The skin was much crispier than what you would imagine as crepe, almost like a different thing altogether. However, the taste was really good. It's a bit pricey but since you're in Kyoto, it's a nice place to have a fancy dessert. When I visited around 3 pm, it was not crowded and I was able to get in right away.

Dinner - Galette with Ham, Egg, Cheese, and Salad at Yasaka Kanko Visited around 18:00 after sightseeing in Yasaka. You will be served a freshly baked galette with a dynamic visual presentation. When you open the triangular roof, you will find a half-cooked egg inside. The salty flavor of the ham is quite strong, and it pairs perfectly with the galette and salad. The hospitality of the owner is impressive. I would like to visit again to try their crepes next time.

No reservation needed, no wait. Visited alone for 40 minutes. Price: 1000 yen per person. Recommended by Harmonica Kyoto, I visited and tried the dish. The crust was crispy and chewy, very delicious. The galette also looked delicious, so I will come back when I visit Kyoto again. Sesame and homemade caramel sauce.

Saturday 15:30, Galson Crepe. It's been a long time since I last visited. There were two groups of customers before us. I remember the cheese and honey galette being very delicious, but I couldn't find it on the menu this time, so I opted for a sweet crepe. It was recommended to me and it was delicious. The interior of the restaurant is quite small, so in the colder seasons, it may feel even more cramped with coats and such. The service was warm and the taste was also delicious. In terms of price, it is significantly higher compared to regular crepe stalls, but the taste and presentation set it apart, so it's understandable. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Freshly cooked banana and homemade caramel crepe for 980 yen. Ice cafe latte for 480 yen. I noticed this sign while passing by and decided to check it out. It's a shop specializing in galettes and crepes. I was particularly intrigued by the "freshly cooked banana" and decided to order the crepe with freshly cooked banana and homemade caramel. It looked simple but very delicious. When I took a bite, the chewy crepe was filled with plenty of freshly cooked banana paste. The banana, cooked to perfection, was sweet and delicious. It was evenly spread throughout the crepe, so you could taste the banana in every bite. The edges of the crepe were crispy and caramelized, adding to the deliciousness. The caramel was not too sweet, and the natural sweetness of the banana made it easy to finish the whole crepe in one go. The staff were friendly, and I felt comfortable. I would love to bring my friends here next time. *Payment is cash only.

I finally visited Creperie, a place I've been curious about for a while. It is located right next to Yasaka Tower. I parked at a nearby coin parking lot and walked to the shop. It's a small shop with only four 2-person tables. I was lucky to find one table available and sat down. I ordered the following items from the menu: - Freshly cooked banana and Nutella chocolate crepe for 980 yen - Nutella crepe for 880 yen with ice cream topping - 2 cups of hot coffee for 480 yen each. The crepes were served with a knife and fork. The crepes had a beautiful dark brown color and a simple yet elegant appearance. The texture of the crepe was firm, and it had a noticeable sweetness from the syrup, but it wasn't heavy. Surprisingly, it was crispy and easy to eat. Inside, there was a coating of chocolate with soft, sweet bananas. The combination of banana and chocolate is a classic flavor, but the chocolate and crepe alone made a satisfying dessert. It had a strong and punchy flavor compared to the lighter, less sweet desserts I've had recently. It had a rustic, traditional taste but was still a sweet treat. I felt like adding ice cream or strawberries, as my companion did, would make it a milder experience. It was a unique flavor that I had never tasted before. I understood that this was the real taste of crepes.

I had passed by this charming little cafe with an eye-catching sign many times, and I had been wanting to visit for a while. Finally, I had the chance to go for a solo brunch right after they opened. The interior was cozy, and it seemed like the father and son were running the place - the father managing the floor and the son in charge of cooking. I ordered a caramel galette and a hot tea. The galette arrived first, with a crispy and fragrant crust and a chewy texture inside. It was delicious, and I finished it quickly, wanting more but holding back since I was dining alone. I'll save that for next time. It was a delightful meal. Thank you!

The crepe shop is highly praised for its authentic and delicious crepe. The previous location was in a narrow alley in Kawaramachi, but it seems they have moved since then. I had dessert there before, so this time I tried their galette for brunch. The galette (with egg, chicken smoke, and cheese) was ¥1280. The galette dough is so delicious. It was shaped like a pyramid, with chicken smoke and cheese at the top, and eggs inside. Breaking down the pyramid and eating it together was just amazing.

Visited Crepe Galson on Sunday at 12:00 because I wanted to eat a galette. I had always been curious about it but had just passed by without entering (because it was hard to see inside), but I finally decided to visit. As I was about to enter, I saw a man's figure reflected on the glass in front of the door. I thought it was a customer coming out, so I took a step back, but then the door opened and the man said, "Welcome!" It turned out to be the man from the shop. The interior of the shop was small, with only one couple as the previous customers. It seemed like they only had tables for two. I was also guided to a table for two. I looked through the menu and pondered for a while. The man who was at the door explained, "I recommend the dessert crepe. The ratatouille is still being prepared, and today we have cranberry juice." I decided to order the 32 Ham and Cheese Galette for 980 yen, and added honey and blue cheese for 480 yen. I also ordered the cranberry juice for 580 yen. I wanted to order cider, but it seemed like they didn't have any alcohol menu that day. It seemed like the cooking was done by the son and another man. I wonder if that's why it's called Galson Crepe. The father would go back to the door when an order was placed and check the outside. Maybe it's his usual spot. At 12:07, the galette arrived. By the time it arrived, the previous customers had left, so I was the only one left. The folded pyramid-like galette was impressive and had a unique appearance. The aroma made my expectations rise. The cranberry juice was also brought later. The generous amount of juice in the glass made me happy. I was told to crush it from the middle. I felt nervous about destroying this beautiful structure, but I followed the instructions and cut it with a knife. The crispy texture of the dough was amazing. When I cut it into bite-sized pieces and put it in my mouth, the taste was shocking. I don't usually like blue cheese, but the combination of the cheese's saltiness and the honey's sweetness was beyond my imagination. It was like a marriage of flavors that exceeded simple addition. The price of 1,500 yen for the galette and over 2,000 yen with the drink is not cheap, but it was undeniably delicious. It felt like a completely different food from the galettes I had eaten before. I used to avoid it with my biased assumptions (like having cheesy male staff and only young girls as customers), but I regret that now. This galette is enchanting and I can understand why people can get obsessed with it. One galette won't make you full, but my heart was satisfied by this wonderful food. The two male staff members were polite and had a high likability factor, and their customer service exuded warmth. I want to try more varieties of food. Next time, I want to revisit with a girl who would enjoy this kind of place. Thank you for the meal.

I had a traditional local dish called "galette," which originated in the Brittany region of France, for brunch. It's a casual snack rather than a formal French dish. Toppings like ham, cheese, eggs, and vegetables are placed on a warm, golden-brown triangular piece of thin dough, which feels like breaking a thin piece of glass when cut with a knife. The buckwheat flavor is not overpowering. The buttery aroma, melted cheese, and runny eggs cooked just right complement each other perfectly.

The Galson Crepe I've been longing for so much...!!! I thought maybe it wasn't meant to be, with timing not working out or mistakenly going on a day off, but I'm so glad I went!!! They didn't have it on the menu, but they said they have a crepe with pumpkin, nuts, caramel sauce, and marshmallow, so I ordered that. I had my eye on the Nutella chocolate crepe, but it lost to the autumn flavor - and ordering it was a great decision...! The crepe had a perfect mix of crispy and chewy, and it was delicious on its own. The marshmallow inside, caramel sauce drizzled on top, it was sweet but the pumpkin and nuts toned down the sweetness just right. The staff were very polite and I felt very comfortable, leaving in a good mood as well. Good customer service is surprisingly rare... This place is definitely at the top of my list to revisit. Next time, I'll try the galette!! If you want to eat delicious crepes, you should come here!!!

The appearance may be rustic, but the crepe dough is chewy and slightly salty, with a delicious banana and chocolate sauce that isn't too sweet. The galette has a crispy crust. This place is definitely worth the hype, I think. Despite its rustic appearance, it's delicious. I would love to come back again.

When I visited Kyoto, I stopped by this café for a break. The interior was very stylish and had a calm atmosphere, and a friendly middle-aged gentleman welcomed me. I ordered crepes with apple and caramel, as well as crepes with strawberries, along with a drink. The crepes had a crispy texture and the aroma of caramel spread in my mouth from the first bite. As I continued eating, the inside had a chewy thin crust that perfectly matched the sweetness of the apples. The coffee I ordered went well with the sweetness of the crepes, and its bitterness and richness were delicious. I would love to go back again!

[Overall Review] Located about a 10-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station in Kyoto. This is a crepe and galette shop along Higashioji Street. I indulged in both this time, and as expected from a specialty shop, the dough itself is delicious (^_^) It has a chewy and moist texture with a crispy outer layer. The contrast is very well done. While there are many tourist-oriented shops in this area, this shop is a genuine, high-quality establishment. [Details] About a 10-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station towards Kodai-ji Temple. The shop is located along Higashioji Street. The exterior is simple with all-white walls and just a door, but you can spot it by the French flag and menu board. Inside, it stretches long and narrow with 6 two-person tables. The tables are lined up in a straight line along the aisle. I'm not sure about the kitchen, but the owner (?) and his son (probably) manage the place. The menu is divided into galettes (buckwheat crepes) and crepes. There are various types based on the toppings. The drinks mainly consist of coffee and tea, but they also serve wine and beer (^_^) I ordered a standard galette and crepe each this time, along with a hot coffee (480 yen). - Ham, Cheese, and Egg Galette 1,080 yen It arrived folded in a pyramid shape. It has a dark brown color with a light sprinkling of Italian parsley? It's quite thin but has a chewy and moist texture. The outer layer is crispy. There is no wheat-like stickiness, and it melts lightly in the mouth. The egg inside is half-cooked, and the ham used is roast ham. The quality of the ham is quite high. It's a simple composition, but the dough itself is so delicious that it's a very satisfying piece. This is really delicious. - Homemade Caramel 800 yen This is even crispier than the crepe/galette but still has a chewy texture. The dough itself is as delicious as the galette. The slightly bitter caramel is best enjoyed simply (^_^) [Final Thoughts] Both the galette and crepe are very well made. The portion size may be slightly lacking, but the taste is very satisfying. While there are many tourist-oriented shops in this area, this place competes with its taste. The total bill for today was 2,360 yen. Thank you for the meal.

New Year's Day is synonymous with hatsumode (first shrine visit). I went to the shrine early this year. The line for purchasing amulets, drawing omikuji (fortune slips), and praying was very long. The shrine was crowded with people who had come from afar and foreign tourists. I bought my usual amulet, drew an omikuji, and finished praying. After waiting in the cold to pray, I wanted to warm up, so I searched for a cozy shop. I found a place where I could eat galettes, so I went there right away. The shop serves galettes and crepes from the Brittany region of France. The sign is a figure holding a tree branch-like object. The shop has a cozy atmosphere with 10 table seats. It was almost full inside, but there was a small makeshift seating area in the back where I was directed to sit. The crepes looked delicious, but I had never tried galettes before. It seemed like a family-run business, with what looked like the son cooking and the parents serving. The father, who was serving, provided detailed explanations about galettes. He recommended the Cheese Galette (880 yen) with Blue Cheese and Honey topping (480 yen). The galette is a crepe made with buckwheat flour, and when it was brought to me, I was surprised by its appearance. It looked like a triangular house and had a wonderful aroma of buckwheat and blue cheese. When eaten with the surrounding honey, it was so delicious that I couldn't think of anything else. I also ordered a cup of Cider (880 yen), which had a delicious apple aroma and flavor. It was so tasty that I ended up having two cups. Overall, the galettes, drinks, and service were all fantastic. I was lucky to find such a wonderful restaurant early in the new year. I highly recommend this place to everyone on Tabelog. I plan to visit again this year. Thank you to the father for the fantastic service and delicious galettes.

There is a shop along the bus road between Yasaka and Kiyomizu, with a small entrance and a long, narrow interior resembling a bed for eels. The entrance has a cute sign that looks like it came out of a picture book. I thought maybe the chef was a father figure, as there was a kind elderly man serving in the hall. The interior of the shop is like a slightly adult, simple space like a bar. I learned that they serve galettes as a meal and crepes for dessert. After having a delicious lunch, we decided to try the crepes. Even though we both enjoy sweets, we are not big fans of them, so we shared one crepe which turned out to be more than enough. It was quite large, with chunks of apple and a salted caramel flavor. It also came with delicious milk ice cream. We also had an iced coffee to cool down after walking a lot in the heat. The crepe was crispy and fragrant, with a rich buttery aroma. It was quite filling but delicious. Next time, I would like to try the galette for a meal. Thank you for the meal!

As usual, amidst the hustle and bustle of Higashioji Street, I once again missed the shop on the opposite lane and had to circle back from the south. I ordered the Blue Cheese and Honey Topping Galette, which I really enjoyed last time. It had a crispy finish and a fragrant aroma, very delicious! I couldn't resist ordering a second one. I also tried the Apple Compote Crepe, which was a common crepe filling but the texture of the crepe itself was delicious. Surprisingly, there were no foreign tourists today despite the crowded street earlier. It was nice to be able to enjoy my meal in a more relaxed atmosphere. That's all for my latest food adventure at this cafe~

After the second regular observation this month at Tanki-san, I headed south on the bustling Higashioji Street, crowded with travelers from both inside and outside the country. Despite being cautious, I ended up missing the shops on the opposite side. Hurriedly returning, I arrived at the shop and was surprised to find that all the customers, except me, were inbound tourists. I was puzzled by the idea of eating crepes or galettes in Kyoto. I ordered the Blue Cheese and Honey Topping Galette, which had a crispy tent-like structure and was visually appealing. It was my first time trying such a crispy galette, and I found it delicious. I also tried the Nut and Caramel Crepe, which was not as crispy as the galette but still had a good texture. I wondered if the unique crispy texture was popular among inbound tourists. Overall, it was a satisfying experience at this restaurant.
