I went to the restaurant after seeing a review by Mairebi-sama. Taking the elevator to the 8th floor and walking further back, I found the entrance to the dining hall with a ticket machine. It seems like the prices have gone up a bit. I ordered the feast set for 680 yen. Inside the restaurant, I picked up a tray and chopsticks. The set meal comes with two side dishes, and for curry, you choose one. Then you receive the main dish. You also pick up a big or small rice bowl and a bowl with dried wheat gluten, and then you serve yourself rice and miso soup (no refills allowed, so you can serve as much as you want). I sat by the window, but couldn't see much outside. The meal consisted mainly of fried food. The big rice bowl was quite large, allowing you to eat a lot of rice. The rice was delicious and well-cooked. The fried dishes included sweet and sour fried chicken, octopus meatball, cream croquette with cheese, and fish fry. The cheese inside the croquette was gooey and tasty. I was satisfied with the meal. Taste is important, but quantity is also important to me. I enjoyed the meal, but I don't understand why I came here with an empty stomach. Overall, it was a delicious lunch at the cafeteria. Thank you for the meal!

There is a cafeteria on the 8th floor of the city hall. It is not only used by the staff, but also by citizens. The menu is limited and includes daily special set meals (490 yen), deluxe set meals (680 yen), udon noodles (350 yen), and curry (490 yen). I chose the daily special set meal, which allows you to choose a main dish from 6 options and two side dishes from several choices. You serve yourself rice and miso soup. Due to COVID-19 precautions, refills for rice and miso soup are not allowed. The taste was average, nothing remarkable for the price of 490 yen. The view of Uji city from the window was very nice, and on a clear day, you could even see Mt. Hiei.

I decided to use the 8F cafeteria for some business at the Uji City Hall. When I arrived a little before 12 o'clock, I found that it had been replaced by 2nd Kitchen. I checked inside the cafeteria first. They only accept meal tickets, no cash payments. The menu includes a daily special set meal for 490 yen, a special set meal for 680 yen, udon for 350 yen, and curry for 490 yen, as of January 2023 (tax included). The daily special set meal includes a choice of main dish from 6 options, 2 side dishes, miso soup, and rice. You can choose between a medium and small rice bowl, which you can fill from the rice container. The medium size allows for a generous portion. The special set meal includes a special main dish, along with the same sides as the daily special. I opted for the daily special set meal with the main dish being sauce chicken cutlet this time. The meal is pretty standard, with the rice and miso soup served warm but the rest is cold. It's a decent meal, better quality than hospital food for sure. The tea served is not Uji tea. I haven't tried the other shops at 2nd Kitchen, so I can't compare. Overall, it's good value for a meal at the price of one coin. I would like to try the udon next time.

Originally a company cafeteria, this place is now open to the public and is really cheap! It's hard to find a lunch for 490 yen these days. You can choose from 7 different daily set meals, including curry and udon. Unlike typical cafeterias, there are plenty of vegetables, making it a healthy option. The taste is great as well, as the place is operated by 2ndKitchen, which originally was a deli. I would love to visit again when I'm in the area.
