Delilah
Located just east of Nijo Castle, this cafe is on the first floor of the ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Kyoto. I had made a reservation in advance and they had prepared a window seat for me. The sofa seats by the window overlook a graceful waterfall, giving off a nostalgic vibe that seems suitable for arranged meetings. I had the Afternoon Tea Set (2,500 yen excluding tax). You can choose from 4 types of black tea and 4 types of herbal tea from Ronnefeldt. The tea set is served in Herend's Indian Basket design...which was quite popular back in the day. The pot service is convenient, but without a pot cover, the tea tends to cool down by the third cup...a bit disappointing. The set includes 3 types of sandwiches, 2 types of scones, macarons, fruit pound cake, orange creme brulee, raspberry tart, cheese roll cake, and cherry blossom granita. The warm scones were quite delicious. The rest of the items were average, but the variety of food items, from meals to desserts, warm to cold, at this price point in a hotel cafe is great value for money. The menu includes information about the ingredients used, which is a nice touch. The classic atmosphere, not overly trendy, allows for a relaxing experience. When I was younger, I would fly to places with a trendy and modern atmosphere, but now that I'm older, sometimes that kind of vibe can be tiring. While listening to a string quartet live performance, I rejuvenated myself with tea and sweets, resting my tired body from sightseeing. Thank you for the feast!
