This is a cozy home-style diner run by a group of middle-aged women. They offer a variety of set meals, with some side dishes available as well. It's not an izakaya, but a regular diner. They have great deals for both lunch and dinner. The daily lunch set is popular among customers. I tried the sashimi set, which for an additional 400 yen, upgraded to a slightly fancier version with the daily sashimi selection. The set meal was quite generous with tempura, simmered mackerel, cold tofu, sashimi, pickles, rice, and miso soup. The overall taste was delicious. It's a great place with good value. Thank you for the meal.

Closed on Thursdays and Fridays. I entered around 12:30 PM. Three local ladies were leisurely enjoying their meal. I ordered the daily special for 850 yen. It arrived in about 5 minutes. It was quick! The miso soup and pickles were mediocre. The tuna sashimi was slightly frozen. The flounder tempura was delicious. While the quality wasn't exceptional, I was satisfied with the content for 850 yen.

This time, I went to "Shouraku" located just a short walk east from Eizan Electric Railway Ichijoji Station. I decided to come here because I wanted to finish up near the station and because of the variety of dishes on the daily special menu written on the blackboard in front of the restaurant. The daily special menu included simmered fish with konjac and small taro, grated yam, deep-fried tofu, sashimi (sea bream, squid, tuna), white rice, seaweed soup, and pickles. I was satisfied with the variety of the daily special menu and the price was reasonable at 850 yen. However, the seaweed soup was like instant soup. The restaurant had two four-person tables, a five-person counter, and a raised seating area for twelve people. There were posters of Giants players, so I assume that Giants games are shown on TV during night games. Also, the restaurant's regular holiday has been changed to Wednesdays and Fridays. Thank you for the meal. P.S. - There was a good selection of Adachi Mitsuru's manga, including "Touch," "H2," "Miyuki," and "Itsumo Misora."

I had the lunch set meal. I was surprised by the imbalance between the variety of dishes and the price. It included onsen tamago, sashimi, sukiyaki-style simmered dish, fried flounder, rice, miso soup, and pickles, all for 750 yen. The sashimi was decent, not using high-end fish, but it passed. The other dishes were not exceptional, but considering the price, I was very satisfied. The restaurant specializes in lunch sets during the day and operates as a small izakaya in the evening. Perhaps they offer lunch sets at a reasonable price as a way to promote their evening business. That might explain why the place was packed. If I had one request, it would be to not cut corners with the miso soup. It wasn't instant, but it tasted like it was close to that level. I would prefer if they made the effort to use a proper dashi stock instead of relying on instant soup base.
