Today was my second visit to this restaurant. When I sat down, I was recommended the "mixed noodle salad." However, I wanted to take my time and look through the menu before ordering, so I did not go with the recommended dish this time. The unique feature of this restaurant is that they offer a variety of miso flavors from different regions of Japan, such as Hokkaido miso, Shinshu miso, Kyushu miso, Edo-style miso, and Ise miso. The base miso flavors at the Joyo branch are Hokkaido miso (rich), Shinshu miso (slightly rich), and Kyushu miso (sweet). You can also add regional specialty toppings to your ramen. This time, I ordered the Hokkaido miso ramen with extra noodles, along with miso fried rice. The Hokkaido miso has a strong salty flavor, making the soup very rich. I enjoyed soaking the fried potatoes in the soup to savor the miso flavor. I also added shichimi and miso with ground red pepper to the soup to adjust the taste to my liking. The noodles were medium thickness and curly, perfect for soaking up the soup. I skipped the chashu this time and opted for the miso fried rice instead, which had a subtle miso aroma and was delicious, although I wished for a bit more of the unique miso flavor.

Hokkaido miso, Shinshu miso, Kyushu miso, Edo-style miso, Ise miso, etc., are all types of miso from different regions of Japan that you can enjoy at the specialty ramen shop Joyo-cho, where you can choose from a variety of flavors such as spicy, sweet, and rich. The base options at the Joyo-cho shop are Hokkaido miso (rich), Shinshu miso (slightly rich), and Kyushu miso (sweet). You can also add regional specialty toppings to your ramen. Today, I ordered the Hokkaido miso super butter ramen for 890 yen (excluding tax) with an additional grilled chashu for 150 yen (excluding tax). The ramen comes with a generous amount of butter on top. The Hokkaido miso is rich, so the saltiness is quite strong, resulting in a very rich soup. The addition of butter makes it smooth and flavorful. The side of potatoes can be enjoyed as buttered potatoes. The noodles are medium-thick curly noodles that mix well with the soup. The chashu is marinated in miso, but personally, I didn't enjoy it as much. I prefer a juicier texture. It felt more like eating chicken...

Hokkaido miso ramen for 847 yen. Rice (small) for 110 yen. Total: 957 yen. The miso ramen had a strong miso flavor but nothing special. Adding potatoes as a topping for "Hokkaido miso" seemed like a lazy idea. There were also "Shinshu miso ramen" and "Kyushu barley miso ramen" but I didn't feel like comparing the flavors. I wish it came with rice and pickles. It didn't fill me up completely. I didn't feel satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I don't usually eat miso ramen, but it was cold so I decided to stop by this chain restaurant that seems to be common in the Kanto region. The parking lot is shared with a supermarket, so it can be a bit crowded and you may have to wait to park. The store is located in the same building as a flashy dry cleaning shop. I ordered the basic Hokkaido-style miso ramen with extra toppings of chashu and boiled egg. The orange-colored miso soup was within my expectations. When I lifted what I thought was chashu, it turned out to be fried potato. Where is the chashu? It was hidden underneath the round slices of what seemed like roasted onions. The chashu was not very flavorful, tough, and lacked juiciness. The boiled egg, which was supposed to be marinated in miso, didn't really have that flavor. The medium-thick curly noodles paired well with the soup. The shichimi spice on the table was better than the chili miso paste. Maybe miso ramen is just not my preference. I might enjoy Shinshu miso or Kyushu miso more if I try them. Isn't it a bit expensive to pay 1,100 yen including tax for adding extra chashu and boiled egg to the basic ramen? The service was good. Thank you for the meal.

I chose Kyushu Miso because I am moving to Fukuoka in October. Since it was written that Kyushu miso is sweet, I ordered the meat and green onion ramen. The combination of green onions and spicy miso sweetness was delicious. Next time, I will challenge other miso flavors with the meat and green onion ramen.

It had been a while since my last visit. Despite the ongoing pandemic, proper infection control measures were in place. It was quite busy due to the weekend. This time, I ordered the Hokkaido spicy miso ramen at the counter. I really like the chewy curly noodles here. The sweetness is prominent and pairs well with the rich miso flavor. The spicy miso wasn't too spicy, so adjusting it with the spicy condiments on the table would be a good idea. I look forward to coming back again. Thank you for the meal.

When I visited Joyo City for work, I had lunch at this shop. It is a miso ramen specialty store with little competition, called Tadokoro Shoten, and it seems they have been expanding their outlets quite a bit lately. I used to frequent the Tadokoro Shoten near Kintetsu Momoyama Goryo-mae Station, but this was my first time at the Joyo branch. The location is near the city hall, along a prefectural road. The interior of the shop is spacious, with a mix of counter seats and sunken kotatsu-style table seats. The menu remains the same as before, with miso flavors including Hokkaido miso, Shinshu miso, and Kyushu barley miso. I tried the richest Hokkaido miso. The soup is made from rice miso and has a slightly reddish color. According to the shop's website, the red miso with a rich taste, similar to Sado miso, spread to Hokkaido due to active exchanges with places like Sado and Niigata in the past. The saltiness is slightly strong, with a rich and deep miso flavor. It is pleasantly oily and arouses the appetite. The noodles are medium-thick curly noodles made with a high water content. They have a nice elasticity and balance well with the rich miso flavor. The toppings include meat miso, bean sprouts, and a rare deep-fried potato slice. There is only a small amount of meat miso, so it tends to get lost in the soup. We also had a side of half-fried rice. It is made with traditional ingredients like chashu, egg, and green onions, but it is quite delicious. The simple saltiness and fluffy texture make it a high-quality side dish. The phrase displayed in the shop, "Miso is a healthy food, miso is a treasure of the Japanese people," is quite fitting. I think this Hokkaido miso ramen is also a treasure created by the Japanese people. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant opened in a former Chinese restaurant location. You can choose from miso flavors from Hokkaido, Shinshu, and Kyushu. The taste is strong, so it may vary depending on your preference. You can enjoy different things every time with curly noodles, toppings tailored to the location, and various sets. The restaurant also has thorough infection prevention measures. There is a parking lot, but it is shared with a supermarket, so you may have to wait.

Visited the restaurant for lunch with colleagues. I have been here a few times already. I usually order the Hokkaido miso super butter ramen with extra thick slices of chashu on top. The rich and slightly sweet miso soup with a big chunk of butter melting in it is just amazing. Slurping the noodles and biting into the huge chashu gives a satisfying feeling of indulging in a meaty dish. And even though it may seem out of place, the side of potato fits perfectly with this ramen. It was delicious! The menu even mentioned that miso is good for your health, so there's no guilt involved. Thank you for the meal! ☺️

I went to dinner with friends! The restaurant had both table and counter seats. They even provided hair ties, which was a nice touch. The ramen was a hearty and slightly sweet type. The flavor was rich and intense. It was miso ramen, but it had a thick and rich taste. The noodles were thick too. It was great that they had a parking lot. They had about three types of miso. Personally, I thought it was a bit pricey...

I went to a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while before it closed at 8:00 pm with the last order at 7:30 pm. The parking lot is spacious as it is connected to other stores, and it seems easier to enter from the front road by turning left. There are about 10 counter seats and 4 table seats in a sunken kotatsu style for 4 people. This time, I used the counter seats, but there was no place to put my belongings on the counter side. If you have belongings, it might be better to wait for a table. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and clean. There are various types of miso, but I ordered the Hokkaido miso set with small rice, fried chicken, and added two pieces of seared chashu and gyoza. The Hokkaido miso was described as rich, and the soup was indeed rich with a strong aroma. The white rice in the set was very delicious and easy to eat, and I found myself wanting to finish it all. The curly noodles were smooth and chewy, and I felt the portion was quite large. The chashu had a good chewy texture and the taste was delicious. The gyoza was eaten with miso sauce, and it was delicious with just the right amount of garlic flavor. I noticed just before leaving that they offer tasting of various miso flavors. I used LINE Pay for payment for the first time, and the staff was very helpful. I want to try other miso flavors next time. On the way home, I could still savor the taste of miso.

This is the Joyo branch of Misoya restaurant Tanjo Shoten, specializing in miso ramen. I visited on a Saturday in the 11 o'clock hour. When I arrived, the seats were not fully occupied, but soon became almost full. The restaurant is located along the old Route 24, in a shared building with a food supermarket called Sandy and a tool shop, with parking available. The exterior features a unique miso-themed decoration that is easy to recognize. Inside, there are counter seats, tatami and table seats, with a clean and pleasant interior. The staff's service was polite. The menu mainly consists of three types of miso: Shinshu miso (slightly rich), Kyushu barley miso (sweet), and Hokkaido miso (rich). There are also seasonal limited-time items, with prices varying depending on toppings. On this day, the limited-time items were Yamagata miso and "Konayuki" (Fusou miso with cheese powder topping). I decided to try the "Konayuki" ramen priced at 860 yen, with an additional topping of 3 pieces of seared chashu for 360 yen. The ramen arrived after a short wait. The miso soup, which was slightly murky, had cheese powder sprinkled on top like powdered snow. The toppings included 3 pieces of seared chashu, fried potatoes, meat miso, onions, scallions, fried onions, bean sprouts, and more. First, I tasted the Fusou miso soup without cheese, which was quite rich but had a refreshing aftertaste, with a deep miso flavor. Mixing in the cheese changed the aroma and created a very smooth and mild taste. The noodles were medium-thick curly noodles with a satisfying chewy texture. The combination of rich miso, cheese, and meat miso provided a well-balanced umami flavor. The chashu was made of thick slices of pork belly, flavorful with a juicy sear. The potato fries, when combined with cheese, added a nice Western touch. Tanjo Shoten's "Konayuki" ramen had a unique appearance but a well-balanced taste with a solid base of Fusou miso soup and cheese powder, providing a satisfying experience. Tanjo Shoten offers many limited-time items, making it enjoyable to revisit, so I would like to come back again if given the chance.

This is the Joyo branch of Misoya Tanasho, a miso ramen specialty store. I visited during lunchtime on a Saturday, and the place was about half full, possibly due to the mood of self-restraint from the infection. The store is located in a joint facility with a food supermarket called Sandy along the old Route 24. They have a parking lot, but it tends to be close to full. The interior is clean and offers counter seats, tatami rooms, and table seats. For COVID-19 measures, there were dividers between each counter seat. The staff were polite and attentive. The menu features three main types of miso ramen: Shinshu miso (slightly rich), Kyushu barley miso (sweet), and Hokkaido miso (rich). There are also seasonal limited-time items. On this day, I ordered the limited-time dish, Sesame Miso Cold Noodles for 880 yen, and the Shinshu Miso Seared Pork Belly and Green Onion for 580 yen. The pork belly and green onion dish was served first, followed by the cold noodles. The cold noodles were presented in a calm Japanese-style bowl with toppings such as grilled pork, boiled egg, cucumber, tomato, bean sprouts, and chopped seaweed. The sauce was a sesame miso dressing. The sauce had a strong sesame flavor and the rich miso taste typical of a miso ramen specialty store. It had a distinctive balance of acidity and miso sweetness, rich yet refreshing in the aftertaste, making it very easy to eat. The noodles were medium-thick curly noodles with a strong and pleasant texture. They paired well with the rich umami sauce and were suitable for cold noodles. The grilled pork used as a topping was different from the standard seared pork belly of this store, being light and easy to eat, harmonizing well with the overall dish. The tomato and cucumber added a refreshing touch. The Seared Pork Belly and Green Onion dish came with a generous serving of spicy green onions and plenty of bean sprouts, topped with three slices of seared pork belly. The thick slices of pork belly were seasoned with the rich flavor of Shinshu miso, about 1 centimeter thick. It was juicy with a good amount of fat from the pork belly, and the combination of its rich flavor and spicy green onions was excellent, making it a satisfying dish to enjoy with drinks. I have been a repeat customer of Misoya Tanasho many times, and with their seasonal limited-time items, I can enjoy something new each visit. I hope they continue to provide high-quality miso ramen in the future.

This is the Joyo branch of a miso ramen specialty store called "Tadokoro Shoten". I visited during Sunday lunchtime and there were fewer customers, possibly due to the influence of the coronavirus. The seating at the counter was spaced out for social distancing. The restaurant is located along the old Route 24, sharing a facility with the supermarket "Sandy" and has a parking lot. The exterior of the shop is easily recognizable with a miso barrel object. Inside, there are counter seats, tatami seating, and tables towards the back. The interior is clean and the staff's service was polite. The menu features three main types of miso: Shinshu miso (slightly salty), Kyushu barley miso (sweet), and Hokkaido miso (salty). There are also seasonal limited-time items. On this day, the limited-time items were Satsuma barley miso ramen, chilled tantan noodles, and sesame miso chilled noodles. I ordered the Satsuma barley miso ramen for 900 yen with an additional topping of miso-marinated seared chashu for 250 yen. The ramen arrived with a cloudy miso soup, seared chashu, boiled egg, meat miso, bean sprouts, thick menma, fried green onions, red pickled ginger, and bonito flakes as toppings. The soup had a unique sweet taste with a noticeable acidity at first, which I found slightly unusual. However, as the bonito flakes, red pickled ginger, fried green onions, and meat miso mixed together, it created a surprisingly mellow and well-balanced flavor. The miso richness was prominent, offering a balanced taste. The noodles were thick, curly, and chewy, with a strong texture that paired well with the rich soup and toppings. The seared chashu had a good amount of miso flavor and was easy to eat despite its thickness. The extra-thick menma added another unique touch to the dish. Overall, the Satsuma barley miso ramen was initially a bit peculiar, but it turned out to be a delicious and well-crafted bowl of miso soup that I would like to revisit when I have the chance.

This is the Joyo branch of the specialty miso ramen shop "Tadokoro Shoten". I occasionally visit this place as a repeat customer. On this day, I visited during Sunday lunchtime. There were no customers waiting, so I was able to enter smoothly. The shop is located a little north of Joyo City Hall along the old Route 24. The exterior of the shop is mainly black, with a miso barrel sculpture making it easy to spot. It is a shared facility with the "Sandy" supermarket, which also has a parking lot. Inside the shop, there are counter seats, tatami mat seating, and table seats towards the back. The clean interior is small but can accommodate a decent number of people. The staff's service is polite. The menu mainly consists of three types of miso: Shinshu miso (slightly strong), Kyushu barley miso (sweet), and Hokkaido miso (strong). There are also limited-time items, with prices varying depending on the toppings. On this day, the limited-time item was Niigata miso. I ordered the Niigata miso seared chashu ramen for 1160 yen. The ramen arrived after a short wait. It had a cloudy miso soup, topped with 3 pieces of seared chashu, Tochio deep-fried tofu, meat miso, spicy miso, fried onions, bean sprouts, and more. The soup had a balanced spiciness, acidity, and a rich base of animal flavors. The Niigata miso, which includes salmon flakes and sake lees, added depth to the soup. It was rich and thick, but had a refreshing aftertaste, allowing you to enjoy the flavor of miso. The noodles were medium-thick curly noodles made with plenty of water. They had a resilient texture and paired well with the rich soup and toppings, making them enjoyable to eat. The seared chashu had a strong miso flavor and a nicely seared surface. The fat had been removed, making it easy to eat, and the thick slices added great volume. The aroma of the searing and the crispy texture of the surface were impressive. The Tochio deep-fried tofu was thick and about the size of thick fried tofu. It had a light flavor that complemented the rich miso soup, with a crispy and fluffy texture when bitten into. It was a great topping choice that I thought went well with the ramen. Overall, I personally thought the Niigata miso I had this time had a great balance between the soup and toppings, and I enjoyed it. This shop has consistently good miso ramen, so I would like to visit again in the future.

Today, I visited the Tanjo Shoten in Joyo. I had been wanting to try their miso ramen for a while, and finally had the chance to visit. I ordered the half fried rice set and gyoza. The miso ramen tasted like it was made with Shinshu miso and had lots of vegetables. The noodles were medium thickness curly noodles, which paired well with the miso broth. I would like to visit again and try the other three types of ramen they offer. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this place that opened around 13:50 on June 19th (Wednesday). I had only been here once before, but I was really curious so I came back. What's up? Weren't you okay with miso ramen and gyoza? Well, my coworker told me that the gyoza here has a strong herbal scent, so I had to come and check it out. That sounds intriguing, right? And you came here the very next day? Let's start with the gyoza! Mmm, let me try it. How is it? Is it amazing? Um, it's delicious! The skin is chewy and the filling is juicy and tasty! Even if someone doesn't like gyoza, I can't really convince them, right? Well... Anyway, let's try dipping it in the miso sauce. Okay! Let's dip the third one in the miso sauce. Mmm, I put a lot on, right? How is it? Wow! It has a sweet and spicy aroma, it's amazing! So, this was the culprit. It's clear now! Let's report back to the coworker. But the miso ramen also has a rich flavor and is delicious! This thick curly noodle is doing a great job! Do you like it? Today was a good discovery, wasn't it? I'm also curious about the Hokkaido miso now. And the meat and leek dish that the other customer ordered also looks interesting, right? Will I come back here again? ... Anyway, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

The menu offers three types of miso ramen: Shinshu miso (slightly strong), Kyushu barley miso (sweet), and Hokkaido miso (strong), as well as limited-time items. I ordered the limited-time item of Ise miso ramen (slightly strong) with extra topping of 3 pieces of roasted chashu for an additional 360 yen. The ramen arrived with a reddish soup, topped with roasted chashu, meat miso, fried onions, bean sprouts, and seaweed. The miso flavor was quite strong with a noticeable acidity. It had a unique taste, and while the seaweed aroma was advertised, it was subtle compared to the richness of the miso. As I continued eating, the soup became more flavorful and complex, especially when combined with the meat miso and fried onions. The noodles were medium-thick with a good chewiness. The roasted chashu had a crispy exterior and juicy inside, enhancing the rich miso flavor. Overall, I found the quality of the dishes at this shop to be high, with each item offering a different experience. I look forward to revisiting in the future.

Visited in February 2019 with a Foodlog rating of 3.14 (based on 30 reviews). Ordered the Half Fried Rice Set for 950 yen (Hokkaido Miso flavor). Other ramen flavors are also available for the set. Today, I decided to have lunch in Joyo City, and due to the chilly weather, I went to "Tadokoro Shoten Joyo Store," a miso ramen specialty shop. It's just a few minutes' walk from Joyo Station, and even though it was lunchtime, it was relatively empty. There was a sign outside advertising a limited-time "Kuradashi Mugi Miso Ramen." The restaurant has around 40 seats, a mix of counter and table seating. The menu offers three types of ramen: Shinshu Miso (slightly strong flavor), Kyushu Mugi Miso (sweet flavor), and Hokkaido Miso (strong flavor). The set menu is quite varied, but even the cheapest option is over 1000 yen, giving off a slightly expensive impression. I associate miso ramen with Hokkaido, so I decided to go with the Hokkaido Miso ramen. The fried rice also looked delicious, so I couldn't resist ordering the "Half Fried Rice Set." First to arrive was the Hokkaido Miso ramen. Wait, where's the chashu? There's none! It's supposed to have chashu, but there wasn't a single slice. According to the menu, each chashu slice costs 120 yen. The toppings for the Hokkaido Miso were meat miso, fried onions, bean sprouts, and fried potatoes. The fried potatoes seemed to be a specific topping for the Hokkaido Miso, while I assume Shinshu Miso would have mountain vegetables and Kyushu Mugi Miso would have satsuma-age. The noodles were medium-thick curly noodles with a nice chewy texture that complemented the miso broth well. The fried rice was a good balance of fluffy and moist, with a nice seasoning that made it quite tasty. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

This is the Joyo branch of Misora Ramen specialty store Tanjo Shoten. I visited during lunchtime on a Sunday. The shop is often crowded, but on this day, there were no waiting customers and I was able to enter easily. The shop is located within the premises of Sandy Joyo store, previously occupied by Nishikai. The exterior is clearly marked as a miso ramen specialty store. There is also a parking lot available. Inside, there are counter seats near the entrance, tatami seating, and tables towards the back. The interior is clean and the staff are polite. The ramen menu includes Shinshu Miso (slightly rich), Kyushu Mugi Miso (sweet), and Hokkaido Miso (rich), each with varying prices based on toppings. There are also set menu options combining ramen with rice dishes. On this day, I ordered the Kyushu Mugi Miso with seared chashu noodles for 1050 yen. The ramen arrived with a slightly yellowish cloudy soup with some oil floating on top. Toppings included seared chashu, fish paste, bean sprouts, meat miso, fried onion, and more. The soup had a rich and mild flavor with the sweetness of miso, enhanced by the meat miso and fried onion. The seared chashu added aroma and a balanced taste. The noodles were medium thickness with a firm texture. The thick-cut seared chashu was juicy and flavorful, providing a satisfying eating experience. The fish paste and vegetables complemented the miso soup well. Overall, the Kyushu Mugi Miso ramen I had was well-balanced and delicious. This shop with a variety of menu options is a great place to satisfy your miso ramen cravings.
