The restaurant this time is "ONO" in Gokomachi, Kyoto. Known for their oden and kamameshi, this popular Japanese izakaya is located in Gokomachi in Kyoto. The restaurant has both private and semi-private sections, so it's recommended to make a reservation in advance. The location is on Gokomachi Street in Kyoto. The atmosphere inside is casual, like a typical Japanese cuisine restaurant. The main customers are young couples and mature groups. It's 5:00 PM. I arrived for the first seating and was seated at a table. I ordered the sashimi platter, assorted side dishes, tempura of conger eel, omelette, miso-grilled eggplant, and ginger tempura, and sea bream kamameshi. There were two types of appetizers. The foam on the draft beer was very fine. Now, let's dig in. Review: - Sashimi Platter: Fresh sashimi platter. They were all delicious, but the squid was particularly sweet and tasty. The sashimi is excellent, which is a big win for a sake-focused restaurant. - Tempura of Conger Eel: The conger eel was served as tempura, and it was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It makes you want to have rice, but of course, it goes really well with sake. - Oden (omelette, miso-grilled eggplant, pickled ginger): One of the two main attractions at ONO is the oden. The clear broth makes it easy to eat. It pairs well with sake, but it's light enough to go well with any type of alcohol. While it's a sake-focused place, they have a good selection of other drinks, making it a versatile oden that can cater to any drinker. - Sea Bream Kamameshi: The other main attraction is the kamameshi. There are quite a variety of kamameshi dishes on the menu. I was torn between the regular options and the seasonal ones, but I went with the classic sea bream kamameshi. It had the perfect balance of flavors, not too light or too heavy. The carrots and fried vegetables were comforting, and the sea bream was tender and flavorful. The satisfaction level really depends on whether you order this dish or not. Seriously, I can't say anything bad, so you must order the kamameshi. They even make onigiri with the leftovers, so even if you're full, you should definitely order it. It was a wonderful restaurant that added color to my local drinking experience. Thank you for the delicious meal. Epilogue: The seating times are fixed, and the service speed is not particularly fast, so there may be some waiting periods. But the satisfaction level with the food and drinks is very high. Especially the kamameshi is a taste that Japanese people love. I think this is the perfect first stop for a night out in Shijo. If you love kamameshi and sake, definitely check it out. Thank you for the delicious meal.

A cozy Japanese restaurant known for its delicious oden. The oden was tasty, but the standout dish was the fig tempura. The perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness from the figs and prosciutto was irresistible. Topped with delicate bonito flakes, each bite was beautifully crafted and delicious.

It's an izakaya-style restaurant with a traditional Japanese cuisine. I was curious because it always seems busy. As expected, it was fully booked even with a reservation! The atmosphere is average. The highlight seems to be the oden, and the boiled egg was delicious. The sudachi soba for the finale was decent. It's a bit hectic, so it's not the type of place for a calm meal.

First visit. A shop near Nishiki Market where you can enjoy a variety of Japanese dishes centered around oden while also enjoying sake. Every dish is delicious, and it's easy to end up drinking too much at this place. The interior is very clean and has a calming atmosphere. I think it's a place that can be used for meals with friends, dates, or business meetings.

The restaurant is always fully booked on weekends. The dishes I tried this time were grilled conger eel, raw sea cucumber with ponzu sauce, simmered oysters, salted fish roe from sea bream, and oden (daikon radish, bay clams, nama-fu wheat gluten, beef tendon). I enjoyed them all with stylish sake cups of Nabeshima and Tedorigawa. Each dish was a satisfying masterpiece, making this a place I want to visit even after the oden season is over.

Oden, various types of Kamameshi, etc. Open from 17:00 to 24:00 (last order at 23:30), closed on Wednesdays. Reservation recommended. Visited with a reservation and the restaurant was fully booked. It's truly a popular spot. This time I had oysters in the Kamameshi. Oden is definitely a must-have in winter! Personally, the Negi Cheese Kinchaku was the best.

In Kyoto, I went to the popular Oden restaurant "Gokomachi ONO" with my friend Rikako after finishing our training. We tried various Oden items like strawberry with white miso, daikon radish, negi cheese pouch, nama-fu, cabbage roll, tomato, fried mochi with kujo negi, corn and burdock tempura, and the must-try ikura kamameshi. The Oden was delicious, and the kamameshi with ikura was a visual and tasty delight. The staff even mentioned that if we couldn't finish the kamameshi, we could take the leftovers home as onigiri, but we devoured it all. Despite seeing a comment that said four people could finish the meal, we were surprised by our own appetites. We will definitely be returning to this delicious restaurant for more Oden goodness in the future. Thank you, Gokomachi ONO!

It was fully booked for a 7:30 pm reservation on a regular day. I made a reservation online about a week ago (I was rejected over the phone, but managed to get one online, maybe I got lucky with the timing) and was seated at the counter. The restaurant has about 20-30 seats. I could see a pot of oden at the back of the counter, which got me excited. I had a yuzu beer and the following dishes: oden (daikon radish, egg, fried tofu, ganmodoki, cabbage roll, rolled omelette), shime saba, anago tempura, and tai meshi. For my second drink, I had a hot sake from Hakusan. The plates and cups were cute! The oden and sashimi were all delicious. I enjoyed them with yuzu pepper and mustard. I particularly liked the daikon radish and egg. The tai meshi arrived after about 40 minutes. It was a portion of 1.5 cups and very filling. The tai fish chunks in it were delicious. The staff were kind and the atmosphere was pleasant. It's no wonder this place is popular. I highly recommend this restaurant in Kyoto during winter. I ended up spending around 6000 yen, feeling satisfied (the rice dishes were a bit pricey, I wish they had a half-size option).

I have been wanting to visit this restaurant for the past 2 years. I heard it was very popular, so I made a reservation over the phone about 10 days ago. Although I didn't specify, it seems that reservations for 2 people are usually at the counter, while for 3 or 4 people, it's a table. About 80% of the customers were in their 20s to early 30s, which was unexpected given the calm atmosphere of the place. The menu and interior have a stylish and serene mix. Despite the atmosphere and deliciousness, I think the prices are reasonable. We had lemon sour and yuzu beer for drinks, both of which were very tasty. For food, we had Shine Muscat and white miso with raw ham, various types of oden (pictured are egg, raw wheat gluten, and clams), as well as spring cabbage, tomatoes, and octopus. For the finale, we had yellowtail and scallion kamameshi. Especially the kamameshi and oden with octopus were amazing. The octopus in the oden was the best I've ever had in my life. They even packed the leftover kamameshi into onigiri as a souvenir. Such thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated. I definitely want to come back.

Ono Oden in Miyuki-cho takes great care in preparing the broth, using fresh fish delivered directly from the market, and serving premium A-grade Koshihikari rice from Mr. Adachi in Kyotango Kumihama. They offer a selection of 40 carefully chosen Japanese sake from various regions. The restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine without cutting corners, allowing customers to enjoy it in a casual and relaxed atmosphere similar to a pub. Highly recommended dishes include daikon radish, tomatoes, and beef tendon.

I thought about giving up and going back to the hotel if the second place was crowded, but luckily there was a seat available at the counter! Grateful for that. [Order] Draft beer (Sapporo Black Label⭐) Fried conger eel Deep-fried small potatoes Ice Breaker (on the rocks) Beef tendon and boiled egg The conger eel fry, highly recommended by the staff over tempura, was exquisite. I also enjoyed the Ice Breaker after a long time. The restaurant recommended by the discerning people of Kyoto was truly delicious.

This is a restaurant located in the direction of Shijo Kawaramachi. It has a clean and modern Japanese atmosphere, tucked away in a side street just off the main road. I made a reservation in advance and when I arrived on the day, the place was full and they were turning away customers who came later. The clientele seemed to be mostly young couples. I visited with the intention of trying Kyoto-style oden, but the menu had other delicious options as well! I ended up ordering the seasonal dishes, hamo tempura, and water eggplant, and finished with a rice dish along with oden. The water eggplant was surprisingly large and fresh, a seasonal vegetable that was very tasty with the miso sauce. The hamo tempura was crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with lemon and salt for a refreshing taste. The oden dish with fried chicken rice balls soaked in oden broth was delicious, with the fried rice balls adding a unique flavor. I also tried various oden items like daikon, tofu skin, beef tendon, boiled egg, and duck cabbage roll, all of which were delicious. The sake selection was good, with a couple of options by the glass. Overall, if you want to enjoy oden and other Japanese dishes in a stylish atmosphere in Kyoto, this place is recommended.

I visited an oden restaurant on Miyuki-cho Street! I had been wanting to go since seeing it on Instagram, so I made a reservation and finally went (it was full without a reservation). I ordered beef tendon, simmered egg, daikon radish with leeks and cheese, dashimaki tamago, rolled cabbage, strawberry and prosciutto salad, tempura firefly squid, and deep-fried rice ball in dashi broth. The oden was delicious, but a bit pricey for students. Personally, I highly recommend the tempura firefly squid, it was incredibly delicious!

Visited on a weekend night. I had noticed this place before when I visited "BEER PUB ICHI-YA" and remembered it because of its nice atmosphere. My friend wanted to go to "Standing Bar Shaapu Shijo Kiya" but it seemed like it would take a while for a table to free up, so we decided to drink here instead. Luckily, this time we were able to enter smoothly without a reservation since it wasn't busy. [Parking Information] None. Since paid parking lots can be expensive, it might be a good idea to park overnight from around 8 pm to 8 am when the rates are significantly lower. (★1 point ☆0.5 points for evaluation. + - are just my personal feelings, taking into account cost performance, so it's not an absolute evaluation) Total bill was 6,620 yen (for two people). ● Black Label 660 yen ★★★☆ + The thin glass goes well with lager-style beer. The foam was also nice. ● Yuzu Beer 770 yen ★★★☆ + Beer with yuzu added to Black Label. The slight yuzu flavor goes well with meat dishes. ◼️ Appetizer ★★★⬜︎ The crunchy side dish was delicious. ⬜︎ I prefer the spring roll skin with autumn salmon to be crispier. ◼️ Daikon 300 yen ★★★★☆ The broth was amazing and delicious! Yuzu pepper also goes well with it. ◼️ Beef tendon and boiled egg 650 yen ★★★★☆ The broth is delicious! The beef tendon is tender and easily falls apart with chopsticks. The boiled egg is elegantly half-cooked. ◼️ Conger eel tempura 1200 yen ★★★ I was hoping for a firm texture, so I was a little disappointed. But maybe that's just how tempura is. ◼️ Duck roast taitan 1200 yen ★★★☆ This is perfect as a side dish for drinks. It comes out quickly, so it would have been better to order it first. [Overall Impression] Overall, the quality is high, but the oden (Japanese hot pot dish) is fantastic! I haven't been to many authentic oden shops in Tokyo, but among the ones I've been to, this one stands out. In Kyoto, I found other dishes at "Eitaro-ya" or "Tsubame" to be more delicious, but if you want to eat oden, this is the place to go. Next time, I'll just order oden!

I visited the restaurant without a reservation after 6:30 pm during the state of emergency. Luckily, there were two seats available at the counter so I was seated right away, but I recommend making a reservation just to be safe. The place was crowded with students. This restaurant is famous for its kamameshi (kettle rice), and it was mentioned that it would take about 40 minutes, so I ordered it first. There were several options for ingredients, but ikura (salmon roe) seemed to be the most popular based on Instagram, so I ordered the ikura kamameshi. The appetizers included tofu with yuzu miso and a jelly-like dish with cod (forgot the name). The yuzu miso was subtly flavored but delicious. There were also unique options for oden ingredients, so I tried the cheese and negi (green onion) pouch and the kujo negi (Japanese leek) with mochi. All the ingredients were lightly seasoned, but you could add karashi (Japanese mustard) and yuzu kosho (citrus pepper) to your liking. The white miso with strawberries and prosciutto was surprisingly delicious, with the prosciutto and strawberries complementing each other well. The highlight of the meal was the fried taro, with a crispy coating and sweet taro inside. The kamameshi was also delicious, priced at 3800 yen for 2 servings (ikura). It's great that you can take home any leftovers as onigiri (rice balls)! I would love to come back again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

The price is a bit high, so we shared the dishes among four people and carefully selected them. The dashimaki tamago, tomatoes, persimmons, and white salad with Shine Muscat were fresh and delicious. The bacon in the white salad provided a nice salty flavor. The standout dish for me was the deep-fried taro. I was amazed at how the flavor changed when I squeezed lemon over it. The crispy coating had a great taste as well. Even if I can't replicate the restaurant's taste, I want to try making it at home.

Chill out with some oden at Oyuki-cho ONO in Kyoto. This day, we went bar hopping around the Shijo area. We didn't stay too long at each place, just hit and run for drinks. After eating a lot and feeling full, we decided to finish off at "Oyuki-cho ONO." I've liked this place since I visited about 2 years ago, and even during the state of emergency, I went to buy takeout. The bento was so delicious... so we visited again to finish off the night. The appetizers were scallop and spinach with sesame dressing, and turnip and chicken stir-fry. The familiar dishes were comforting with a gentle dashi flavor. We also had the classic daikon, thick fried tofu, and grilled tofu. The soft-boiled egg and beef tendon were a perfect combination of creamy and sweet. We couldn't resist ordering the unique tomato oden. The broth was so flavorful. It was a great way to chill out.

I've always been curious about the restaurant Ono in Gokomachi. They offer seasonal fresh fish, delicious dashi-flavored oden, and Kyoto local sake. The assorted sashimi plate with summer conger eel and wild sea bream was amazing. The conger eel had a firm texture and was incredibly delicious! The oden with daikon radish, white clam, beef tendon egg, and rolled omelette had a light and tasty broth. The deep-fried white shrimp was also excellent! However, the highlight was the ikura rice kamameshi, which takes 45 minutes to prepare but is absolutely delicious! They even offer to make onigiri with the leftovers for takeout, which is a nice touch. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Kyoto gourmet! I finally managed to visit this place as the third stop of the night, even though I was already full. I ordered daikon radish and soft-boiled egg in oden. The soft-boiled egg was perfectly melty! I prefer the daikon radish to be a bit more tender and well-cooked. The complimentary tofu and simmered konjac were also delicious. The sake selection was reasonable and to my liking. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes besides oden.

Oden has a variety of unique options to enjoy. The simmered rice dish has a large portion, but they will make onigiri with the leftovers for you to take home. Both dishes have a gentle and flavorful broth. We had a reservation for the opening time, but they didn't let us in until 10 minutes past opening.

I went to this restaurant recommended by a lady on my way back from viewing autumn leaves. The atmosphere and service were truly Kyoto-esque. The sake and food were of high quality. The rice was not just expensive, but also had a chewy and moist texture that paired well with everything. We ordered dishes like miso eggplant and beef tendon, and were surprised that the total bill for two was around 9000 yen. Our stomachs and hearts were both satisfied. The leftovers were made into a large onigiri for us to take home as a souvenir.
