I visited around 7:00 PM on a Saturday night. The restaurant was almost full. I ordered the Shogatsu-yaki with all the ingredients, yakisoba, and tofu steak. In addition to okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and monjayaki, there are many teppanyaki menu items. Although there is a teppan at the table, all the dishes come out already cooked. The yakisoba was chewy because it was boiled from fresh noodles. They offer a variety of menu items such as Mega Highball and all-you-can-eat courses. Overall, I found the sauce to be a bit sweet and the portion sizes to be small. The restaurant was lively with many young people. If you prefer to eat slowly and chat, it might be better to come at a different time. However, I was impressed by the young staff members who worked efficiently.

I went to Okonomiyaki Shougetsu in Ichijoji with my husband. The area on Kitaoji Street heading north from Higashiyama Street is known as "Ramen Street". In that area, you can find Shougetsu, an okonomiyaki restaurant. It seems to attract a lot of young customers and families. The staff are all energetic and young, with smiles, loud voices, sincerity, and great yakisoba skills. We started with a toast with draft beer and some edamame. They also served us a complimentary egg, which we enjoyed as a simple fried egg on the hot plate. We ordered the seafood salt yakisoba, recommended by a cute staff member who mentioned she had made the advertisement for it. It was delicious with shrimp, squid, and scallops on thick original noodles. We also had a refill of yuzu sake and mountain grape sake. Then, we tried the signature Shougetsu okonomiyaki, which was filled with various ingredients and cooked perfectly. We were very satisfied with the meal. We also saw a limited couple's course for 3000 yen, which included drinks and dessert. We came back another day to try this special menu. We enjoyed grilling the chicken, sand liver, and bean sprouts ourselves, as well as the pork balls. The staff praised my husband's grilling skills. The mango sundae special dessert was served, but it was only one serving for the couple. We shared it in turns to avoid arguments. The strawberries were also limited to one per person. It was indeed a good deal for 3000 yen. We might try the special couple's course next time, but for now, we'll stick to the seafood salt yakisoba and Shougetsu okonomiyaki.

Old-fashioned powder shop with a nostalgic atmosphere and tables with iron plates. The place is clean and well-maintained, giving off a Showa era vibe. The staff are friendly and provide good service. They offer a variety of dishes, and eating on the iron plate adds an extra touch to the experience. Highly recommend the yakisoba, which is made with thick, chewy noodles that go well with the sauce and have a satisfying texture. The portions are generous, fitting for a student town. (Even the orange juice ordered for a child came in a large glass.)

Jumbo Modern is a place with generous portions! It's just the right size for two people to enjoy while chatting. However, you must order one dish per person, so be aware of that. They offer a variety of side dishes as well. The noodles at Modern are said to be carefully selected and very delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is enhanced by the slightly old music playing, which can also be a good conversation starter while waiting for your food. It's nice that there are storage compartments under the seats. Although the restaurant is a bit far from the main area, they have a parking lot available. Be sure to give it a try for a meal!

We visited as a family. Located along Higashioji Street, it is in an area with many dining options, but it was not as crowded as the main store. The clientele seemed to be more relaxed, including couples and families. The menu is similar to the main store, with the rich and flavorful sauce still being a highlight. You can enjoy unique and filling okonomiyaki dishes. The atmosphere is more calm compared to the bustling main store, making it a good option for a more relaxed dining experience.

There used to be a local chain restaurant in Kyoto before Tanaka-ri. Since it was a delivery target, I decided to give it a try. The butter-grilled prawns were plump and delicious, while the special grilled noodles were just average in appearance. The grilled cartilage was nothing special. I ended up leaving most of the noodles, but decided to re-cook them with the prawns, cartilage, leftover shishito peppers, and onions. The result was surprisingly delicious. This is the beauty of delivery - sometimes you can turn an average meal into something great. Thank you for the meal.
