the price.
