I bought "Kyodashi Maki Shokudo" for the first time in a while. When I had it before, I remember the cucumber playing a good role, but this time it doesn't stand out. Instead, the pickled ginger shows up at key points and adds to the overall flavor of the bread. The fried egg on the surface, along with the green seaweed, create a delicate balance with the fine texture of the bread, giving it a strange and mysterious taste that seems to be on the edge of being junk food. Another one I tried, "New Bird," wraps thick slices of red ham on the surface with curry-flavored fried bread, making it clearly junk food. Some may find it cheap, while others may feel a sense of nostalgia, especially those of a certain generation. However, I think both breads have delicious bread dough.

I found a corner with a lineup of ready-made sandwiches, and noticed one with a GEBACKEN logo sticker - a pork cutlet sandwich. It seems to be a signature item at the store. However, I wanted some vegetables too, so I ended up buying a Tonkatsu Mix Sandwich Half. It had one sandwich each with egg, vegetables, and pork cutlet. The egg was rich, the vegetables were cold, and the pork cutlet had a tomato-based sauce that was only spread on the bread side, keeping the crispy texture intact. The bread itself was fluffy and delicious. By the way, I wonder what GEBACKEN means. It sounds like German.

Gebeken is a bakery that has four stores mainly located in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City. The fourth store is here. It used to be Shitsuya, but it changed without me noticing. Since there is no kitchen facility in terms of area, I assume the products are delivered from the nearby main store. I bought the "Kyoto-style Dashi Maki Restaurant." The dashi maki tasted quite sweet. It feels more like sweet rolled omelette rather than dashi maki. It also has mayonnaise and fried onions, making it quite junky. The bread itself is delicious, but the overall balance is a bit off. On another day, I bought the "Dashi Maki Sandwich." It tastes less sweet compared to the "Kyoto-style Dashi Maki Restaurant." I'm not sure if it's just the overall balance or if it's really a different seasoning. The refreshing cucumber tightens the flavor. The taste of the bread is also well understood. This one is more delicious. The price is also cheaper than Shitsuya, so I might use it occasionally.

This is located inside the north exit of Kintetsu Takeda Station. It's convenient for a quick shopping. The main store is in Fukakusa and they are famous for their rolled omelette sandwich. I bought one because it was cheaper than the mixed sandwich. It had two thin omelette slices with a dashi flavor, cucumber with mayonnaise for some reason, and two slices of bread with crust. It was very filling and cost 290 yen. It wasn't just a gimmick product, it was a proper item.

I have been eating sandwiches a lot lately. Surprisingly, they seem to be low in salt and have a decent amount of calories. I bought a vegetable sandwich for dinner for 300 yen, which was nice. The tonkatsu meat was a bit strange, but the potato sandwich was satisfying. Overall, it had a homemade feel, unlike the sandwiches from Shitsuya.

The set included a tonkatsu sandwich and an egg sandwich. It was really filling. Sandwiches are delicious after all. The tonkatsu was moist and tasty. The egg sandwich was packed full of eggs all the way to the crust! It was so full that it was falling apart as I ate it. Great value for the price.

This is a bakery located in front of the ticket gate at Takeda Station. I tried the Shin Dashimaki Shokudo, which caught my eye. I thought it would have dashimaki (Japanese rolled omelette) since it was written on the sign, but it turned out to be more like a meatless tonpeiyaki (pork pancake). It was rolled with thin layers of egg, sauce, and pickled ginger inside. It was delicious, but I was a bit disappointed because I had imagined a fluffy dashimaki. The chorizo bread had surprisingly a lot of chorizo in it! The bread was a hard type of French bread. Both were filling, cheap, and tasty!

It's a famous bakery in Kyoto. The stylish interior offers a variety of baguettes, sandwich bread, and sweets, making it hard to choose. I bought a popular bread with rolled omelette inside. It was delicious with red pickled ginger, giving it a Japanese flavor.

I was obsessed with curry bread. I wanted to eat it so badly since around 3 o'clock. On my way home, I luckily found this curry bread here. It has a half-cooked egg and bacon inside. It feels quite heavy, but I love it. It's a bit too filling and might give me heartburn, but it fills me up so much that I can't eat any other bread. Next time, I'm thinking of trying it with beer for dinner alone.

There used to be Shitsuya-san, but the shop has changed. During the morning commute, it can get quite crowded with people looking for breakfast and lunch. I personally use it on my way home, sometimes for dinner that day or for the next morning. The variety of items can vary from day to day. Sometimes the bread I want is not available, so I try something new. Many people recommend the sandwiches, but there are also bread with various fillings to enjoy. The curry bread has a unique twist, and there are also bread with cheese. Some bread use miso or yuzu pepper for a Japanese flavor. The price for one piece is somewhat high, but the volume and taste make it worth it. It's surprising to find a whole hamburger inside some bread. The base is mostly French bread, which is a bit hard. What's most pleasing is that it's not self-service. Ordering through the counter feels hygienic, and it gives a sense of security knowing that only the staff touch the food.

Sandwiches are more delicious than ready-made bread! The egg in the sandwich is packed tightly. It's rare because usually there's no crust. The miso chicken has a sweet miso flavor, and it's quite rich in taste, so people who don't like strong flavors might not enjoy it.

When I went to Hankyu Department Store after a long time, I was surprised to see that about half of the second-floor area was filled with bread! There were a variety of breads from Hankyu Department Store itself and various bakeries in Kansai, with different products available each day. Among the breads on display that day, I purchased two with a huge impact. One was a takoyaki bread, which was the most realistic in terms of appearance and taste compared to other takoyaki breads I've had before. The other was a "Fried Dashi Roll Eatery" bread, which had Kyoto-style dashi rolled inside. This bread alone seemed like a complete meal. It's interesting to see that there are unique bakeries in Kyoto as well.
