Located near Higashiyama Station, in Okazaki Enshoji-cho, is a charcuterie shop called "Charcuterie." They sell homemade charcuterie (ham, bacon, salami, sausages, pate), French ham, homemade side dishes, French butter, and cheese. They also offer charcuterie and lunch dishes made with charcuterie at their eat-in area. The homemade charcuterie is made using locally sourced ingredients, with pork from Kyoto. They do not use coloring agents (sodium nitrite) and minimize additives, focusing on safety. The shop opened in July 2022. Chef Mr. Kawamura is a skilled professional who has won awards at the Pate Crew and the World Championship Asia Competition. The shop is operated by Enkyo Co., Ltd. It is about a 6-7 minute walk from Higashiyama Station Exit 1. You can find it by heading towards Keage on Sanjo Street, turning left at the Sanjo Jingu-michi intersection, then turning right onto Nio-mon Street, and it's the second block on the right. The lovely shop has a terrace area with a blue shade. Across the street is the Kyocera Museum of Art. I visited during lunchtime and used the eat-in area. The bright interior is decorated with a showcase like a patisserie. They have eat-in tables (2-person tables x 4) in the back left corner. There was only one other group of customers when I arrived, as it was late. The menu is extensive and appealing (prices include tax). Lunch Plate options include Hot Dog (1,540 yen), Croustade (Baguette Sandwich) (1,540 yen), Meat Pie (1,540 yen), Choucroute (2,090 yen), Assiette de Charcuterie (2P, 3,000 yen), and Seasonal Limited (1,540 yen). A la carte options include Sausages (from 650 yen), freshly sliced raw ham and salami (from 750 yen), and today's pate (from 900 yen). They also offer a Mixed Plate of raw ham (2,300 yen), marinated vegetables (500 yen each), baguettes (100 yen each), and desserts (from 500 yen). They also have a selection of drinks like beer, wine, sparkling wine, and champagne. I ordered the following: Lunch Plate Hot Dog (1,540 yen) - Comes with salad, soup, and today's dish (pate). The Hot Dog is made with grilled Sosis Blanc (white sausage) (equivalent to 700 yen/piece) sandwiched in a special French bread. The bread is crispy and fragrant with a good texture. It pairs perfectly with the sausage, which is juicy and light in texture. The Hot Dog was satisfying with a substantial and enjoyable sausage. Today's dish was an Alsatian-style pate made with Alsatian wine. It has a sticky texture and was served with mustard and pickles. The pate had a rich mouthfeel, making me crave wine. The soup was a vegetable onion soup, and the salad included green leaf lettuce, olives, carrot salad, and walnuts. I spent about 40 minutes there and was very satisfied with the generous Lunch Plate. The portion was just right. The contents of the plate made me want to have wine with it on my next visit. I would like to enjoy wine with their dishes on my next visit. At home, we choose charcuterie that does not use coloring agents, and this shop offers products that align with that policy, so it's reassuring. I not only plan to revisit but also consider ordering from this place.
