After visiting Kennin-ji Temple, I felt hungry and stumbled upon this place while walking. It seemed like there were no tourists around, which I liked. I tried a curry champon that I had never seen before. It looked delicious. I enjoyed it while sweating. It had vegetables and pork in it, and the curry flavor was not too spicy, but tasty! I am curious about the Genghis Khan dish and the fried chicken too. The interior of the restaurant had a TV playing, which made me feel relaxed. I rested and then went for another walk.

Roppongi Hotel's first visit! I had been thinking about eating fried chicken before I even went there, so I was planning to get the fried chicken without hesitation... but they had Chinese rice bowl, curry ramen, yakisoba, Roppongi bowl, garlic chives and liver, chicken tempura... oh no, so many choices to think about~ Since I had been thinking about fried chicken today, I ended up getting the fried chicken set with dumplings. The batter was probably made with eggs, crispy and fluffy, and the chicken was juicy and delicious without any unpleasant smell. The dumplings had a lot of vegetables in the filling, so they were light and tasty. I'm really grateful to have a restaurant like this nearby. I definitely want to visit again!

The Chinese-style rice bowl at Roppongi Hanten is unbelievably delicious, it's like there's some kind of magic in the sauce. I tried the Roppongi bowl last time and it was so good, so this time I ordered the Chinese-style rice bowl. The vegetables are different but overall it's similar, and still so tasty. The vegetables are cut big and served hot, with bell peppers, Chinese cabbage, onions, and bamboo shoots all mixed in the sauce. The occasional appearance of pork is just amazing, and I really want to learn how to season it like this! Next time, I'm curious about the popular curry ramen or fried rice. Anyway, I'll definitely be coming back here often. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Located along Matsubara Street, close to Rokuharamitsuji Temple, this Chinese restaurant is a bustling city-style eatery. Despite its city vibe, the menu is extensive, and individual orders are available even during lunchtime. In addition to regular-sized bottles, they also offer large bottles of beer, which is quite rare these days. On a scorching hot day, I ordered a large bottle of beer, meat and vegetable stir-fry, pan-fried dumplings, and mapo tofu rice bowl. Water is self-served for regular customers, but for newcomers, the staff will provide it. The meat and vegetable stir-fry tasted like sweet and sour pork, with large chunks of meat in a thick sauce. The pan-fried dumplings came in a plate of six, with a loose filling and a strong garlic flavor, wrapped in thin skin. The design on the plate was unexpectedly cute. There is another city-style Chinese restaurant nearby, but I personally prefer this one. It can get surprisingly crowded during lunchtime. As for the ambiance, I felt comfortable enough even as a newcomer.

I visited the Rokuharamitsu-ji temple and stopped by for lunch on the way back. I ordered the grilled gyoza for ¥250, the chicken tempura for ¥650, and the sweet and sour pork for ¥750. I also got a large bottle of beer for ¥650. There were many affordable set menu options available, but I decided to go with gyoza and chicken tempura as my beer snacks. The gyoza had a nice garlic flavor that I like, with a good balance of ingredients. The chicken tempura was shaped like sticks, which was a bit unusual but tasty. I also ordered the sweet and sour pork, which was delicious as well. Overall, it was a great meal. Thank you. It was delicious. 5.8

The portions are generous, the taste is original and delicious, and the prices are good. There are many menu options to choose from, and it was a bit difficult to decide. There was a TV in the restaurant, and it seemed like the owner's wife was serving in the dining area. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with a nostalgic feel.

I've always been curious about the restaurant #Rokuhara Iten. I ordered the #Rokuhara Meshi and it looked like a vegetable-filled sweet and sour pork bowl, but it was delicious. The sauce had a gentle flavor, and despite its appearance of being hearty, it was easy to eat and brought out the deliciousness of the vegetables and pork. I found another delicious local Chinese restaurant that made me smile. The dumplings had a satisfying crunch on the outside, but the seasoning was also gentle, following the recent trend of Kyoto-style Chinese cuisine. I also got some fried chicken to take home for dinner, looking forward to it. There are many other dishes I want to try, like the famous curry champon, and I also want to visit the nearby bakery, Nitta Bakery. So, Friday's regular spot for local Chinese food is decided. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal!

I went to a Chinese restaurant located across from Rokuharamitsuji, where the statue of Kuya Shonin from "Let's Go to Kyoto!" is introduced. I was able to sit at the counter because I adjusted my timing. I enjoyed the Genghis Khan set meal and bottled beer that were listed on the sign. A young lady with a guidebook, two friends, a local man who seemed quite drunk from noon, students, families with baby strollers - everyone was having a good time. As a solo traveler, I felt like I was part of the group.

During a series of interviews, I had lunch with M reporter from M newspaper at Rokuhara Restaurant. I had the tonkatsu set meal for 770 yen. It was cheap and delicious! The Chinese soup and tonkatsu had a nice taste. The ketchup was also unique. I think this restaurant represents the town Chinese cuisine of Higashiyama Ward. If only the loud TV volume (especially daytime variety shows) that echoed throughout the entire restaurant was not there.

Today I had work in Higashiyama, unfortunately it was snowing, very cold... For lunch, I headed to Rokuhara Isetan to finally try their fried chicken set meal that I missed out on last time. The restaurant was full, but of course I ordered the fried chicken set meal without hesitation. It took a bit of time to be served due to the full house, but finally, my long-awaited fried chicken arrived! Unlike other places, their fried chicken is in the form of drumsticks and it's huge! When I took a bite of the piping hot chicken, it was delicious! It had a hint of spice, maybe cloves? The seasoning was not heavy, just a light saltiness, with a mysterious and delightful flavor. Each piece was big but easy to eat, like the shumai at Ichijo-ji. I only knew of Fukuzumi in Imadegawa as a delicious fried chicken spot in Kyoto, but personally, I would add this place to the top three fried chicken spots in Kyoto! Fukuzumi, Rokuhara Isetan, and I'll have to search for the third spot. The fried chicken set meal recommended by TAKUMA from 10-FEET and actress Tomoko Tahata was indeed delicious! Highly recommended!

The noodles were soft. The curry soup had little spiciness, maintaining a balance between Chinese and champon flavors. I enjoyed adding plenty of Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor and finished by diving into the rice. ✔️
[Rice] It seemed like a regular portion, but it was quite a generous serving. I would prefer about half the amount. Dive into the leftover broth! It's like a drink haha

Today I worked in Higashiyama and decided to have lunch at Rokuhara Hanten, a Chinese restaurant that looks like a local favorite. The place seems to be run by a couple. I ordered the curry champon and rice. I noticed a signature from the band 10-FEET on the wall, they say the fried chicken here is the best in the world. I should have done more research beforehand! The curry champon was delicious with a thick broth and lots of cabbage, bean sprouts, and carrots. I really liked the texture of the broth. I must try the fried chicken next time! I will definitely come back. Highly recommended! Thank you for the meal!

★Just a minute's walk from Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple. A nostalgic Chinese restaurant that goes well with a visit to Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple. ★The atmosphere is retro Showa-style. ★The dishes are full of vegetables. Delicious and affordable ♡ I wanted to have a Chinese rice bowl and one more dish, but there were no small-sized side dishes available. I ordered 6 pieces of fried chicken, ate 3 pieces at the restaurant, and took the remaining 3 pieces to go. *I ate around 4:30 PM.

Today's weather is also clear and crisp! Let's go to Kyoto! Starting from the beautiful Higashifushimi Temple where the sea of autumn leaves is stunning, even though there is already a long line and heavy traffic just 30 minutes after opening. But it's definitely worth seeing. Next, we walked to Rokuharamitsuji Temple. I wanted to see the thing that stretches out from the mouth. The real thing is truly amazing. And then, we went to this local Chinese restaurant nearby. I was drawn in by the menu sign at the entrance that read "Curry Champon Noodles 800 yen". I scooped up a bite of noodles from the bowl in the center. It tastes like Champon noodles. Delicious. Next, I mixed in the curry soup from the side. It's more like the viscosity of curry roux. With the addition of vegetables, it's really delicious. This is my kind of taste. Many regular customers were coming in, and these kinds of local Chinese restaurants are really nice. I enjoyed my meal today as well. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Had lunch at Rokuhara Inn. Ordered the Chicken Tempura Set (730 yen). The set included fluffy chicken tempura, green pepper tempura, and pumpkin tempura. The set menu here is especially delicious. While chicken tempura is famous in Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, it is also a local menu in the Chinese cuisine scene in Kyoto. It is often found in traditional Chinese restaurants like the Hoobukai group. It's different from fried chicken. Many restaurants offer both chicken tempura and fried chicken on their menu.

On Friday at 12:30, I went to Rokuhara Ryokan in Shimizu Gojo. I had been wanting to visit this place ever since I saw it on a TV show. I ordered the famous "Curry Ramen (680 yen)". It arrived 10 minutes later. With the first bite, I thought it was delicious. The curry soup with a thick texture, like a sauce, was just right with the beaten egg. It looks like the "Tenshinhan" from Marushin Ryokan at first glance. The soup is like a refined spicy curry-flavored Tenshinhan sauce. It's delicious. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles with a good chewiness that pairs well with the curry soup. The menu has a wide variety of options, and the prices are generally affordable. It's a local favorite that has the feel of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

This is an old-fashioned town Chinese food eatery, not the modern and sophisticated Kyoto, but with a traditional atmosphere and many old dining establishments. The restaurant is located near Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple, with a shop selling traditional child-rearing candy in front of it. As you enter through the worn-out noren curtain, you are greeted with a Showa retro vibe, more like a stylish Western-style diner than a Chinese restaurant, with mainly table seating and a few counter seats, and a TV playing freely. Running the place are a middle-aged couple, perhaps? They offer a wide variety of town Chinese dishes on the menu. I ordered the curry ramen after hesitating between that and curry champon. It arrived in about 6 minutes. The bowl is not large, but it is filled with a thick, glossy curry-based soup. Upon tasting it, I found that the soup had a fluffy texture due to the egg, and the thick curry-flavored soup, with a hint of saltiness, had a nostalgic taste. The noodles were thin, more like a firm Soba noodle, which was quite good. The ingredients included pork, onions, and carrots. This simple and appealing curry ramen was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

In Kyoto for some errands. Had lunch at a Chinese restaurant near Rokuharamitsuji Temple. I ordered Tianjin rice with pot stickers for 630 yen + 230 yen. The white sauce, which is based on Chinese broth instead of soy sauce, was easy to eat as it did not contain vinegar. The pot stickers were small but juicy with a crispy skin. It had been a few years since I last visited, and it seemed like there was a change in ownership with a young couple running the place. However, they started arguing loudly in the kitchen, creating an awkward atmosphere in the restaurant. Such behavior could affect the taste as well. I hope they avoid tarnishing the reputation of this renowned restaurant.

I am personally drawn to the area around Higashiyama Ward. I'm not sure if it's because of the historical background or because my friend lives nearby. However, there is something about the Showa era atmosphere that still lingers, and walking up from Matsubara Bridge feels like stepping back in time to the Showa period. Furthermore, walking further up leads to the famous Kiyomizu Temple. Following the local perspective, I walked quite a bit from Shichijo to this area. For lunch, I decided to go to Rokuhara Hanten, a restaurant that seems to be closely connected to the community. This restaurant was on my list from my previous visit to Kyoto. Although I planned to try a standard ramen or set meal for my first visit, I couldn't resist ordering the Champon noodles for 730 yen. This was a dish I wanted to try for the first time in Kyoto, and I wanted to compare it to the Champon noodles from my hometown. The pricing at this restaurant can be considered cheaper than in the city. After arriving at the empty restaurant around 2 pm, I ordered the Champon noodles, but I couldn't hear any sounds of cooking... I started to doubt whether the Champon noodles were actually being prepared. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the Champon ramen was finally served. The Champon noodles with a thick sauce topping looked different from what I had imagined. It resembled the Banmen or Sanma ramen (a local ramen in Yokohama) from Yokohama. The dish consisted of vegetables, meat, egg, and medium-thin noodles in a soy sauce-based soup, which was light and refreshing. Adding sesame oil, chili oil, and vinegar made it taste like Sanratan noodles, but it still resembled Yokohama's Sanma ramen the most. Although I'm not a fan of dishes with thick sauce, I found the Champon noodles in Kyoto easy to eat and delicious. The restaurant made me feel like I was in a Chinese restaurant in Yokohama or Kyoto, I couldn't tell anymore. It was a cozy place that blended in well with the local community. I look forward to returning next time to try the standard ramen for 580 yen. Additionally, a large bottle of beer was 600 yen, and a medium bottle was 550 yen.

On a holiday Monday at 11am, I happened to pass by a restaurant that had just opened. There were no customers at first, but soon about half of the seats were filled. I asked if they still had lunch sets available, and they assured me that they did, even on weekends. I ordered the chicken cutlet set. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be ready, but when it arrived, it was piping hot and delicious. The chicken cutlet had a hint of curry flavor and the sauce added a rich taste. The rice was also tasty and filling. I will definitely come back, maybe next time for the fried chicken set or the unique Rokuhara Donburi.
