I ordered the beef tongue, premium kalbi, premium loin, special harami, kimchi assortment, Moritaya salad at a reasonably priced yakiniku restaurant in town. The salad that is difficult to share, I wish they could do something about it.

I often see Moritaya's business vehicles on the road and was curious about them. Next to the store, they actually sell meat as a butcher shop. It was my first visit, so I ordered the Moritaya course! Salad, loin, ribs, tongue, and skirt steak a la carte. The tongue seemed to be not Japanese beef, which was disappointing. I always wonder why some shops claim to specialize in Japanese beef but occasionally handle foreign tongue, which I don't understand. They could just not offer it... Anyway, the marinated skirt steak was delicious. The loin and ribs were good quality as expected from a butcher shop, but not fully utilized. I also ordered the recommended harami separately, but it was tough and had a strange smell. I wonder if I'll visit again.

Today, I visited a local restaurant called "Yakiniku Moritaya" in Kokura. I ordered the "Moritaya Course" for 2080 yen, which includes 5 slices of "Tansio" with a black pepper and salt seasoning, top-quality beef loin, top-quality beef kalbi, top-quality beef mino, and a choice of mini salad or mini grilled vegetables. I also ordered two draft beers for 1080 yen. The Tansio had a light texture and a refreshing taste when paired with lemon and chopped green onions. It was a great start to the meal. I then mixed spicy miso and sweet miso with the base sauce to create my own sweet and spicy sauce for grilling the beef loin and kalbi. The top-quality beef loin and kalbi were delicious, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a rich flavor. The top-quality beef mino had a chewy texture and a mild taste, which surprised me with its deliciousness. The mini grilled vegetables, including cabbage, bell peppers, carrots, pumpkin, and shiitake mushrooms, were also tasty. Overall, the 2080 yen course was satisfying and worth the price. I prefer quality over quantity when it comes to meat, so this meal suited my taste. I look forward to visiting "Yakiniku Moritaya" again in the future.

This restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from the west exit of Ogura Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, heading left. It has been operating for quite some time in the local area, with a butcher shop located a few shops down. When we visited, there were three of us, one man and two women, with two of us opting for non-alcoholic drinks as we were driving. We ordered food including two servings of tongue salt, one serving of pork belly, two servings of the Moritaya course, one serving of premium wagyu sirloin, and one serving of premium wagyu kalbi. The lower-priced courses offered decent quality meat, but the premium wagyu was truly exceptional. It's true that you get what you pay for...

I visit here once a month. I first visited about 5 years ago. I thought it might be related to Kyoto's Moritaya because they have the same name, but it turns out they are not related. I usually eat randomly, so I ordered the raw liver. The raw liver here is pink and cut into dice shapes. It has an exquisite texture that I have never experienced before. Please try it once. The wine is also reasonably priced. The guy here is very particular about meat and even makes homemade ham. I look forward to visiting here again in the future.
