After a while, you start craving curry. I always top it with my favorite jerk chicken. And, ginger ale. They have been busy with events since the end of the pandemic. Had a lively chat with the staff about various topics. Will visit again. Thank you for the meal.

At Aileenoboritai in Fushimi, Kyoto, there is a restaurant that serves spice curry and Jamaican cuisine near Tanbabashi Station. During lunchtime, the main focus is on spice curry, while in the evening, you can enjoy over 50 different types of rum. The husband, who loves Jamaican cuisine, discovered this restaurant at a festival and really liked it. We ordered: - Jerk Chicken (¥1000) - Climbing Sea Bream Curry (¥850) - Jerk Pork (price unknown) In addition to the main menu, there were other items listed on the blackboard, so we also tried the Jerk Pork. The Jerk Chicken was very juicy with an enticing aroma of spices. The banana chips served on the side were also delicious. The Climbing Sea Bream Curry had a lemon keema base with a hint of sea bream. You can add extra spiciness for an additional cost, so we tried it with a hot level (¥50). It wasn't a curry with a strong fish taste, but it had a well-balanced spiciness that was unique and easy to eat. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with reggae music playing in the background. The vibe of the restaurant's noren curtain was really appealing. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I went for lunch. The background music, if you can call it that, was reggae at a high volume. It wasn't the kind of music you'd expect at a lunch place. The potted plants were not well taken care of. The taste of the sea bream curry and taco rice curry depends on personal preference, but it wasn't to my liking. The keema still had a meaty smell despite the spices. The sea bream broth and spices didn't seem to go well together. The pickles were too sweet. The jerk chicken was burnt, but it was delicious.

The "Climbing Snapper Curry" is unique and addictive in its own way. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed, with reggae music playing in the background, allowing customers to unwind. On Sundays, the place is bustling with people of all ages, creating a lively community atmosphere. They also offer a great take-out service, with a container fee waived for those who follow them on Instagram.

I knew this place was open but it was my first visit. I arrived on a Sunday at 1 pm and there were no other customers in the restaurant. It was completely empty. I sat at a table and ordered the popular climbing perch curry with jerk chicken topping. To be honest, I'm not sure if it was delicious (not bad though). I prefer more traditional curry over spiced curry like this. I learned that jerk chicken is a specialty from Jamaica for the first time. I saw the seasoning being sold at a store called Kaldis. I forgot my mask when I entered but they welcomed me kindly. They even offered me a mask when I was leaving (I declined as I live nearby). I appreciate their thoughtfulness.

Climbing snapper curry with snapper broth and lemon keema. Before eating, squeeze the lemon over it. The rice is Thai rice. If you like your rice soft, you might not enjoy it as much because Thai rice is quite fluffy. I thought the keema wasn't that spicy, but I gradually started sweating. It's a strange taste that I strangely got hooked on. But I can't figure out the right ratio of keema to rice (laughs). In the end, I almost ran out of rice (laughs).

I decided to visit this town's unusual spice curry restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is a bar with reggae music playing. During the day, sunlight pours in through the sliding door at the entrance. I ordered the red snapper curry and chicken jerky. Despite some reviews mentioning long wait times, the food arrived surprisingly quickly, in just 5 minutes. I squeezed lemon over the keema. The taste was good, but I couldn't really taste the red snapper. The rice was cooked perfectly, almost like it was steamed. The dried herbs were described as casmerity, which I heard was popular at one point. The jerky was nothing special. Overall, I didn't find it very spicy, but I did start sweating on my back, so the spices must have been strong. When asked if it was delicious, I hesitated to say yes, but I'm sure there are people who would enjoy it. P.S. I learned that "irie" is a reggae term meaning "good."

The renovated townhouse has a handmade feel with a calm atmosphere, and reggae music playing throughout. It feels more like a bar or cafe than a curry shop. There was only one customer for takeout when we arrived. The owner seemed to be running the place alone, as there was minimal interaction with us until the takeout order was finished. The menu only offered Tai Dashi Keema Curry, with toppings available for an additional charge. The rice was specified as Thai rice, which I was excited about since I love it from my trip to Bangkok. However, it took quite a while for the curry to be served. When it finally arrived, the aroma of the spices was wonderful. The Thai rice had a lot of broken grains, and the lemon squeezed into the curry added a nice touch of acidity. Despite the good flavor of the curry, the rice was cooked quite firm and had a strong odor, which made it difficult to finish the meal. Overall, while the curry was tasty, the rice made it challenging to eat the entire dish.

Today's lunch at "Airi Noboritai" in Fushimi Ward, a curry restaurant located west of the ward office. The exterior retains the appearance of a traditional townhouse. Tables and counters are lined up in a space that feels like a dirt floor. The speaker system is impressive, playing reggae music as background music. The menu consists of their signature "Noboritai Curry," with the option to choose additional toppings. The popular dish is the jerk chicken, but the owner's recommendation is the natto (fermented soybeans). I decided to try the "Noboritai Curry Half with Natto Topping" for 600 yen, served in a mug with the restaurant's logo. There are various types of spoons available, and the curry is presented on a silver plate from the Showa era. The curry, made with sea bream dashi and lemon, has a strong spice flavor and rich dashi taste. The texture of okra adds to the experience. The natto, despite being an unusual choice, complements the dish well. Perhaps due to ordering the half portion, there was not enough curry sauce, resulting in leftover rice turning into natto rice towards the end. Despite its dubious appearance, "Airi Noboritai" offers authentic spicy curry in Fushimi.

The curry restaurant, renovated from an old folk house, has a trendy atmosphere with reggae music playing on vinyl records. It's a unique space where I wonder if there's also a DJ. The main dish, the sea bream and lemon keema curry, is refreshing with just the right amount of spice, giving it a unique taste that I personally enjoyed. Since it's still newly opened, things might change, but it seems like they also have a variety of drinks available.

Old folk house, spice curry. The classic stylish atmosphere. It's nice, but I always feel like this type of curry is not satisfying enough. Why? Maybe because I don't order the large portion? Well, it's still satisfying.
