During a time of rising prices, the lunch menu prices have not changed in four years. I ordered the lunch set again, priced at 1,000 yen including tax. You can choose between a seafood or meat main dish, which comes with appetizers, soup, side dishes, rice, and dessert. The main dishes were either meat (mapo tofu) or fish (deep-fried white fish with curry-flavored sweet and sour sauce). Last time I ordered the meat dish, so this time I went with the fish option. The appetizers came out quickly, but we had to wait a bit for the main dish and other courses. It seems like they take their time to cook each dish carefully, rather than reheating pre-made food. The owner chef mentioned that the mapo tofu was quite spicy last time, and this time one of the appetizers was also a bit spicy. The main dish and the side dish of marinated sardines were tasty. The soup had a unique flavor that I hadn't tried before, but it was also delicious. However, the portion sizes were a bit small, and I didn't feel completely satisfied or full after finishing the meal.

At the request of my daughter, we decided to have Chinese food for lunch at this place near Kintetsu Ogura Station. The chef, who had a bit of a rough look, handled everything by himself. My son was having a hard time deciding between a rice bowl and the lunch set, so the chef recommended the lunch set with mapo tofu for its generous portion. My son's rice portion was huge, like something out of a manga. The mapo tofu was authentically spicy and delicious. The interior of the restaurant was clean, with jazz music playing, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

Today, I came here for the first time in this area. It's quite a local place, just a short walk from Kintetsu Kyoto Line Ogura Station. I arrived around noon, and there were no other customers. Jazz music was playing. The interior, predominantly white, had the kitchen in the back, a counter with 4 seats to the right, and 5 spacious 4-6 person tables in the front. The place is run by a man in his 50s. The menu offers a variety of dishes, from a la carte to reservation courses. I ordered the "Donburi Lunch (Mapo Don)" from the lunch menu. It arrived after a while. It's like curry rice with mapo tofu on top. The minced meat and silky tofu mixed well, with a good balance of the rich sweetness of the minced meat and the spiciness of the chili oil. The spiciness was mild but fragrant, and when eaten with the firm rice, it was delicious. The soup with pickled mustard greens had a salty and complex umami flavor, serving as a good side dish. The almond jelly dessert that came later was very sweet. I finished it without any problems. The portion was quite light, so even a small eater might find it lacking. However, this place offers authentic Chinese cuisine, making it a valuable find in this area. Good service. Thank you for the meal. Unique perspective: wheelchair accessibility - fair, no parking available.

It's been about a year since I last came here for the 1000 yen lunch set. The appetizer consists of a salad with a little bit of meat, boiled egg, edamame, and corn. It's subtly intricate. The main dish is stir-fried white fish with assorted vegetables, similar to chop suey. The daikon radish side dish is topped with a sweet and sour sauce. The soup has a mysterious and unimaginable flavor. It might get boring if you have it often, but I would like to come back for this unique Chinese cuisine that feels like it's not in town.

It's been a while since my last visit. I ordered yakisoba and a draft beer. I think it was fried yakisoba. The noodles were thin and firm. There were plenty of vegetables, including Chinese cabbage, bamboo shoots, carrots, large wood ear mushrooms, and greens. It also had mini scallops, squid, and shrimp. The sauce had a good balance of flavors, not too sweet or too spicy. However, I found it a bit lacking in excitement, despite being very well-made. Maybe trying a lunch with more intricate details would be better. It cost 1550 yen.

Located just a 2-minute walk from the west exit of Kintetsu Kyoto Line Ogura Station. I visited for lunch and ordered the 1000 yen lunch set, which includes a main dish, three appetizers, soup, side dish, rice, and dessert. For the main dish, you can choose between seafood or meat, and I chose meat. On this day, the main dish was mapo tofu. I'm not a fan of very spicy food, so I asked the owner for a milder version. They kindly accommodated my request. The mapo tofu had an authentic flavor, and the appetizers and side dishes were delicious as well. I was very satisfied with the meal.

Around 12 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, I decided to have lunch at a restaurant after looking at the menu outside. The lunch set cost 1000 yen and included three appetizers, soup, a choice between seafood or meat for the main dish, a side dish, rice, and dessert. When I entered the restaurant, there were no other customers, but two groups of three people arrived while I was eating. The owner came out and without me saying anything, he mentioned that today's main dish for lunch was either mapo tofu or some kind of fish. I was surprised as I was expecting a meat dish, but I ended up ordering the mapo tofu. I requested for it to be less spicy as I am not a fan of spicy food. It took a bit of time for the food to be served, considering the number of customers. However, the dishes were well-prepared and tasted authentic Chinese cuisine, which was satisfying. The portion size could have been a bit larger though. When I asked the owner about the spiciness of the mapo tofu at the time of payment, he mentioned that the restaurant tends to make dishes spicier, but he made it less than half the usual spiciness level. I was glad I asked for it to be less spicy in the beginning. Additionally, I had a good impression of the honest and clean atmosphere of the restaurant.

This is a shop I visit for lunch about once every six months. On this day, I was the only customer. I ordered the 1000 yen lunch set. As usual, it came with boiled egg and chicken salad as appetizers. Then, there was soup, which was normal. The braised radish had a spicy Sichuan sauce flavor! I could see the particles of chili powder in the sauce, so I knew it was homemade and not store-bought. "Did you make this Sichuan sauce yourself?" I asked. "I mixed various ingredients to make it. It includes some things that are not in store-bought versions," the chef replied. "Some Phoenix Dance restaurants have a dish called spicy chicken that uses Sichuan sauce," he added. "I haven't been to any Phoenix Dance restaurants, but I heard they have a nice building. I haven't been to any of their affiliated restaurants either," I said. "Have you been to Meishin Tei?" he asked. "You need to be told how to get there. And also places like Chikako," he continued. We enjoyed chatting for a while. The fried fish stir-fry was also delicious.

I visited again at lunchtime. I was the only customer. The appetizers were marinated char siu, boiled egg, and pickled daikon. The squid with curry flavor sauce was very tender. Maybe the hidden knife technique is good. The steamed eggplant was a bit bland, but it had an elegant sweet and sour sauce on top. I declined the almond jelly as I am on a diet. I was shown a small world for 1000 yen. As I was leaving, three more customers arrived, which was a bit reassuring. Lunch is definitely the way to go! I have been here a few times for dinner recently. The sweet and sour pork, boiled dumplings, are exceptionally delicious. Apr. 2016 It may be too conventional to be interesting at times. However, the dishes are carefully prepared. I found this place on Tabelog and had been wanting to visit. It is located right next to Kintetsu Ogura Station on the west side. [Mar. 2016] The interior is not very typical of a Chinese restaurant, it is clean and simple. The lunch set includes mapo tofu rice bowl for 850 yen, and a choice of meat or fish for 1000 yen. There is also an 1800 yen set. The mapo tofu rice bowl was a bit salty due to the doubanjiang. The lunch set is better. The photo shows the 1000 yen meat set. The appetizers were not particularly surprising, but there were some elaborately prepared dishes like pressed tofu. The soup is not like the cheap restaurants, it is a decent dish. The chicken with chili mayo is a proper fried chicken with a spicy chili sauce. The plate decoration is stylish. However, it was a bit too rich for me. The corn dumplings were a nice change of pace. Cabbage was used instead of paper in the steamer. I think the dishes were well executed. It was surprisingly not crowded for some reason. May 2015

Ren's, a Chinese restaurant in front of Kokura Station, has incredibly delicious fried rice. However, the other dishes are honestly lacking in flavor. The quality for the price is a bit tough to swallow. Personally, I think this type of restaurant would be better received with set courses. The chef's skills are outstanding, but that alone may not make the restaurant popular. With the right approach, it could become a popular spot with long lines.

Cold noodles, fried rice, sweet and sour pork, dumplings, spring rolls, shrimp chili, fried chicken, and yakisoba with thick sauce... We went as a group of four and ordered about 10 dishes. Everything was delicious. The restaurant was very clean and the service was polite. The yakisoba had a slightly crispy texture, but it was good. My husband didn't like it, but I enjoyed it, so tastes may vary. The thick sauce was incredibly tasty. My husband even said he just wanted the sauce. The noodles were a bit less, but the sauce was full of vegetables and ingredients. Although I focused on the yakisoba in my comments, all the other dishes were unanimously delicious among my family. We didn't have a round table, but each dish came with enough plates for everyone, creating a sense of 'sharing food together'. The almond jelly dessert was also excellent.
