Yunge on the first floor of the student hall. In the midst of a campus that has changed drastically from about 30 years ago, this student hall may be the one that still retains some semblance of the past. I remember the days when I practiced in the club room of this student hall before the school festival. Yunge has been there since those days. However, the shop has been renovated and now has a bright and modern feel. It's hard to tell where the shop ends, but there is a counter for ordering on the left side when you enter, and round white tables are lined up on the right side. Further back, there is a cozy space with sofa seating, but is that still part of the shop? There is also an outdoor terrace seating area. This shop, if it were a cafe, has a wide variety of menu items. About 15 types of coffee, tea, soft drinks, about 10 types of floats, and around 25 types of parfaits. I heard that the super deluxe parfait at this shop is really huge and requires reservations, so it must be quite something. I saw something about it in a school paper or something before. So, I searched for "Yunge parfait" on Google Images and it was quite surprising (laughs). I often visit Rikkyo University's campus in my current hometown of Tokyo, Ikebukuro, and spend time at the First Cafeteria, No. 9 Snack Shop, Ivy, Tully's, and other places there, but visiting my alma mater after a long time feels even more tense. Actually, before coming here, I also stopped by the cafeteria in the basement of the Ikebukuro campus, but I couldn't muster the courage to eat there and ended up leaving. I had planned to go for the "tonkotsu ramen" that I used to eat a lot in the past if it was still on the menu, but that menu item was no longer available, and seeing menu items like "Hinai Jidori Ramen" made me feel intimidated by the difference in worlds. I can no longer eat that tonkotsu ramen with its soup like champon. I guess I can handle a coffee. With those thoughts in mind, I came here. "Hot Coffee" (¥189) - Cooperative members get it for ¥180. Non-members have a 5% surcharge. It is served in a paper cup. I sit at the round table in front of the counter and drink my coffee. For me now, it's not about whether it's delicious or not. Spending time here, reminiscing, is what matters. There's a part of me that wants to go back to those days and a part of me that doesn't. A part of me that purely recalls the fun days and a part of me that fears losing everything I've built since graduation. Even if I could use magic, I probably wouldn't go back. Coffee is said to have the ability to awaken the brain. Thank you for the meal. I have to go to the next place. Written on this sacred night.
