I had the 2 kinds of curry set, Spicy Chicken Curry and Venison & Bamboo Shoot Ginger Keema Curry, for 1300 yen. Both curries were delicious. The side dishes were also carefully prepared and nicely presented. I was happy to see quail eggs included. They have their original spicy seasoning. It was mentioned that they run a children's cafeteria, and I could imagine children enjoying the curry. The restaurant is located in the outskirts of Kyoto. It's better to access by car. You can also visit the nearby shopping center while you're there.

It was surprising to find such a restaurant tucked away from the busy street lined with large stores. Their curry menu offers a choice of 3 curries, which can be mixed in sets of 2 or 3. On the day of the visit, the limited edition curry was "Mackerel and Hijiki Hive Curry", the vegetable curry was "Bean Curry", and the meat curry was "Spinach Chicken Curry". The curries change approximately every month. I chose a set of limited edition curry + meat curry, while my companion chose meat curry + vegetable curry. The curries were served on a plate with various toppings, allowing customers to mix and match as they please. The "Mackerel and Hijiki" and "Spinach and Chicken" were both well-cooked and blended nicely with the sauce. However, the curries were not very spicy, more on the mild side, but packed with spices. It seems like adding extra spiciness would enhance the flavors of the curry.

Today's lunch was at "Kyoto Spice Curry KAAYA". Located along a narrow road two blocks west of the Konan Rokujizo store in Fushimi-ku, Shin-Koganesu Kaido, this spice curry restaurant is nestled in a normal residential area with hair salons and leather workshops. The modern interior is warm with a base of wood. The concept is mixing and matching. You can choose from six types of curry. It's unusual to have two types plus a mini curry instead of three mixed together. I opted for the "Special (small portion)" for 1150 yen. I sat at the counter facing the wall. The joy of spice curry is explained on the wall. The basic is mild, and the spiciness is adjusted with spicy spices. The colorful curries arrived, making me excited. The mini curry was the seasonal limited "Spring Chrysanthemum and Taro Soy Milk Curry". The soy milk was mild. The texture of lotus root and cashew nuts was interesting. The main plate was symmetrical and beautiful. In the center was ancient black genmai mixed grain rice. Toppings included pickles, flavored quail eggs, and some kind of fry. The pork keema curry had chunky minced meat, providing a rich meaty flavor with a hint of spice. Adding the spicy paste brought a fresh spiciness. It might become addictive. The basic chicken curry had well-spiced chicken, a classic curry. Despite its quirky location, this is an authentic and cozy spice curry restaurant.

The interior had a warm and gentle atmosphere filled with the warmth of wood. There were five different types of curry, each with a unique flavor, and they were all enjoyable with gentle flavors. It was nice to be able to adjust the spiciness with the spices on the table. The rice was a slightly purple multigrain rice, and the side dishes were scattered throughout, so I could enjoy them until the end without getting tired. The dessert and drink were also enjoyable for an additional 200 yen, and the cookies were delicious with a hint of spice! The chai had a good amount of spice and was delicious with a subtle sweetness, and the homemade lemonade had a nice acidity and was delicious too! I look forward to the future developments, such as starting a children's dining room! Congratulations on the opening (11/12/2021)!

On November 12th, a new spice curry restaurant opened nearby! They offer 5 types of curry: A) Chicken curry B) Pork keema curry C) Bean and vegetable curry D) Fish curry E) Mushroom curry. Standard set for 1000 yen allows you to choose 2 types from A to E, while the special set for 1200 yen lets you choose 3 types (one in mini size). My wife had the standard set with chicken curry and mushroom curry (medium spicy), while I had the special set with chicken curry, pork keema curry, and bean and vegetable curry (mini size) (spicy). All the curries were very spicy, even the medium spicy ones were quite hot. I ordered the spicy one and ended up sweating a lot! For dessert, they offer a set for 200 yen including your choice of soft drink and a bite-sized dessert with 3 types: vanilla ice cream and 2 cookies. The cookies were spiced cookies? I'm glad such a delicious curry restaurant opened nearby. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely go back!
