A new spot called "TAREL" opened in October 2019 in the southeast area of the World Heritage site "Nijo Castle" in Kyoto, which has been gaining attention. It is a facility called "Kyou Sou Jichiku CONCON" where row houses and containers line up, and where creators' offices and shops gather. A board displayed a little further down the alley shows prices like "COFFEE 500 WINE 900 ~ Beer 500," and when you enter the shop, you will find a casual space utilizing containers. The owner, a man, handles everything alone, and the "Drip Coffee (500 yen)" that was ordered cash-on is made with lightly roasted beans from Honduras, with a moderate acidity and fruity taste that conveys the goodness of roasting and extraction. Next, the Alsace wine "Tutti Frutti Stefan (900 yen)" was explained to have a rich attack and flavor, with a lingering finish that leaves you feeling satisfied. The male owner used to be a sommelier with experience in the world of wine, and he is now honing his skills in the world of coffee at this new spot within "Kyou Sou Jichiku CONCON." It is said to be the only food and beverage establishment within the facility. The menu includes Drip Coffee for 500 yen, Espresso for 400 yen, Glass Wine starting from 900 yen, Bottle Wine starting from 5500 yen, Heartland small bottle for 500 yen, Cafe Latte for 550 yen, as well as limited food options like bread, scones, and cheese. For now, drinks seem to be the main focus. The interior of the shop is a compact space centered around the counter. Despite the possibility of a wait during busy times due to the one-man operation, it is a casual, authentic place full of the charm of natural wine and specialty coffee. It is conveniently located near Nijo Castle Mae Station, making it easy to stop by when visiting Nijo Castle. Takeout is also available in the shop, and the business hours are around 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This time, no rating is given, so please refer to the photos and text. I hope that many people will visit and enjoy it.
