When I went to Kyoto, I bought these at ASTY KYOTO inside the station. - Chirimen sansho (dried baby sardines with Japanese pepper) - Yuba chirimen (dried tofu skin with baby sardines) They are not too salty, making them easy to eat. They can be enjoyed on top of rice or as a snack with alcohol. The packs are small but packed full. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This is a collaboration project between Kyoto Fukujuen and Itoen. The Kyoto Blend includes roasted green tea, Kyoto Bancha, and Japanese black tea. The Japanese-style black tea is not too overpowering, with Kyoto Bancha being the main flavor. There is also a hint of roasted green tea flavor. It's a different taste from Kyoto's hojicha and quite enjoyable.

Last day in Kyoto for Golden Week. I returned to Kyoto Station. Although my husband's Golden Week vacation continues for a while, we ran out of Japanese sake for our evening drink at home, so I decided to buy some. Inside the Shinkansen station, there was a corner dedicated to Kyoto sake, with a great selection. I was unsure of what to get, but I ended up choosing the Junmai Daiginjo from Tomio, which I have ordered a few times from Kyoto shops or online. It comes in a sturdy box, making it relatively easy to carry around (we put it in our suitcase). We chilled it well in the fridge, and my husband enjoyed it with dishes like Unagi from Notojima and dashimaki tamago. It has a rich aroma and a mild taste. If you see it at a Kyoto restaurant, I highly recommend trying it with some dishes. Thank you for the meal~.

Not at the station in Kyoto, but at a souvenir shop inside the Shinkansen ticket gate. Targeting relatively long-distance travelers, both inbound and domestic, the shop is crowded and not ideal for lingering. The shop has a variety of Kyoto-centered sake in a refrigerated display. Considering the quantity and whether it can be consumed on the train, I had a hypothesis that I might receive a plastic sake cup at the register. With high expectations for the taste, I purchased a 300ml box of Hakurei Shuzo's "Koda" sake for 649 yen, paid with an IC card, and indeed received two plastic sake cups as a thoughtful gesture. As soon as I boarded the Shinkansen, I enjoyed the taste of Kyoto-like sake.

In the fall of 2022, I went on a shopping spree before boarding the bullet train home after enjoying the autumn leaves in Kyoto. I had to buy this snack when in Kyoto! I went to this store aiming for sweets and bought the Matcha Fondant Chocolat and Sencha sweets for 1,458 yen. Oh my goodness... this is incredibly rich. Just as the name suggests, it tastes like pure Sencha tea. It is moist and rich, packed with the essence of tea. When you get home, put it in the refrigerator for over an hour and enjoy it♥ Bon appétit.

Souvenir. This is a souvenir shop inside the Shinkansen station ticket gate. I was looking for souvenirs for my workplace here. I purchased two boxes of 14 pieces of Hana Matcha from Honke Yatsuhashi Nishio (800 yen). Hana Matcha is a snack where plenty of matcha cream is wrapped in a rolled wheat cracker. I was nervous because I bought it without tasting it, but the harmonious combination of crispy and light wheat crackers and fragrant matcha cream was quite good, and it turned out to be a hit. The souvenir shop inside the Shinkansen ticket gate is convenient and surprisingly has hidden gems. Thank you for the meal.

This is a souvenir shop. I found a shop selling tofu while exploring inside the Shinkansen station before boarding the Shinkansen, so I stopped by. Among various types of tofu, I bought fresh yuba for 847 yen. I tried eating it with wasabi and mustard, and it was easy to eat with a firm texture.

I always find it convenient to purchase souvenirs, and Kyoto souvenirs are always well-received. Today, I bought Kyoto Balm. They also have Ajari Mochi, which is very convenient. I also bought Grandma Marble. I often see it in souvenir shops lately. It was also available at Itami Airport.

I was a little worried about whether I would make it in time for my reserved Shinkansen train, but I still wanted to try the sake tasting. I ended up buying two types of daiginjo and one type of ginjo while hesitating. The one I bought was the following: Jyurakudai Junmai Daiginjo 300ml for 1,485 yen. Jyurakudai was a political office, residence, and castle built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. It was demolished after 8 years, so there are many unknown points about it. I didn't know that. The lady at the store asked, "Will you drink it on the Shinkansen?" She said they also have chilled sake for those who want to drink it in the train. I thought that would be nice, but at that time, I hurried to the platform without being late for the train and enjoyed the refreshing and delicious sake. I have recently started drinking sake little by little. When I sip and savor it, the taste of the sake seems to sink in even more. It was a truly delicious sake.

When returning home from Kyoto using the Shinkansen, I like to buy drinks. This time, I found a drink made with local ingredients and decided to try it. - Aoboku Plum Cider from Aotani A non-alcoholic drink made by Joyo Saketen, a liquor store. This local cider was created to help promote the town of Joyo City. Aotani Plum Grove is a famous plum grove in Joyo City, located in the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture. I thought it would have a strong, sharp taste like plums, but it was surprisingly light with a subtle flavor that gradually emerges. Made with plums and sugars (sugar, fructose glucose liquid), without MSG, this simple plum-flavored drink has a mature taste. It's strangely addictive, making you want to take another sip. - Iemon Roasted Green Tea with Kyoto Hojicha I usually enjoy Fukujuen's Iemon green tea, but this roasted green tea is a first for me, and it's great! It's refreshing, light, fragrant, and doesn't leave your throat or mouth feeling sticky. It's a taste that you won't get tired of.

Asti Kyoto - I stopped by this souvenir shop during a day trip to Kyoto. I noticed the matcha waffle sandwich and decided to buy it. The crispy texture of the waffle and the matcha cream went well together, and it paired nicely with coffee. It's perfect for an afternoon snack. Definitely check it out if you visit Kyoto. Thank you for the delicious treat.

This is a souvenir shop located inside the Hachijo-guchi Shinkansen ticket gate at Kyoto Station. The souvenirs I bought this time are Adzuki bean mochi and spicy oil with wood ear mushrooms, along with powdered sansho pepper, whole sansho pepper, and dried fish with sansho pepper. I also bought a container of sansho pepper from Shichimiya for 648 yen. This is on the fifth day of the Kyoto trip for an elderly couple, with photos from Gion Shirakawa visited before arriving at Kyoto Station.

This is "Kyono Miyage" located inside JR Kyoto Station Shinkansen platform concourse. They have everything you need, which is very convenient. Before heading home, I bought my favorite souvenir from Kyoto, the delicious "Nama Yatsuhashi" from Yatsuhashiya, the oldest shop in the area. Established in 1689, the history and the fact that it is made with rice flour, unlike Western sweets, gives it a comforting feeling. I know that Nama Yatsuhashi with red bean paste is very delicious, so I chose the classic "Nikki" and "Matcha" flavors. The souvenir I bought this time was the "Annama Assortment (Matcha and Nikki)" for 540 yen. The chewy and delicious skin of Nama Yatsuhashi is irresistible. Personally, I prefer the red bean paste type over the smooth red bean paste type. The moderate sweetness of the red bean paste is very elegant and never gets boring. There are various flavors available, but I highly recommend the Nikki and Matcha set. Personally, I love Nikki the most. The Yatsuhashi costs 540 yen and has a good shelf life, making it a perfect gift for my parents. For my parents, when it comes to Kyoto, it's all about Yatsuhashi, and this is the only option. Is the cinnamon-flavored hard-baked senbei a common Kyoto souvenir? Thank you for this delicious treat!

This is a shop located inside Kyoto Station's Shinkansen ticket gate. I forgot to bring a drink to have on the train, so I visited this shop to get one. I arrived at 2:45 PM. There is a drink corner on the right side of the shop... I was strongly drawn to the Ebisu beer with a Blue Train head mark charm, but I decided to go for something more Kyoto-like. I chose "Kiuchi Brewery's Kiuchi Pale Ale (324 yen)" as I had considered visiting Kiuchi Brewery when I was in Fushimi, but ended up not going. I will enjoy it on the Shinkansen train. Here we go. It's a Pale Ale with a subtle taste... not completely without any unique flavor. The alcohol taste is slightly strong. It has a light richness, with a bit of bitterness standing out. Oh! There's no big surprise, but... well, it's okay, I guess (^_^;) Maybe I had too high expectations (^_^;) I slowly savor the lingering taste of Kyoto and end up falling asleep without realizing it. The end.

I received some Japanese sweets as an omiyage. It's not cotton candy, but traditional Japanese sweets. It's not my mentor, Junji Takada, but Hollywood Zakoshisyoh. The color is green, but there is no specific definition for the color of Japanese sweets. Should I eat it with chopsticks or with my hands? I'm not sure... Oh well, I'll just take a bite. Delicious! I have a not-so-helpful gourmet blog called "Grass Grass's Otaku Diary."

This is a shop located just inside the Shinkansen ticket gates at JR Kyoto Station. Despite the bustling crowds at Kyoto Station, it felt a bit calmer once inside the Shinkansen gates, allowing me to leisurely browse through souvenirs. The shop had a wide variety of items available. I ended up purchasing "Shumichoko Okaki Matcha," "Chirimen Sansho," and "Nama Yatsuhashi." Among these, my favorite was the "Shumichoko Okaki Matcha." It's a snack where chocolate is infused into rice crackers, and the chocolate flavor was rich and delicious. I wish I had bought more.
