I went to the third location of the Kaigentei chain, the Horiike store, for lunch. I ordered the Harami lunch set (1280 yen). It came with 120g of Harami, a good amount of rice, soup, salad, four types of kimchi, and two other side dishes. On weekdays, you also get a complimentary soft drink (additional 100 yen on weekends). The meat was tender and not too gamey, and the portion was satisfying. If you want more meat, there's a option called the Honwaka lunch set (1980 yen) with 300g of Kalbi, Harami, and loin, along with the basic set. This amount of meat might be a bit much for a lunch without alcohol.

I wanted to have a nice meaty lunch, so I decided to visit Kaiuntei in Kokura. The main store is located right next to Kokura Station, but they don't serve lunch there, so I went to the Horiike store a little further away. Kaiuntei is easy to spot with its big sign. Inside the restaurant, there are many signed boards, including ones with the Tigers logo, probably signed by Hanshin Tigers players. The interior of Kaiuntei is cozy, with sunken kotatsu seating. I ordered the "Honwaka Lunch" set, which is a popular menu item featured on a TV show. The lunch set comes with a generous portion of meat, and my friend ordered the Jumbo Harami which was also huge. The meat was delicious and satisfying, definitely recommend having yakiniku for lunch at Kaiuntei!

Located in Ogura, Uji City, is the barbecue restaurant Kaiuntei. The set menu offers generous portions, but the meat is a mix of domestic and foreign beef, which may not meet expectations. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice, but the quality of the meat falls short. This type of restaurant may be more suitable for large groups. The barbecue sauce provided is either store-bought or of lower quality, and it really affects the overall dining experience. There are two types of dipping sauces, but both are disappointing. I strongly hope for improvement in this aspect.

It seems to be a branch of Kauntei near Kokura Station, offering a variety of grilled meat, healthy side dishes with plenty of vegetables, and a wide menu selection. The interior is themed after a rakugo theater, with a chic Japanese-style design including flooring and wallpaper. The menu cards on the wall are arranged in a humorous way, resembling rakugo performers' stage names (e.g. Kei Hanami for flower-cut beef, Tawara-ya Ishiyaki for stone-grilled bibimbap, etc.). During lunch, I had the Stone-grilled Oyakodon, while my friend had the Stone-grilled Beef Tendon Kimchi Don. We also ordered Hormone dishes like Hoso, Hachinosu, and Mino. The meat prices seemed slightly more reasonable compared to Kauntei. The lunch started with a plate of appetizers, salad, pickles, and simmered dishes, offering a variety of flavors, and the vegetables were delicious. Unfortunately, my Stone-grilled Oyakodon did not sizzle as expected due to the stone not being hot enough, resulting in a soggy dish. On the other hand, my friend's Stone-grilled Beef Tendon Kimchi Don sizzled nicely and was delicious. Despite my failed attempt to reheat the stone, I plan to revisit for dinner to try the a la carte menu and proper meat dishes. I look forward to writing a better review next time.

I love vegetable salads and yakiniku, so I had high expectations for Kaiuntei in Tennoshima. I was surprised to find that I could enter without a reservation on a Saturday evening before 8 pm. Usually, a popular restaurant like this would have a long line. However, the grill didn't seem to be working properly as the meat wasn't cooking properly. Even the tongue, which is like raw ham, didn't have a nice sear on it. It was a bit scary to eat undercooked meat like that. The dipping sauce was also lacking in flavor. The salad was a bit too heavily seasoned, but it went well with beer. The squid sashimi was quite good. The salad and squid sashimi were served in generous portions, which was satisfying. The private room-like atmosphere and thick cushions were nice. It would be a good place for a date.

The Kaientei Group is a popular yakiniku restaurant in Kyoto. The restaurant is located a little distance from the station in a residential area, so foot traffic was quiet for a while. However, after the main branch had a fire accident, customers started flocking to this branch, so it is always bustling. The seating includes a counter-like area in the middle that is not a sunken kotatsu style, but the other seats are sunken kotatsu style, making it comfortable for your legs. The tables are also quite spacious, allowing for a relaxing dining experience. As for the meat, it is truly delicious. I always order the wasabi soy sauce kalbi, which is seared lightly to bring out the flavor of the meat, and the combination of wasabi to enhance the taste is exquisite! Other menu items are also really tasty. Occasionally, it can be a downside when it takes a while for the staff to come over when you press the button. Overall, it's great to have a place nearby where you can enjoy delicious meat.

CP: ★4 I sometimes have lunch in the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture for work, but it's hard to find a good yakiniku restaurant. The good ones are only open at night, and during the day, there are only big chain stores. This restaurant is a branch of Kaiuntei in Uji City. For lunch, they offer a yakiniku lunch set for 1500 yen, as well as donburi dishes like bamboo, pine, and bibimbap. You can also order from the regular yakiniku menu, so I tried the yakiniku lunch set with beef ribs. The set includes kalbi, harami, pork belly, chicken thigh, grilled vegetables, salad, 4 small appetizers, 3 types of kimchi, wakame soup, and rice. I also ordered beef ribs as an extra, and overall, the quality of the meat was decent. Some restaurants that offer many coupon deals serve extremely small portions of yakiniku, but this restaurant provides a satisfying amount, making it cost-effective. The rooms are separated, so you can enjoy yakiniku alone during the day without feeling awkward.
