Near Toji Station, there is a cafe belonging to the Five Branch series. I ordered the Patisserie and the Beef Gyukare Pan. Both are popular items, with the Patisserie being filled with plenty of cream and sweet, while the Kare Pan has a crispy outer layer with just the right amount of spiciness in the curry and large pieces of beef inside. It was very delicious.

This is a shop on the first floor of the hotel! I haven't been to Fiveran, but I'll start with Fiveran Jr! There is an eat-in space, so it's perfect for breakfast or lunch! The staff are very nice, which also made me happy.

Just before 3 o'clock on Sunday. I thought there wouldn't be any left, but surprisingly there were still some. I was lured by the catchy phrase "Gyugyu" and ended up getting a curry bread, along with a pain au chocolat, a Danish pastry, and more. The canelé was a traditional type with a crispy exterior and a chewy interior, and it was delicious.

Visited the popular bakery "Five Branch Junior" near To-ji Temple, a sister store of the renowned "Five Branch" in the Karasuma area. Tried the Honey Cheese Bread (¥180) and Master Salt Bread (¥130). The prices are quite cheap for bread. Upon tasting, the dough was quite light, so maybe not that cheap after all. Both breads had a subtly sweet and soft dough that left an impression. However, compared to the main store, they had a more rustic feel. They were delicious, but if you're expecting the quality of the main store, it might feel a bit different.

During a walk, I discovered a place that was still closed but had a delicious smell coming from it. I couldn't resist peeking inside and found that the prices were reasonable. I returned when it was open and although not everything was available yet, there was a space where you could eat. I recommend trying the freshly made food there.

I stopped by after visiting Kobo-san. It is a bakery on the first floor of a hotel in front of Toji Station. It is a sister store of a highly rated bakery in Kyoto. The taste and appearance of the bread are excellent, making it one of my favorite bakeries. On this day, I used it for dining in and takeout. The drinks are average as they are made from the same machine used in drink bars. However, it has a calming atmosphere, making it a good place for a break. Thank you for the meal.

It is located very close to Kintetsu Toji Station. I found it on my way to Toji Temple. It is a sister store of Five Rands near Karasuma Oike Station. I had it in the eat-in area. Carbonara with eggs, cheese, and bacon for 216 yen (tax included): A large round bread. It was freshly baked and fluffy. The chewy dough combined with cheese, eggs, and bacon was very delicious. Manul bread for 220 yen: Garlic and cream cheese. The description says "a hugely popular bread with long queues in Korea" and it was a delicious taste that becomes addictive. Drink bar +250 yen: I had a hot coffee. It was a genuine coffee brewed by grinding beans. It was very delicious. Surprisingly reasonable prices. Many beautiful breads are lined up. The eat-in space is spacious. I would definitely like to visit again.

[June 2022 Bread Adventure♪] While staying in Kyoto for some food exploration, I wanted to have dinner on a full stomach, so I walked 2km from Shijo Station to Kyoto Station in the morning after having ramen, and then walked another 1km to swim at a public pool near Toji Station to prepare for the night, but the pool was unexpectedly closed due to equipment failure (I wish they would display such information prominently on the homepage!). So, I reluctantly visited Toji Temple in the scorching heat before heading back to Toji Station and found this place...
- Beef Curry Bread (180 yen): With chunks of beef♪
- Potato Salad Bavarian (240 yen): For potato salad lovers♪
- Kyoto Tamba Black Bean Bread (150 yen): For my wife
- Canele de Bordeaux (190 yen): Dessert for my wife
I brought them back and enjoyed them as breakfast bread the next morning. They were delicious~ Normally, it's more convenient to go to the Fiveran branch near Shijo, but if I have business around Toji, I would like to visit again:)
Location: Across the main street from the Toji Station ticket gate exit, go left ===========

I visited the second store of "Fiveran" which opened in April 2021. The "Patisserie" is a classic and delicious choice. The "Overflowing Raisin Bread" was also very tasty with 60% raisins. I will have the "Apple Compote Danish" as dessert after dinner. Located at 54-1 Nishikujojimacho, Minami-ku, Kyoto City, Comfort Hotel Kyoto Toji.

Today, I decided to stop by a bakery near Kintetsu Higashitera Station. The bakery is called fiveran Jr, and it seems to be a branch of the popular bakery "fiveran" located in Sanjo. It opened in April 2021 on the first floor of the Comfort Hotel Kyoto Higashitera. Inside the bakery, there were many different types of bread displayed. They also have a café bar where you can enjoy the bread you purchase in-store. The bread at fiveran Jr is similar to that of its parent store, fiveran. I bought the top three popular breads and brought them home to try.
- Beef Curry Bun: This small-sized curry bun is the most popular item. It is filled with fruity curry roux and plenty of beef, providing a satisfying taste.
- Patisserie: This shell-shaped cream bun, which is the second most popular, has a smooth custard cream filling inside a chewy skin. The texture is excellent!
- Crispy Honey Toast: The third most popular item is made with homemade honey butter. It has a crispy texture, and the honey coating is delicious.
I indulged in the top three popular breads, each with its own unique and enjoyable characteristics.

This is one of the five favorite bakeries in my list, so if you go to Toji, be sure to stop by. The spacious store on the first floor of the hotel is not as stylish as the main store, but it's new enough. There is a cafe space with a self-service drink bar in the back. Croque-monsieur with ratatouille and boiled egg for 240 yen. A sandwich with plenty of finely chopped boiled eggs and a tomato-flavored ratatouille? When I looked it up, it turns out to be a ratatouille that is not stewed. Salt bread sandwich with smoked ham and mozzarella for 200 yen. Topped with black pepper and melting cheese, the ingredients are mozzarella cheese and prosciutto. When baked, the richness of the cheese doubles☆ Croissant with top-grade butter for 160 yen. The 4th most popular item. The lack of crispiness in the crust was a bit unexpected. Croissant amandine for 180 yen. A solid Danish made with hard dough. It has a solid texture with the dough folds left in place, and homemade almond cream inside. Smile melon bread for 150 yen. A popular item recommended by the staff and a pop. Kitano Kaori Yamagohan 1 kg for 216 yen with 10% off. All of these breads are made from domestic wheat. It was a small but flavorful and delicious bread☆☆ I want to support their efforts to reduce food loss. The atmosphere and selection are on the casual side. On a side note, the staff at the front desk of this hotel are very kind♪

A newly opened bakery located in the Comfort Hotel right near Toji Station. It's where Gourmet City used to be. You can eat in or take out. I've bought from here a few times, and my favorite is the Manul bread!! It's the trendy Korean garlic and cream cheese combo that you can get in Toji now - so delicious! The bread itself is also really tasty. I'll definitely be coming back for more! Thank you for the delicious meal! ♡

Located in Minami Ward, Kyoto City, this is the sister store of Fabrique with a cafe for added convenience. They offer a wide variety of sweet breads, sandwiches, and open sandwiches. Their Yudane Mochimochi (shokupan) is priced at 260 yen for 1 loaf, known for being sweet, fluffy, and chewy. The bread has a soft crust, making it easy to eat as is. Their Baguette (small) is priced at 120 yen, with a firm and chewy texture that is perfect for making sandwiches. I regularly purchase whole grain breads and simple ingredient breads from here. The prices are reasonable and easy on the wallet. They also offer shell-shaped cream puffs and canelés, making it a great spot for a short break.

I really like the Minami Kaikan cinema near Toji Station. It used to be located a bit further away and was a former strip theater turned cinema that showed niche films not typically featured in larger theaters. I was a member for a long time and they even had stage greetings, making it a great cinema. It temporarily closed down but reopened in a new building. After watching a movie, I parked my car at a coin parking near Kyoto Station and walked to a hotel near the station where there was a bakery on the first floor. I decided to get some pastries to take away, including a shell-shaped pastry with cream inside for 150 yen, a berry crumble pastry for 180 yen, a salted bread for 120 yen, and a walnut levain bread for 240 yen. The pastries looked delicious, but they did get a bit flat on the way home. The bakery also had a variety of deli breads. I also saw a popular Korean garlic bread that I plan to try next time. The movie I watched was about a mother raising her middle school son while dealing with overwhelming challenges. The lead actress, Machiko Ono, did a great job. I left the cinema with a mix of emotions and my arms full of pastries.

I arrived at the bakery on Sunday morning. There was no line, but the shop was quite full. They were out of baguettes. When I asked the lady in the kitchen, she said they had just finished making some. I informed the cashier, and I received the hot baguette along with other items at the register. It was a good service. The bread is delicious. The apple bread and Earl Grey cream bread are tasty.

There is a cafe space on the first floor of the hotel. I bought seasonal vegetables and coarsely ground meat (280 yen), a crispy onion and shrimp mayo tartine (240 yen), a thin-skinned red bean paste bun (150 yen), a coarse red bean paste bun (130 yen), and an apple pie (300 yen). In addition to stylish bread, there are also pastry-like buns available, making it a great place for everyone to buy or eat on the spot.

I stopped by around 3:30 during my walk. The bakery seemed to have a good selection, even though it was a bit late. I bought an apple bread this time, and it was amazing! It had a rich half-cut apple topping with cream on sweet bread. It was easy to eat, not messy, and I could really taste the texture of the apple. Thank you for the delicious treat. When I visited, the display was divided into individually wrapped and unwrapped items. It seems like they want to showcase freshly baked goods in the store. There was hand sanitizer at the entrance, but no acrylic dividers in the eating area. Their COVID-19 measures seem a bit inconsistent. Located on the 1st floor of Comfort Hotel in front of Kintetsu Toji Station, opened on April 8th.

I stopped by this place as it had been getting some buzz even before its opening. They have various brands like Bran Bakery and Petit Bran, and seem to be expanding rapidly. At the entrance, there was an automatic hand sanitizer spray, and the checkout was self-service, which is becoming more common these days. The bread was not individually packaged, which was a bit surprising. I tried the Patisserie Cannele Cheese Danish and added a drink from their drink bar. The variety here is impressive and the prices are reasonable. I think everything here is good quality. They use domestically produced wheat. The drink bar was like something you'd find at a family restaurant. The seating area is mostly stools, but it's fine for a quick bite. Interestingly, this place turns into a bar from 6 pm onwards. That's why there are chairs set up at the display tables, which I assume turn into dining tables. The atmosphere is kind of early American. This area has been tough for new cafes and restaurants to break into, but this place might be useful as a spot for a quick break, as there wasn't really a cafe like this around here before.

Opened on April 8th! While taking a walk to have lunch at "Tonda," I stumbled upon a bakery that had just opened. It turns out to be a new concept store from the popular shop "Fiveran" in Karasuma Oike. I was delighted! For lunch, they offer a bakery and cafe (bread + drink bar for 220 yen, with salad included, among other options). In the evening, they have a highball bar as well. I couldn't resist and bought some bread, even though I had just eaten. I purchased: egg, cheese, and bacon bread for 200 yen, smile melon bread for 150 yen, patisserie for 150 yen, red bean paste bread for 150 yen, and berry and cheese Danish for 240 yen. In total, I spent 895 yen for 5 items (plus 5 yen for the bag). Despite their small appearance, the bread had a substantial weight and a rich flavor that left a lasting impression. It was delicious! Next time, I'll try their sandwich bread and maybe even visit the cafe. Thank you for the meal! The location is on the left side of the Comfort Toji building in front of Kintetsu Toji Station. The cafe is open from 9:00 to 16:00, closed on Thursdays. The bar is open from 16:00 to 22:00, with no regular holidays (please confirm evening hours due to the pandemic). With great taste, name value, and location, this place is likely to become popular soon. When I visited, there were only 2 groups of cafe customers and one other takeout customer. As there is currently no website and no mention at the main store, it seems like a hidden gem right now.
