There was a sign at the entrance of the store saying "Service Day - Chicken Cutlet Set from 830 yen to 750 yen", so I decided to enter and order. There were other monthly special items that were also reasonably priced. After a while, the set meal arrived. The cutlet had a demi-like sauce on top, which paired well with it. The chicken cutlet with cheese inside was very delicious. The demi-like sauce was a great match. The rice and udon noodles were also available, and I left feeling satisfied!

Eiden is a udon restaurant in front of Motonaka Station. The menu starts from one coin for udon and all set meals are under 1,000 yen, which is very reasonable. You can choose between 1, 1.5, or 2 servings of udon, making it a great service for those who want to fill their stomachs. The popular dishes are curry udon and in winter, the hot pot udon is also delicious.

Mini Tendon Set (Chicken Nanban Udon) with 2 udon noodles for 800 yen. It's great that you can choose 1, 1.5, or 2 noodles for the same price. The udon has a rich and delicious broth. The mini tendon comes with a large shrimp tempura soaked in plenty of sauce, which is very tasty.

Ordered the Chicken Katsu set (Chicken Katsu, Kake Udon, Rice) for 800 yen. When ordering, the staff asked if I wanted both Udon servings, but I wasn't sure so I just went with the normal option. Most of the customers seemed to be regulars, as they quickly specified 1.5 or 2 servings of Udon. It's rare for a set meal restaurant to offer the option to increase the amount of Udon for the same price. The color of the Chicken Katsu breading was nice, indicating fresh oil. The cost performance is good, and the restaurant had a decent amount of customers, so I recommend it.

One summer afternoon, I parked my car at a coin parking lot and decided to try out this restaurant that I had been curious about from Mr. Mairevi's review. Upon entering the restaurant and being seated at a table, I was delighted to see the menu... There were also set menus displayed on the wall, which made it hard to choose! I ordered the Tamagodon (egg rice bowl) and Zaru Udon (chilled udon noodles) for 780 yen, while my wife ordered the Tori Nanba Udon and Mini Tendon (tempura rice bowl) for 750 yen. What's great is that you can choose between 1, 1.5, or 2 portions of udon for the same price! We opted for 1 portion, and both the udon and rice bowl had a delicious flavor that made us feel warm and happy. For this price, getting such a satisfying meal makes me want to become a regular if it's in the neighborhood. I definitely want to come back again!

Today, I had lunch here. Of course, I avoided the lunch rush and visited when it was quiet. I was surprised when I looked at the menu - the amount of udon (excluding hot pot) is the same price for 1 serving, 1.5 servings, and 2 servings! Such generosity! I ordered the curry udon with 1.5 servings. It came in a pretty substantial bowl. It looks delicious and has a lot of broth. It's delicious and has a nice level of spiciness. The noodles are on the softer side, but not bad at all. It was so delicious that I ended up finishing 1.5 servings. Maybe I could have even handled 2 servings! Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant is plain but the food is top-notch and cheap. The portion size of the udon is the same whether you order one full serving, a half serving, or two servings, making it a warm place for the common people. I ordered the mountain vegetable udon, and the noodles were firm and delicious, satisfying even a soba lover like myself. The Kyoto-style broth was also delicious, and I savored every last drop.

Long time no see Menten. The udon is still as good as ever. Today I had the Other Person Bowl. The cost performance is the best.

There is a place called Merci in Waseda that Tamori also visited during his student days. Someone once said during their student days at Waseda University that "Merci is like a bath." There are indeed dining establishments that are incorporated into daily life as a simple source of comfort, much like a bath. During my student days in Kyoto, "Mentei" was like a bath for me. The atmosphere inside the restaurant? How's the taste? What about the prices? Just like a bath, there is no taste, but it just feels good. I'd like to end it there, but... The udon noodles are soft, the broth has a gentle flavor, and it can be described as homey. This type of udon restaurant is not common. Some may say they can make it at home. I can't make it, so I want to come here to eat.

There are so many varieties! The udon noodles are just the right softness and have a comforting flavor. The broth is not too spicy or too light, it's just right.

In 2017, it is the year of the Rooster. Near the Moto-Tanaka Station of Eizan Electric Railway, there is Tanaka Shrine where a peacock resides, so pay a visit. It is a very cute and sexy handsome old man. Then, head to Menten for a meal right near the station. Order the Tanuki Udon with plenty of An sauce, fried tofu, green onions, and ginger. Kyoto's Tanuki Udon will warm you up. The delicious broth slowly warms you up, and the soft noodles are gentle on the stomach. Help yourself to tea or water. The warm tea is delightful. Choose your own teacup from a variety of options. Order 1.5 servings. 1 serving, 1.5 servings, and 2 servings are all the same price. The Tanuki Udon is 500 yen. Perhaps due to its proximity to Kyoto University, the prices are wallet-friendly. A local favorite where locals keep coming in one after another. There was even a sticker from Kansai TV and a neighboring Living National Treasure. Thank you for the meal.

Men-Tei is a udon restaurant located right by Mototanaka Station on the Eizan Electric Railway. The atmosphere of the restaurant, which has been around for many years, is excellent. This place is a udon restaurant, not a soba restaurant. They make their own udon noodles. The restaurant is run by two women, and even when it's full, they work quickly and efficiently. You don't have to wait long for your udon to arrive. This time, I ordered a set of tamagodon and kake udon for 710 yen. When you order, they ask you how many portions of noodles you want, and you can have up to 2 portions for free. The cost performance is amazing. The restaurant has a high percentage of male customers, probably due to the atmosphere. The taste is excellent. The udon noodles have a good texture, the broth is delicious, and the tamagodon is perfectly seasoned. This restaurant is a perfect 100 out of 100 for B-class dining. I personally give it a special B rating.

I wandered along the Higashioji Street in search of dinner. I couldn't find anything that caught my eye until I stumbled upon this place near Motonakata Station. I had been curious about it for a while, so I decided to give it a try. The interior had a diner-like atmosphere with a clean and cozy feel. The menu mainly consisted of udon noodles, but they also offered rice bowls and set meals at very reasonable prices. I ordered the Chicken Katsu set meal with 2 servings of udon noodles. The set meal included a generous portion of crispy Chicken Katsu with sauce, rice, and two servings of udon noodles for only 800 yen, which was quite a deal. The food arrived after a short wait, and the Chicken Katsu had a crispy coating with plenty of sauce. It wasn't exceptionally delicious, but it met the standard of a diner-style meal. The udon noodles in clear broth with tempura flakes and green onions were simple yet delicious. The noodles were soft and slippery, and the broth had a rich dashi flavor that was irresistible. I finished every last drop. This udon restaurant offers a different experience from the popular ones with long lines, providing simple yet tasty dishes at affordable prices. The generous portion of 2 servings of noodles was satisfying, and I left feeling full and content. It was a hidden gem among the local diners, where the udon noodles could stand out as the main dish in a set meal. I was impressed by the quality and quantity for the price. I will definitely visit again.

I had been curious about the udon restaurant near the Eizan Railway crossing on Higashioji Street that I passed by on the city bus. On a holiday afternoon, I decided to go and try it out. They have a monthly special menu, and this month they were offering "Tempura Udon," "Chicken Nanba Udon," and "Zaru Udon." The special promotion was "Beef Curry Udon." I decided to order the "Chicken Nanba Udon." It was a traditional smooth udon, not the chewy Sanuki style. However, it was still quite good. The broth had a traditional flavor and the chicken was also tasty. You can choose the amount of udon noodles you want - 1 serving, 1.5 servings, or 2 servings - all for the same price.

I used to pass by this restaurant for years without paying much attention, but recently a friend mentioned it, and I happened to be nearby so I decided to give it a try. It was a weekday afternoon and the place was not too crowded. I ordered the chicken cutlet set meal and my partner had the kimchi hot pot udon. Both dishes were decently tasty. The noodles were a bit soft. The chicken cutlet was very satisfying with the rice. It was affordable and we left feeling full. It's the kind of place I might visit if it's nearby, but I'm not sure if I would make a special trip to go there.

It's delicious. The seasoning is just right for older people. The dashi is delicious, so whatever you order, it never disappoints. The menu is extensive, and there is a different monthly special menu. The amount of udon is available in small, medium, and large portions, all at the same price, which is fair. I always order the medium parent and child udon. Highly recommended. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the personality of the owner are very gentle, with a style of not taking orders on paper. It seems like they don't remember who ordered what, and sometimes rely on customers to self-report what they ate at the checkout. It's a down-to-earth restaurant, and I really like that. Of course, I don't lie. As it's udon, the cost performance is also very good. You can get a full stomach for 600 yen. The restaurant is easy to enter, so if you're nearby, be sure to stop by.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. As I entered, I saw a sign saying that you could get a free extra large portion of noodles up to two servings. My heart was filled with excitement as I stepped inside. The interior had a typical diner-like atmosphere. After thinking for about 5 minutes, I decided to order the curry udon with meat and rice set, with the extra large portion of noodles of course. After a 10-minute wait, my order finally arrived. The price was 650 yen. My mouth was watering. The taste was... average. Not too spicy. I am a sweaty person, so sweat was pouring out of every pore of my body (not meant in a dirty way). My friend was laughing. There was a TV in the restaurant, so eating while watching it made me feel like I was back home. The owner seemed kind and likeable. In conclusion, you can get up to two extra servings for free, and the prices are cheap, so the cost performance is good. The taste is average, so don't expect too much. *This is just my personal opinion.*

Located near Motonaka Station, to the southeast of the railroad crossing, is an udon restaurant. They use machines to make the udon noodles, but they are homemade and have a smooth texture. The broth is a light Kansai-style dashi made with kombu, bonito, and light soy sauce. You can choose between one, one and a half, or two servings of udon for the same price! This is a great deal for udon lovers with big appetites. They also offer set meals with tempura, tonkatsu, or other side dishes along with rice and udon, which attract many office workers during lunchtime. The biggest appeal of this place is its cost performance. The two waitresses handle the orders of many big eaters efficiently. (March 2008) Revisited. The meat curry udon has a Kyoto-style broth with a hint of sweetness. It's perfect for cooling down on a hot and humid day after working up a sweat. I overheard a conversation between a customer and one of the waitresses mentioning a recent TV interview and broadcast about the restaurant. However, most customers seemed uninterested, and the atmosphere of the restaurant remained the same as always. This kind of steadfast support is quite impressive. (June 2008)

This is a udon restaurant located near the Eizan Electric Railway Mototanaka Station, which is famous for its million times repeated phrase "Hokkaido". It is a popular spot for local students, elderly locals, and regular customers. The broth is a pure Kansai-style bonito broth, and the noodles are on the softer side. At first, the udon may seem just average and reasonably priced, but after a few visits, you'll become addicted. The delicious broth makes every udon dish tasty. Before visiting this place, I preferred firm Sanuki-style udon, but now I also love the softer noodles here. The thick and gooey udon dishes like "Ankake Udon" and "Tanuki Udon" are exceptional. The various types of "Nabe-Yaki Udon" are also very delicious. The "Curry Udon" is another must-try with its flavorful broth and soft noodles. Although there is no parking available, I recommend those nearby to visit this place multiple times to truly appreciate its offerings.

It feels like a traditional udon restaurant! It seems like these kinds of shops have been decreasing lately. In the northern part of central Kyoto, there are many ramen shops but not so many udon shops, so it's nice to have one like this. Usually, when I go, I'm the only woman (laughs). It seems like it's popular among local men and male students. The prices are quite reasonable, and although they're not hand-made noodles, they're still delicious enough for me. They also have daily and monthly specials that are quite cheap and a good deal! It's great that if you're hungry, you can increase the amount of noodles without the price changing, which is really nice for students. I plan to go there occasionally in the future.
