Rest time: Lunch on Thursdays, Sundays and holidays. Business hours and holidays are subject to change, so please check with the restaurant before visiting.
I entered the shop I was recommended and sat at the counter. I had a tonkatsu set meal with tonkatsu, egg, and sautéed spinach, as well as a croquette set meal with croquette and miso stir-fried eggplant. Both meals came with rice, miso soup, and pickles. The side dishes were delicious and the rice was so good that I couldn't stop eating. The portion size was just right and the balance was perfect. I would love to try other menu items as well! It was a lovely lunch in my ordinary daily life. The evening menu also looks very appealing, so it might be nice to go there at night too... Thank you for the great recommendation!

I came here with friends a long time ago at night. It was my first time here for lunch, and I was happy to be able to choose a set meal. I chose eggplant miso and grilled mackerel. Surprisingly, the mackerel came with scrambled eggs! It also came with a side dish of simmered vegetables. The rice and miso soup were delicious. Since it was late, the restaurant was not crowded, so we were able to enjoy our meal slowly. I also found karasumi (bottarga) at the back of the restaurant, which I need to buy before New Year's. The owner was very friendly. It's located near Kyoto Zokei University and I often come here for various events, so I think having lunch here would be nice. There is no parking lot, but if you shop at the nearby Life supermarket, you can use their parking service. I would like to come back at night, but since I drive, I can't drink alcohol, so I wonder if it would be boring.

Second visit♡ I came for dinner to try the dish I regretted not trying last time. The staff was very friendly and talkative♬ The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. The dishes are all richly flavored and go well with alcohol‼︎ My personal favorite is the warm noodles as a closer♡ It seems like the toppings are different every time, haha. They also had COVID-19 measures in place‼︎ This time, I came to try the tail grilled dish that I regretted missing last time‼︎ It was rich and filling.

I recently visited a restaurant that Downtown Matsumoto from the TV show recommended. After watching the Matsumoto family episode, I really wanted to try the chicken mapo tofu. According to information on Tabelog, they offer lunch, so I decided to go for lunch this time. The location of the restaurant is a bit hard to find, but I was able to arrive without getting lost thanks to my smartphone's navigation. For lunch, you can choose 2 side dishes, a small dish, rice, and miso soup. I chose the chicken mapo tofu and mackerel miso. The chicken mapo tofu had crispy skin and a perfect balance of spicy mapo flavor, just like what Matsumoto enjoyed on the show! The mackerel miso was also delicious. The rice was tasty, so I recommend getting a large portion for men. The evening menu looks appealing as well, so I would like to visit at night next time! I also noticed Kim Brothers' bottle display discreetly placed in the restaurant.

It was a cold day. The rain was drizzling, and my body was completely chilled. It's a 14-minute walk from Chayama Station, with simmered dried radish with shiitake mushrooms, assorted sashimi with mackerel, octopus, sea urchin, and fried blowfish. Pickled Chinese cabbage, tomato pasta, wagyu steak, homemade steamed bun, spicy chicken fried with mapo tofu sauce, and beef tail soup with vermicelli. The time spent leisurely with the knowledgeable owner made me vow to revisit. Next time, I want to go there with an even emptier stomach.

A cozy restaurant run by a friendly owner, serving creative dishes with attention to detail. Standout dishes include black pepper tail, fried horse mackerel, whale cutlet, cold pasta with mozuku seaweed jelly, and sweet simmered young ayu. Each dish pairs well with beer or wine and is delicious. Definitely a place worth revisiting.

I saw it on TV yesterday and decided to try the highly praised tori-kara-mabo by Kimi. It was definitely delicious. I want to visit at night next time. It is expected to be crowded for a while due to the influence of TV.

I entered the restaurant in the early afternoon and ordered lunch, which consisted of a choice between two mains: Mapo Eggplant and Mapo Fried Chicken for 950 yen. The atmosphere was relaxed and I would definitely like to come back again.

I heard that this place used to serve lunch in the past, so I was disappointed when I tried to go a few times at night. It's a restaurant that downtown celebrities like Mat-chan, Kimuni, and Shigeo Tsujimoto used to frequent. I heard from Arashi Maru-san that lunch has been revived, so I came. For lunch, you can choose two side dishes. It also comes with cold tofu, rice, and miso soup. I ordered the famous mapo tofu for dinner. I had mapo eggplant, salted mackerel chicken karaage, and mapo with croquettes. The mapo tofu was delicious, with a perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness. The karaage was crispy and reminded me of oil-drizzled chicken. The croquette was like fried potato salad, which I really enjoyed. The portion size was good, and it's under 1000 yen, so I felt happy.

Well, this time I decided to go all out for lunch at Yanagiya in Gifu, and then chose a casual izakaya for a light dinner. A gourmet friend who loves food adventures recommended this place, so I trusted their judgment. I checked out some photos on Facebook and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere at the restaurant was very cozy and relaxing, with bright and warm lighting. The dishes were served promptly and were delicious. It was quite cold outside, so I ordered some hot sake. The appetizer was like oden, with a slightly rich flavor that paired well with the sake. The miso soup had a solid base and was tasty. The chicken karaage with mapo tofu sauce was flavorful, although the batter was a bit thick. The cheese cream croquette with blueberry jam was crispy and interesting, although the flavor could have been stronger. The whale yukhoe was surprisingly good, with the soba noodles adding a nice touch. The scallions were also delicious! The butter-fried snow crab was heavenly, with a rich and creamy sauce. The Korean cold noodles were fantastic, with a clear and delicious soup that was very refreshing. This soup is a must-try! The mackerel sushi was a bit too salty for my taste, but still delicious. Overall, all the dishes were tasty and reasonably priced. It's a great spot for a casual dining experience, especially for couples. The soups were all well-made, and the dishes were efficient, affordable, and delicious. The Korean cold noodles are a must-try! Fantastic experience!

I have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time now. I originally went there for the pig's feet, which I stumbled upon while driving by one day (lol). The fried sardines are delicious, absolutely delicious! What's interesting about the food here is that one day the pig's feet tasted different. When I asked if they changed the cooking method, the master said, "Yes, we did!" They are always striving to improve. The master is also very knowledgeable about beer, although I don't drink beer myself, I sometimes have one here. The location is a bit inconvenient as it is in the north of Kyoto, but that also means it's quiet and relaxing to eat and drink here. I will definitely visit again soon! However, I had no idea so many celebrities have been coming here, that's really surprising (lol).

I was invited to a restaurant I've been wanting to go to for a long time, "Ookiniya." This place is highly praised by the entertainer "Kimukimu Aniyan," also known as the talent "Yuuichi Kimura." The first dish is the "Daikon Oden" appetizer. The dashi flavor is well infused, with a hint of yuzu fragrance. The signature dish, "Ookiniya Cream Cheese Croquette" (600 yen), is served with blueberry jam instead of nori tsukudani. The combination of the croquette filled with cream cheese is surprisingly excellent. The recommended dish of the day is the "Kaki Fry," served with plenty of homemade tartar sauce. The second signature dish, "Chicken Karaage Marbo" (800 yen), is spicy and delicious. The third signature dish, "Ookiniya Salad" (800 yen), features tasty prosciutto. The assorted sashimi platter includes "Fatty Horse Mackerel Nigiri," "Tessa," "Yellowtail," and "Mackerel," all of which are delicious. The recommended "Beef Tongue Sashimi" is made from high-quality cuts. The homemade "Squid Salted Innards" is flavorful and delicious. The recommended "Cod Milt" is tasty. The recommended "Beef Loin Tataki" is delicious. The "Koshi no Kanbai" (cold sake) is refreshing. The "Sea Urchin Pasta" with fresh noodles is delightful. The unexpected "Gorgonzola Pizza" has a unique aroma. The off-menu "Stir-Fried Beef Tongue (scraps)" is flavorful. The "Homemade Bread" with cream cheese inside is a treat. "Ookiniya" is located west of the main gate of Kyoto University of Art and Design. The nearest bus stop is "Kamihatamachi Kyoto Zokei Geidai Mae."

On the first floor, the main seating is at the counter, but today I was able to sit at a table in the back. First, cheers with a draft beer! I haven't had any alcohol since I caught a cold, so it's been a week since I last drank. The appetizer is simmered daikon radish, which is well-cooked and deliciously soft. The cream cheese croquette is huge and when you cut it open, it's delicious with plenty of cream cheese. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, very tasty. The Kaki fry house salad is beautiful and too pretty to eat, with delicious potatoes. The sashimi assortment includes tuna, yellowtail, mackerel, and fatty horse mackerel, all fresh and delicious, especially the fatty horse mackerel which melts in your mouth and is the best of the day. The squid salted roe and spider cow tongue sashimi have a unique taste and texture, very tasty. I tried a Belgian beer called "Shimeibu" and it was good. We also had beef tataki with red wine, a light and easy-to-drink wine. The sea urchin pasta is beautiful and tasty, with the noodles having a great texture and the sauce complementing them well. The bread is chewy and delicious. When we asked for a dish that goes well with wine, they made a Gorgonzola pizza which was a perfect match with the wine, the unique taste of the blue cheese complementing the wine well. The beef tongue stir-fry was made with the leftover parts from the sashimi, tender and spicy, perfect with wine. Finally, the coffee with cream was delicious.

I have been going to this restaurant for about 15 years. Despite not being on a main street, it is a popular spot. The seafood dishes are delicious, and the meat dishes are also good. They offer unique items based on the season. What I love the most is their soup!!! It's not your typical Japanese broth, but a sophisticated soup that is truly outstanding. I try various dishes, but always end with their spicy fried chicken and homemade meat buns with sauce, followed by the soup. If I still have room, I finish with noodles. I can easily have three glasses of shochu with this meal. Considering the quality, ingredients, and effort put into the food, I don't feel it's overpriced at all.
