I went to Nanajo to buy some delicious bread for lunch. I found a cute little bakery near the high-end "Nama" bread shop. When I arrived around 12:30, most of the bread was already sold out. I think they must have baked more in the afternoon. I bought all hard baguettes. The crust was crispy and chewy, making it a bit difficult to bite into. But the more you chew, the more delicious it becomes. The toppings on the sandwiches like chorizo, tomato, and bacon were very tasty. I also bought a butter salt bread which was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it, even though I was worried about the calories. My wife and kids agreed that it was dangerously good. It was so delicious - thank you for the meal!

Located near my regular route, there was a bakery that I had been curious about. It is right behind a branch of a super famous high-end bread shop on Nishioji Street. Since it was lunchtime, I decided to stop by for lunch. Normally, there is a cafe space as well, but due to the state of emergency, only takeout was available. There was only one customer inside when I arrived, and it was still early for lunch, so the selection was good. There were so many bread options that it was hard to choose! I finally picked out a few favorites and put them on a tray. I took a long time to decide, so I might have been seen as a difficult customer. Today's selection included a Bagel Sandwich with salmon and cream cheese, a Bagel with sweet potato, a soy milk Coppe bread (I forgot the official name), and a Bread Olive Bagel. The Bagels were just the right balance of dense and soft, which I like when eating a sandwich. The sweet potato Bagel was not overly sweet as some sweet potato bread tends to be, probably due to the natural sweetness of the ingredients. It was delicious on its own or as a sandwich. The Coppe bread was surprisingly light and soft, and I finished it quickly (I ate it plain without any toppings). The Bread Olive Bagel had a shape like a sheath with olives and was perfect for pairing with wine. The moist texture of the bread, combined with the right amount of saltiness from the olives, was excellent. There are still many bread options that I haven't tried, so I would love to visit again. I wonder what I will try next time. It was so delicious! Thank you for the meal.

Minamina Cream Pan - ¥150
This is my second visit today. The bread here sells out quickly after it's baked. I recommend visiting at the time when the bread you want is ready. I came here on my way back from Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama. I was greeted with "Welcome back." I visited again after being told to come by 2:00 PM, but most of the bread shelves were sold out. However, I managed to get the popular cream pan. I ate it while it was still warm and it was delicious with a custard cream flavored with vanilla beans and orange puree. The dough is thin and elastic, similar to mochi. I will definitely come back again. Location: 83-1 Nijoshojonomachi, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto.

I tried the "Chorizo France" for ¥240 at Mina_mina. The chorizo was spicy and delicious with whole grain Dijon mustard. The soft French bread was amazing. I found my favorite bakery in Nishioji, Kyoto. It's always crowded with customers. Located at 83-1 Shichijo Gosho no Uchihoncho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto.

The dish made with butter soy milk has a noticeable sweetness, with a chewy yet crispy texture on the outside. I preferred the baguette, but this is also delicious. The bacon epi baguette has a smooth red bean paste filling with a jelly-like seaweed flavor. The bread is chewy and the cream is rich with a strong egg taste. The orange peel and vanilla beans add a delicious touch.

My husband and I are not fans of hard bread, but we decided to visit a famous bagel shop. I heard great things about their "anpan" and curry bread, and I was curious about the texture and taste. Unfortunately, both were sold out when we arrived. We ended up getting a raisin bread and a small orange and lemon bread for breakfast. We also bought a cream cheese bread that was freshly baked. I was surprised by the rich flavor of the bread dough, and the more I chewed, the more the taste came out. The raisins inside were plentiful and delicious, I even felt like snacking on them separately. It's no wonder this popular shop sells out quickly. Even though we missed out on what we wanted, we still enjoyed the experience and may consider trying their hard bread in the future. Thank you for the delicious food. I recommend checking their Facebook for their operating days and sold-out status. Their eat-in space is currently closed. The shop is located behind "Nogami" on Nishioji Hachijo Avenue. Please note that the street in front of the shop is a one-way street facing east, so you may need to go around from Nishikoji Street.

Today, I visited a popular bakery near Hachijo Nishioji.
mina_mina seems to be a renovated bakery in an old machiya (traditional townhouse). The store has a space for selling bread and an eat-in area. They bake their bread until 1pm and close once they sell out for the day.
When I visited around 3pm, they only had madeleines and anpan left. It's a popular spot, as customers kept coming in one after another. Luckily, I was able to get some bread.
I decided to have the bread as a snack.
- Anpan: Priced at 100 yen each, it's a reasonable choice. The bread was soft and the sweet red bean paste was moist with a hint of sesame flavor.
- Madeleine: Comes in a set of two. They had a beautiful golden color and a rich buttery flavor.
It's great to have affordable bread options. Although I only bought the last two remaining bread items this time, I would like to visit the shop earlier next time and try their other bread varieties.

Cute-sized bread like rolls, bagels, and French bread. There is a nice space at the back where you can buy drinks and eat in. The orange peel cream bread is fluffy and light with a rich cream that isn't too sweet, making it delicious! The sweet potato bagel has sesame seeds on top and is filled with plenty of sweet potato. The multi-grain dough has a rich flavor. The walnut bagel has walnuts in the same dough as the sweet potato. It has a good balance of saltiness. The flavors are simple and delicious, so I would definitely go back if it's nearby.

I happened to come across a café while riding my bike, it was already well past noon at Nishioji Hachijo. I found a café nearby, a bakery in a traditional townhouse, of course with a café attached. There was no signboard, just the name of the shop written modestly on the glass window. Peeking inside, I could see delicious bread. I selected my favorite bread at the bakery in front, paid for it along with a drink at the counter, and then waited in the café at the back. The café had two tables with soft sofa seats. As I sat down, I could feel the gentle warmth from the fireplace burning wood. Through the glass door at the back, I could see a courtyard.
- Cuscute (200 yen)
- Hot coffee (350 yen)
The cuscute here resembles the one from Hayashi Bakery in Katsura! The cozy warmth of the fireplace and the delicious bread with coffee made for a very relaxing time. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a lovely café in this location. Next time you're in the Nishioji area, be sure to stop by. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Memo:
This hidden gem of a bakery is located inside Nijō Gosho. It's a quiet spot off to the west of Nishioji Street, blending in perfectly with the serene surroundings. I visited on November 10, 2018. It's a hidden bakery in Nijō Gosho Uchishinmachi. My wife discovered it, and we decided to visit on this holiday. It's within a 30-minute walking distance from our home, making it easily accessible for us. In Kyoto, the more you walk, the more discoveries you make, so I think driving around is a waste. The store retains the atmosphere of a traditional townhouse, with a stylish café space at the back. The items I purchased are listed below. The bagels are moist and chewy, simply delightful. They have a rich and intense flavor. The pizza is a voluminous dish loaded with zucchini and bell peppers, a real treat. You can fully enjoy the juicy flavors of the vegetables. The whole wheat bread, when toasted, releases a fragrant aroma that stimulates the appetite. These delicious breads take time to bake, so it's better to visit with some time to spare to encounter a wide variety of breads. I would love to visit this place again.

The baguette is consistently delicious. The curry bread with spring vegetables has a slightly sweet but adequately spiced curry paste baked into it, making it delicious. Unfortunately, the cream bread was sold out.
Baguette (made with Hokkaido wheat flour) has a chewy texture and a delicious wheat aroma. Pain aux raisins has plenty of raisins, almost masking the taste of the bread. It seems like it would go well with cheese when thinly sliced.

I received a red bean paste bun from someone I trust. It was packed with filling, chewy, and truly delicious. I will have to go back to buy more of this and other items. Thank you very much!

I might love it!!! The atmosphere is great, the bread is great (obviously). What's more, thanks to the time I went, freshly baked bread keeps appearing on the shelves one after another. And they are all different kinds, rather than mass-producing the same thing. It seems like the person making them is enjoying themselves, which makes me happy. It's not a mechanical shop. I love it! I didn't know there was such a wonderful shop in the neighborhood!! No photos... crying.
