Food Stall Ramen 850 yen, Small Rice 100 yen. I remember the prices well. It was a holiday on a Monday around 12:30 pm. The place was almost full, but I was able to easily find a seat at the counter. I bought a meal ticket and placed it on the counter. They told me to serve the rice myself. I waited for the ramen to be ready. It arrived in about 5 minutes. I went to the self-service area to scoop rice, added pickled radish and mustard greens, and then started eating. The rich pork bone soup was delicious! I really like that flavor. The thin noodles, large slices of char siu, wood ear mushrooms, and green onions were all well put together in this tasty ramen. I added sesame seeds and later some garlic for a change in flavor. The mustard greens I tried for the first time were exceptionally delicious! I wanted to get a refill, but it seemed like they didn't allow extra rice, so I gave up. I'll eat more next time! I was very happy with the cold water and the super cold hand towel! Thank you for the meal.

Stall Ramen for 830 yen with a side of fried chicken for 350 yen. It was a weekday after 12 o'clock and the counter was full, but there were empty tables available. Today, I went to Fukakusa for work with a junior colleague. I ordered the fried chicken set, while my colleague ordered just the ramen. The food arrived in about 2 minutes. Just like last time, the ramen had very thin noodles and a rich pork bone soup - delicious! The rice was self-service and the fried chicken came in small pieces, just the right amount. Thank you for the meal!

Located in the fiercely competitive ramen district of Fushimi, Chukasoba Nishiki Fushimi branch has a red sign that says "Chinese soba," so I assumed it was Kyoto-style shoyu ramen and decided to give it a try. To my surprise, it turned out to be a rich tonkotsu ramen. Red usually signifies Chinese soba, while yellow is more commonly associated with tonkotsu ramen. The restaurant has a stylish and open interior, although there are some concerns such as young children running around and occupying table seats. Just be cautious if you have back problems as the chairs are extremely hard. Chukasoba Nishiki Fushimi branch is located at 6-62 Fukakusa Nishiuracho, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture.

The name of the restaurant might make you think it's a Chinese ramen shop in Oda Nagoya, but it's actually located in Fukakusa, Fushimi-ku. It's situated along the road parallel to the Meishin Expressway on the north side. It's west from the Keihan Fushimimori Station. The nearest bus stop is in front of the Youth Science Center. On Mondays, they only open for lunch, so I arrived before 11 am. It was empty due to the rainy weather. I ordered the special ramen with extra noodles, cooked firm, which is said to be Hakata tonkotsu style. As of February 2023 (tax included), the special ramen costs 980 yen, and extra noodles (1.5 servings) cost 150 yen. I added red pickled ginger and ground sesame and tasted it. It has a refreshing tonkotsu flavor, and being advertised as Hakata tonkotsu, it is indeed powerful. The broth is clear of fat but richer than Nagahama's. It has some thickness but is not overly thick or sticky. It's somewhere between the richness of Tenka and the heartiness of Kossari. The soup doesn't have any gamey smell, so you can enjoy it without worries. The ramen noodles are extremely thin straight noodles from Nagahama, apparently imported from Fukuoka. The wheat aroma comes through directly. They may look thick in the photos, but they are actually much thinner. I ordered extra noodles cooked firm, but they stretch as you eat. It might be better to order regular size and get a noodle refill. The price is the same. The special ramen comes with 3 sheets of roasted seaweed, 2 slices of rare roasted pork, wood ear mushrooms, green onions, and half a soft-boiled seasoned egg. You can add condiments to your liking. The rare roasted pork is tender and delicious. Also, they have pickled mustard greens, so you might want to try their rice. I enjoyed the Hakata tonkotsu ramen.

Today's set meal: Fried chicken set meal (stall ramen + 2 pieces of fried chicken + medium rice) for 1,000 yen! It was a weekday (December 30th) at 12:50 pm, and I was the second customer so I was seated quickly. However, right after I entered, the restaurant quickly became full and there was a line outside! The owner was working alone, and Showa era songs were playing. Despite being a bit busy, the owner worked efficiently and my meal arrived in about 10 minutes. The pork bone ramen looked delicious with one slice of rare chashu, wood ear mushrooms, and green onions on top. The rich pork bone soup had a slightly sweet flavor and was incredibly delicious - just the way I like it! I wish I had come here sooner! The fried chicken was piping hot and juicy, seasoned perfectly with garlic. The thin noodles, wood ear mushrooms, and green onions had a great texture. Before I knew it, I had finished all the soup - it was so rich and delicious! Today's set meal likely changes daily, and today's options were fried chicken or fried rice. I look forward to trying other dishes on different days. I was surprised to find such a rich pork bone ramen here! I will definitely be back! Thank you for the meal!

I visited a new restaurant for the first time and was unsure of what to order from the menu. I decided to go with the fried chicken set because I wanted to try a variety of dishes. The thinly sliced char siu was incredibly tender and delicious, different from the char siu I've had at traditional ramen shops. The ramen had a tonkotsu broth that was just to my liking, with a fragrant aroma. Opting for firm noodles was the right choice. I could easily finish two bowls of this ramen! For tonkotsu ramen, red pickled ginger is a must-have, and I was happy to see it available on the table. The fried chicken had a flavorful and hearty coating, but the meat itself was lightly seasoned, making it easy to eat. Even though it wasn't shown in the photos, the set also came with a generous serving of rice. I mixed the leftover rice and soup with some sesame seeds on the table to create a delicious porridge-like dish at the end. I sat at the counter, which turned out to be quite high, making it a bit tricky to find the right sitting position. Overall, it was a very tasty ramen shop experience. Thank you for the meal!

I wanted to go to a special ramen shop for my last night, but it was closed. I peeked into a famous udon shop and found a new restaurant next to it, so I decided to stop by. They mainly serve pork bone ramen, along with various delicious Chinese dishes displayed on the ticket machine. The ramen is served in a shallow bowl with 2 slices of chashu, seasoned egg, and seaweed on top, making it special. The noodles are cooked al dente, and the soup is a mild pork bone broth that is quite tasty. The chashu slices are thinly cut, so they don't have a strong meaty flavor. The large-cut green onions are quite distinctive. The soup may feel a bit lacking, so if you order extra noodles, it might not be enough.

The other day, as announced, I came to eat baked ramen. However, I couldn't find the ticket machine. When I asked the staff, they said, "We're not doing it yet." Um, it was on the menu last time I came, right? I realized that there were no set meals, no gyoza, and no fried rice. It seems that they have significantly reduced the menu due to operational reasons. It's quite inconvenient for customers like me who come with a purpose, to reduce the menu first and then increase it again. I can't help but feel the lack of foresight. It was too much trouble to go to another restaurant, so I ordered ramen from the food stall. I won't repeat my thoughts on the ramen. However, the curry powder was a nice touch as a flavor enhancer. When I checked social media later, I saw that they had announced it, but it seems that they have had temporary closures twice in the first month of opening and have even temporarily suspended night operations, which raises various concerns.

I have visited this place many times, but this is my first post about the branch of Nishiki, a Chinese ramen restaurant located in Ichijoji Temple. The master here is from the Uzaki Ryudo school, and despite his tough appearance, he is actually very kind. The location is just two doors down from Ganko Men.

Char siu ramen
[Second Visit]
Karaage set meal with extra meat, extra noodle, and a good amount of noodles. There is a lot of char siu and the karaage is made with chicken breast, giving it a more refined taste compared to the karaage at Osho. The soup is thick and delicious.
[Third Visit]
Karaage set meal with char siu ramen + set (additional 350 yen). A bit on the expensive side. You have to serve the rice yourself, which is a bit of a unique experience.

Food Stall Ramen: 750 yen
This shop opened last month and boldly entered the competitive area of Kyoto Fukakusa. The ramen comes with a large rare chashu, wood ear mushrooms, and chopped green onions. The noodles are very thin straight noodles. It's what you would call "Kyushu Tonkotsu Ramen." The soup is a milky tonkotsu broth, but it's not too heavy on the fat or salt, with a mild and gentle flavor. The large rare chashu is easy to eat as it's not tough. I added pickled ginger halfway through and finished it in no time. The portion and flavor are relatively light, making it a very easy-to-eat bowl. If you prefer strong flavors or richness, you might find it lacking. They only serve lunch, but personally, I think it would be amazing to have it for dinner. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant around 11 o'clock on Friday, August 5, 2022. I purchased a meal ticket at the ticket machine and sat at an available counter seat. I ordered a special ramen, specifying that I wanted it firm, and waited for it to be served. The restaurant was spacious and I had a good impression. When the ramen arrived, I tasted the richly flavored pork bone soup, which was delicious. I love pork bone ramen, so this was a hit for me. The texture of the noodles was good and I enjoyed the flavor. The chashu (sliced pork) was also tasty. There are many ramen shops in this area, so it seems to be a competitive area.

Today, I visited a newly opened pork bone ramen restaurant in the fiercely competitive area of Kyoto Ramen, Fushimi area. The bright and casual atmosphere of the restaurant stands out with its brand new bright red tent roof. The interior of the restaurant is cheerful, with the kitchen on the right side, counter seats for 7 people along the side, and two quirky and gorgeous table seats on the left side. The menu focuses on "Yatai Ramen" with a few toppings and sides. I ordered the "Yatai Ramen" at the ticket machine by the entrance and received my order shortly after. The slightly small bowl of ramen had a cloudy soup with a clean and slightly thick taste, without any strong flavors or smells. The thin straight noodles, which seemed to be from a longstanding noodle factory in Hakata called "Aoki Shokusan", were served firm with a slightly rough texture that didn't mix much with the soup. The toppings included a large tender rare chashu, crunchy wood ear mushrooms, and fresh green onions. I added some ramen sauce, sesame seeds, and pickled ginger from the table to enhance the flavor. I left a bit of soup unfinished due to the heat and lack of appetite. It will be interesting to see how this restaurant fares in the competitive and unique ramen scene. The service was good. Thank you for the meal. Accessibility: wheelchair access is limited, no parking available.

The restaurant opened in July and was full around 12:30 on a weekday. There were 5 staff members, so the turnover was good and we were seated quickly. I ordered the special ramen without knowing anything beforehand, so I didn't expect it to be Kyushu-style ramen. On the table, there were condiments like pickled ginger, ramen sauce, sesame seeds, and curry powder, reminiscent of Miyoshi in Kiyamachi. The rare chashu was delicious on its own, but didn't quite match the Kyushu tonkotsu broth. However, the ramen itself had a mild flavor, so even those who don't like this type of tonkotsu ramen should be fine. The service was polite. I will definitely come back. The closest parking garage is the coin parking in front of Udon Okawa.

The shop opened on July 7th. The main store is located in Ichijoji. I was intrigued by the limited grilled ramen, but I chose the fried rice set instead. It arrived quickly. The set included a large, thinly sliced rare char siu and wood ear mushrooms. The noodles were thin and slightly firm, with a hint of floury texture. The soup was relatively mild and clean, with a good amount of gelatin giving it a thick and smooth texture. The rare char siu was well-prepared. The fried rice was cooked on an iron plate, and the staff poured egg mixture over it. You quickly mix it up before eating. The fried rice had a generous amount of green onions, and bits of pickled mustard greens and char siu mixed in. The seasoning of the fried rice had a unique taste that I wasn't a fan of at first. However, as I continued to eat, the flavors of the char siu, mustard greens, and the egg I mixed in gradually blended together, creating a more complex and satisfying taste. In the end, I was satisfied. I look forward to trying the limited grilled ramen before it's gone.

This shop, which opened on July 7th, is the second branch with the main store located in Ichijoji. When I arrived at the shop, it was already full inside, so I had to wait about 10 minutes outside before being seated at the counter. I ordered the "Special Ramen" (900 yen), which came with a large slice of chashu pork, wood ear mushrooms, seaweed, chopped green onions, and a seasoned egg in a big bowl. The cloudy pork bone soup had a light and mild flavor with a hint of pork aroma and oiliness. Adding a bit of the "ramen sauce" provided at the counter enhanced the flavors. The noodles were firm and thin, cooked al dente. The rare chashu pork was tender and flavorful, while the seasoned egg was softly boiled with a light seasoning. The thickly sliced wood ear mushrooms provided a crunchy texture. Although they currently only serve lunch, this pork bone ramen would also be enjoyable after drinking. Adjusting the flavor with the ramen sauce was a nice touch.

Special ramen for 900 yen. I went to Gangumen after work, but it was closed for the day. I remembered hearing from the owner of Banraiya nearby that they were opening a new ramen shop, so I decided to go there instead. Today, I tried their recommended special ramen. Although I was tempted by the yakisoba and teppanyaki fried rice, I decided to go with their top recommendation. The pork bone broth was light and not too strong, with rare chashu, seaweed, wood ear mushrooms, a seasoned egg, and green onions. The broth was flavorful yet light, making it easy to eat. The noodles were thin and firm. The menu didn't specify the firmness of the noodles, so I should have asked. Since the soup was easy to drink, I didn't get an extra serving of noodles this time. The portion was just right and easy to eat, so I might go for an extra serving next time. There weren't many pork bone ramen options around here, so this was just what I was looking for.

The new restaurant opened next to the stubborn noodle shop, which is considered the best in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto. It is delicious, but lacks a certain punch. It's like Kimura before the Mashiwaru fight in Hajime no Ippo - can't find any bad points, but also can't find any good points. It seems to be missing impact... Maybe there is a secret strategy in this fiercely competitive ramen district of Fushimi Ward.

This is a Hakata-style ramen with a tonkotsu (pork bone) broth base. It's relatively light in flavor. Adding spicy miso or ginger can change the taste and is recommended.

I tried to visit Udon Taiga around 11:30 am, but there was already a long line. It might be because it's Saturday. I decided to give up and thought about going to Ganko Men, but there was also a long line there. I noticed a shop next door with no customers. Since it was a ramen shop, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Yatai Ramen (750 yen). The soup was rich, similar to Ichijoji style or Kyoto's chicken-pork bone broth. However, it wasn't as heavy as Ganko Men, which I preferred. I was happy to find that the noodles were thin and quite firm. They were just a step before al dente, which I personally liked. The chashu and wood ear mushrooms were also good. This was a hit for me. Personally, I might like this place more than Ganko Men.
