I went on a trip to Ine Town in Kyoto with my husband, who took a day off for the first time in a while. We stayed at the Mufuju Stage, a traditional inn designated as an important cultural property. Arriving at the inn around 3 pm, we decided to try fishing from the balcony since we had no specific plans. The sea was crystal clear, and we caught some beltfish and rockfish. It felt like a scene from "Tsuribaka Nisshi" (a Japanese fishing manga). The area around the inn didn't have much to do besides fishing. After a leisurely walk, we returned to find a huge spread of fresh sashimi waiting for dinner. The variety included flounder, gurnard, flying fish, horse mackerel, oysters, saury, and squid. We also enjoyed salt-grilled and simmered fish, as well as tempura. All the seafood was sourced from a nearby fishing port just 2-3 minutes away. The presentation was excellent, and we were stuffed with delicious seafood. Despite the generous portions, the meal was light and easy to digest, leading to a refreshing morning the next day. The following morning, we indulged in a luxurious breakfast featuring Ine's delicious rice and eggs. Even though I usually skip breakfast, I couldn't resist the tasty meal. The one-night stay with two meals included cost 15,000 yen per person, which was quite cost-effective. I'm already looking forward to visiting again in the fall.

Located in Ine Town, Yosa District, Kyoto Prefecture, the "Mufuju Butai" is a traditional guesthouse housed in a boathouse, which is a unique type of building where the first floor is used for storing boats and tools, while the second floor serves as a living space or inn. When viewed from the sea side, the row of boathouses appears as if floating on the water. Ine Town, designated as an important traditional building preservation area by the national government, is home to around 230 boathouses lining the inlet of Ine Bay at the northern tip of Tango Peninsula. The name "Mufuju Butai" is derived from the name of a mountain in the Kamejima district. The accommodation fee starts from 15,000 yen per night including two meals, with options like buri shabu-shabu and buri dishes available for around 20,000 yen (market price). The buri season runs from mid-November to February, during which guests can enjoy dishes featuring this local delicacy. Indulge in a luxurious dining experience of buri shabu-shabu while gazing at the sea, savoring the bounty of the ocean in this historic guesthouse.
