Today, I came here. In the Reiwa era, I started exploring Kyoto slowly on holidays and such. According to reviews, this place seems to be a long-established shop. I arrived around 1:30 pm. There were 2 customers before me and no customers after me. The interior of the shop, full of a popular feeling like the exterior, has a kitchen on the left side and a red, deformed counter with about 15 seats along it. Huh? The second generation?! I had imagined it was probably an old man with a weathered look, but there was a bit of a gap between that and the shop. It is likely run by a couple in their 40s. The menu consists of "ramen" with different toppings and quantities of chashu, wonton, and menma. There are also set meals with rice, pickles, and salad, yakimeshi, ramen toppings served as a side dish, alcohol, and more. The wonton ramen caught my attention, as the chashu seemed to be delicious. The soup, slightly cloudy and white, is a soy sauce-flavored tonkotsu base. It has a gentle umami taste of animal ingredients followed by a fragrant soy sauce flavor that smoothly enters with each sip, making it easy to drink and refreshing, yet deep and satisfying. The noodles are extremely thin straight noodles with a square cross-section. They are slightly soft, served with a flat sieve and chopsticks, but they are supple, have good interaction with the soup, and have a smooth and light texture. The toppings include chashu with a good balance of lean and fatty meat, 3 slices of hand-cut chashu with a chewy and mochi-like texture, 5 handmade wontons with a firm skin and packed with meat, finely cut green onions with a crunchy texture and aroma, and soft and thin menma. Despite looking plain, the quality of each topping is exceptionally high, providing satisfaction with every bite. I finished the meal while savoring the flavors. The generous amount of noodles and abundant toppings left me feeling full. The overall balance was exquisite, giving an impression of something that would lift your spirits. It might have been even better with grated garlic from the table. Oh, there are still hidden gem restaurants out there. The seemingly nonchalant owner had a humble and friendly demeanor. Delicious! Thank you for the meal. Personal note: Accessibility for wheelchairs is average, Western-style toilets are available, and there is parking space for 2 cars next to the shop (see photo).
