I stopped by while visiting the supermarket. At Chateraise, I bought my favorite an butter croissant, as well as other items like cream puffs and red bean paste filled cakes. There is a discounted section for items that can be eaten on the same day, so I recommend checking that out for quick snacks.

I found a flyer from Chateraise. Oh, they also have wine, it's their Spring Wine Fair. They have limited edition fresh wine that caught my interest. You can buy a refillable bottle and have it filled from the barrel, and this flyer comes with a voucher for a special bottle. I think I'll take this opportunity. The limited edition is a Riesling variety. I like the idea of having a bottle like this.

There was an advertisement for Chateraise, mentioning their additive-free duck wafers. I had tried their additive-free bread and pudding before, but only bought them once. When I visited the store, I found grape bread, torn fluffy bread, Baumkuchen, madeleine, and other items labeled as additive-free. Their definition of additive-free means they do not use emulsifiers, leavening agents, or preservatives. They also do not use yeast food in their bread. The ingredients were not overly simple, using fermented butter and Hokkaido wheat. The madeleine and small duck wafers called "Smile Koron" were delicious.

This is Shatoreze at Showa Town Plaza. I bought Morino Tomodachi as a souvenir, as well as habanero rice crackers, shrimp mayo rice crackers, and pancake-like snacks. Shatoreze is surprisingly cheap, as always.

In August 2016, I received some sweets and ate them. I want to visit a shop in Muroran that also sells them and check them out. In November 2009, I noticed that Shatoreze and Rokkatei are facing each other inside the Hokuren Shop. I wonder if they have their own fans or if people separate what they buy from each shop. Considering the prices, I think it might be difficult to find deep flavors at Shatoreze. I have seen them selling items close to their expiration date at a discount, so it might be a good idea to buy a variety and taste them. The rice cakes and steamed buns are also cheap. The roll cake was quite delicious.

Hokuren Shop has a tenant inside, which is basically a place to grab some snacks after shopping. I bought some vegetables at Hokuren Shop because they have good quality ones. I decided to get a cup of "mitarashi dango" for 135 yen as a treat. It's a mini size but the price is great. The dango has a slightly firm texture and the mitarashi sauce is quite sweet. It's a nice treat after shopping, even though I wasn't really tired. It was delicious. I'll definitely come back again.

I have used Shatoreze several times in Sapporo, but I was surprised to find one in Hakodate! They recommended the Iso Be Mochi, so I couldn't resist buying it. It was cheap, delicious, and chewy. They also had cute cakes like the sheep cake, but when it comes to Shatoreze, frozen foods are a must! You can buy a pizza for just around 200 yen... amazing! The ice cream, especially the melon flavor, was a hit with the kids and priced at just over 50 yen each. I also bought corn ice cream and cheesecake in bulk. Since there are a lot in one pack, it's great for bringing to parties. I definitely want to go back in the summer and stock up on ice cream. The variety of frozen treats like frozen jelly and frozen daifuku is impressive. I usually don't spend much time in there, but since it's inside the Hokuren shop, it's fun to browse while shopping. They also have Freshness Burger, a bakery, and even Takoyaki, so there's a lot to enjoy. I'll definitely be stopping by to buy more ice cream.

I went to "Chatres" on this day. I have used "Chatres" many times before, but this time it was a long time since my last visit, and it was my first time visiting the Hakodate store. I went to buy some cakes, but on this day, I was drawn to the Japanese sweets and ended up buying "Sweet Potato Dorayaki," "Bean Daifuku," and also a few different cakes. The cakes were delicious, but after trying cakes from various shops, my taste buds have become more refined, so they seemed average. As for the Japanese sweets, I don't usually eat them at all, so they tasted delicious (lol), especially the Sweet Potato Dorayaki. It's convenient being inside the Hokuren Shop, so I will visit again. Thank you for the meal! (^^)

I bought some pumpkin sweets at a print kabocha shop. They were very cheap, and I felt like I could visit every day. As a big fan of pudding, I really enjoyed the pudding they had. It was firm like it was made with lots of eggs, which I like. They have both large and small sizes. They also offer ice cream, Japanese sweets, Western sweets, and the prices are reasonable. They have cakes displayed in the showcase as well. Since it's located inside a supermarket, it seems like many people stop by while shopping at the supermarket. It was very crowded, although it may depend on the time of day.

Shatoreze is a well-known and affordable confectionery shop. They offer a wide variety of products similar to Rokkatei, but at a much lower price. While older people who value brands might not be impressed, I decided to try their baked pudding. It cost 105 yen. If you prefer a thick type of pudding, this might not be for you, but I quite enjoyed it. For the price, it was surprisingly tasty. It's firm, with a slightly less sweet taste that pairs well with the caramel. Considering the price, it's definitely worth it! They also sell cakes and ice cream at very low prices. It could be a great snack for kids. The shop is located inside the Hokuren shop, and it closes earlier than Hokuren, at 9 p.m.

When I went shopping at Hokuren Shop, I mostly used it as a convenient stop. Speaking of Chateraise, it is a chain Western confectionery store, but there is only one in Hakodate. They sell cakes at reasonable prices and are open until 9 pm, so I occasionally use it. They have both regular and seasonal cakes. Considering that you can buy one for around 200 yen, the cost performance is very good compared to other stores. In addition to cakes, they also have products that can be stored for a few days, such as daifuku, pudding, cream puffs, and ice cream, making it a satisfactory everyday cake shop. I like the daifuku sold in the refrigerated case as it feels like eating Western sweets.
