My parents, husband, and two children visited the restaurant, making a total of six people. We reserved the Kashiwagi course lunch for ¥3300. Despite arriving earlier than our 11:30 reservation, we were warmly welcomed. We were seated in a private room with a sunken hearth, and the floor heating kept us warm. The dishes were all carefully prepared with gentle flavors and delicious. The seasonal dishes included: Hors d'oeuvre (foie gras, fugu aspic, yuba, white miso, omelette), Sashimi (tuna, sea bream), Soup (ozoni), Fish dish (grilled yellowtail with yuzu, sweet and spicy chili, mushrooms, nama-fu, nagaimo), Pumpkin steamed bun (with dashi sauce), Tempura (shrimp with mochi batter, shishito pepper, shiitake), Matcha salt and rice with dipping sauce (pickled sushi roll with daikon, eggplant, red turnip, 5-color sesame, and shiba-zuke), Soup (clear soup), Dessert (homemade roll cake, kumquat, small plum). There were a total of 8 dishes. I shared my portion with my toddler, and it was just the right amount. Our elementary school-aged child ordered the same as the adults but only ate about 2/3 of it (my husband finished the rest). The staff members were friendly and attentive, making the atmosphere very comfortable. While some may find Kyoto cuisine restaurants intimidating, this one was not overly formal. We enjoyed a leisurely meal for about 2 hours. It is conveniently located near Shijo-Karasuma Station, and we plan to visit again in the future.
