太っ腹
Today's lunch was at "GARAGECAFEFIVEKYOTO" in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, located on Senbon-dori Akaike, south of the Minami Interchange. It's a cafe that I discovered with a novelty of taco rice sign at the familiar Akaike intersection where I always pass by. Despite the industrial area with various factories and warehouses, the cafe fits right in, with the word "CAFE" on display. You can park your car in front of the warehouse. There is a large door guarded by a sphinx, and I was wondering how to enter, but opening the small door on the right reveals a fence, which the staff kindly opened to welcome me inside. The interior was dimly lit and spacious, with a supercar parked right away. It truly is a garage cafe. I took a seat at the counter. The recommended item on the lunch menu seemed to be various types of taco rice. They also offered pasta, curry, and desserts. The young staff members were all very friendly. Following their recommendation, I ordered the "FIVE Special Taco Rice Set" for 1650 yen. Various objects lined up in front of me, including a nostalgic DeLorean. As I observed the dimly lit interior, I noticed that there were table seats and seats on a loft as well. There was even a fenced dog run, with customers bringing their dogs along. The entrance fence was probably there to prevent any escapes. The open kitchen was decorated with pop art. As I looked around, a snack was served - a fried pasta dish that reminded me of a food stall. It seemed to be a small dish included in the set menu. Next, a hot soup was served, with onions, scrambled eggs, and a hint of black pepper in the flavorful broth. The main dish, taco rice, was presented with a prominent fried egg. Half of the plate was filled with salad, and Tabasco sauce was provided on the side. The generous portion of vegetables with tangy dressing complemented the richly seasoned minced meat, creating a balanced flavor with the rice. Plenty of cheese, along with avocado, added a refreshing richness. Breaking the fried egg over the dish added a new dimension with the runny yolk. The meal ended with an iced coffee. The interior of the warehouse was like a wonderland, making it an exciting and thrilling cafe experience.
