I visited to see the autumn leaves and the light-up at Toji Temple, which is a 10-minute walk from Toji Station. There was a teahouse right after finishing the autumn leaves viewing route. This place is a must-visit spot to rest and relax. I ordered warabimochi and zenzai. The kelp in the photo was included with the zenzai. Enjoying these sweets while viewing the autumn leaves was truly special. Both were delicious, but they somehow felt extra special. Thank you for the meal!

In Todaiji Temple, there is a sweets shop with many highlights, making it a great place to take a break when feeling tired from walking. I recommend trying their delicious warabi mochi, which is chewy and tasty. Sitting on the traditional tatami mats at Higashike, I enjoyed a relaxing time with a warm cup of hojicha. Thank you for the wonderful meal! \(^o^)/

I was a little tired from walking, so I decided to have something sweet and had warabi mochi at a tea house in Toji Temple. Kyoto is amazing! Why is it so delicious? The texture is firm yet melts in your mouth, which is not commonly found in the Kanto region. Kyoto is incredible!

After the second half of Golden Week, I went sightseeing in Kyoto. I got off the Shinkansen at Kyoto Station and headed straight to Toji Temple. They were having a special opening for the five-story pagoda at Toji Temple, and I was able to enjoy the beauty of Japan with the lecture hall, main hall, and garden. After the tour, I took a break at the tea shop Aun inside the temple. I ordered kashiwa mochi and chimaki with matcha for 600 yen each. When you order matcha, the ladies in the back shake it up and serve it in just 2 minutes. I had the kashiwa mochi. The sweet bean paste was just the right sweetness to go with the matcha. The mochi had a chewy texture and gave me a satisfying feeling of eating kashiwa mochi. It was a bit small, but when eaten with the matcha, it was quite delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality and satisfied with the experience. Let's head to Sanjusangendo next! Thank you for the meal. ★3.5

Departed from Saitama at 2:00 AM and arrived in Kyoto. After visiting Fushimi Inari, how to kill time until hotel check-in? If you don't leave at midnight, you'll get stuck in traffic. But if you leave at night like me, figuring out how to spend time until check-in becomes a challenge. In my case, since I still have some energy left, I focus on sightseeing. Tofuku-ji is the home of my dear MyRebi "Dandan-sai" (*nickname). I leave the temple and exhibition knowledge to you. For my tired body, I found a tea house called "Amanomi". I chose between "hojicha" and "matcha", but matcha is too strong for my exhausted body. So I ordered hojicha and sakura mochi. I'm the type who eats the leaf of the sakura mochi. The owner of my favorite "Chomeiji sakura mochi" says she doesn't eat the leaf. I had two bites of the mochi, relaxed with hojicha, and left Tofuku-ji. Afterwards, I decided to go to the "Honke Daiichi Asahi Honten 3.77" that I reviewed earlier.

On November 7th, the third activity of the day♪(´ε`) Visited Toji Temple, a World Heritage Site♪ This temple has been around since the Heian period in Kyoto♪ Speaking of the Heian period... (´ε`) Alien? I had passed by it before and knew of its existence, but had never actually gone inside♪(laughs) I finally had the chance to visit for the first time♪(´ε`) You can drive right up to the parking lot near the temple grounds (for a fee)♪ The buildings are grand and impressive to see♪ Each building is quite large♪ There are many national treasures to see, giving a feeling like something out of a textbook♪ While wandering around the grounds, I found a tea house♪ It was located near the main hall, lecture hall, and entrance to the five-story pagoda♪ I ordered a set of wagashi and hojicha♪ It was a warm and sunny day, so I enjoyed it outside♪ The soft maple leaf-shaped wagashi was filled with white bean paste... (。>﹏<。) And the warm hojicha was comforting♪ It's time to head home now... Thank you for the meal♪(*´ω`*)(Visited for the first time on 11/07/2021)

I visited Toji Temple for the light-up event and took a break at this tea shop on the premises. I ordered a set of traditional sweets with matcha tea, as well as a set of rice cakes with roasted green tea. I enjoyed my tea while admiring the illuminated five-story pagoda. It was a relaxing break.

In the midst of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, good kids are supposed to stay at home on weekends, but for naughty kids like me who can't sit still at home, I ended up in the ancient city of Kyoto. I visited "MITATE" for lunch in Arashiyama and then went to see the cherry blossom light-up at Kyoogokokuji Temple (Toji) at night. This time, let's talk about the World Heritage Site, Toji. The main hall and lecture hall are open for special night viewing. The main hall houses the main Buddha statue, while the lecture hall contains teachings of esoteric Buddhism. Another important building here is the dining hall, where monks practice their daily activities. But the most dazzling structure here is the national treasure, the five-story pagoda, which is the tallest wooden structure in Japan at 55 meters. The highlight of the light-up event was the "Fujizakura" cherry blossoms blooming against the backdrop of the pagoda. However, the pagoda itself stole the show. Lastly, I stopped by the sweet shop "Aun" for some warm "zenzai" dessert. This day felt like a return to winter, but the warm zenzai was a perfect treat. The World Heritage Site Toji, the national treasure five-story pagoda, the beautiful Fujizakura cherry blossoms, and the bustling Someiyoshino cherry trees made today's visit to Toji unforgettable. And the zenzai at the sweet shop Aun was truly delicious. Thank you for a great experience!

Autumn leaves viewing at the World Heritage Site "To-ji" and of course, we also 【eat】(^O^)/ The five-story pagoda, which has become a landmark in Kyoto, looks most beautiful in the precincts where a tea shop is set up. The red carpet is laid out and creates a very nice atmosphere. The warm weather is very pleasant, so I chose the soft serve ice cream ★ Matcha mix (350 yen). It's such a good deal for a tourist spot, right? The soft serve ice cream handed to me after ordering was... smaller than the sample shown... (-_-;) The taste was not bad, so I didn't mind too much, but the bronze-haired women watching me eat the soft serve ice cream kept ordering one after another, and the size of theirs was... long and slim like the sample shown... (◎_◎;) "Is it 'fitting for their stature'⁉" I thought (laughs). It's unlikely, but... it was right after Minister H's controversial statement, so (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾

I enjoyed the early morning visit to Toji Temple and decided to warm up with some zenzai while waiting for my next schedule. There were three female staff members, but no regular adults, so there was no "welcome" or even a smile. To avoid starting the year off on a bad note, I quickly finished my meal outside without getting warmed up.

Today, I went for a stroll at To-ji Temple in Kyoto after a long time. There are plenty of attractions to see, including the five-story pagoda. I happened to stop by a tea shop on the grounds. Tea Shop: Aun It seems you can enjoy tea while looking at the five-story pagoda. There were red stools lined up in front of the shop. Since it was hot, I had a cold drink. Shaved Ice with Sweet Syrup It's a summer classic drink (^-^) It had a slight sweetness and a taste of ginger. It had large ice cubes in it, so it was cold and delicious. It was a drink that made me feel the summer. I was able to relax while feeling the charm of Kyoto.

I went to Toji Temple to see the autumn leaves. After enjoying the autumn foliage, I decided to have something sweet at this tea shop. Although the chestnut rice cake looked delicious, I was drawn to the "zenzai" for 500 yen (tax included). It was different from what I had in mind (lol). The soup was a reddish color and I thought there would be rice cakes in it, but the soup was more transparent. I could see the red beans clearly. The red beans were very large and the taste was very sweet. I wondered if there was syrup in it because of the sweetness. I was happy to see the salt on the side.

It was not very crowded on this day. I was able to relax and enjoy my tea! It was nice to take a little break with a sweet treat. The view was so nice that I ended up spending more time than I planned. It made me feel very calm. Sometimes, it's important to savor the gentle flow of things.

During my daughter's summer vacation, we took a family trip to Kyoto. On the second day, we visited To-ji Temple. The five-story pagoda is visible from quite a distance. The temple has a vast ground within the city and impressive buildings. I was overwhelmed by the national treasures such as the Buddha statues inside. It's a pity that photography is not allowed. It wasn't even 10 am yet, but it was already hot, so we decided to take a break at this shop. It was cool under the roof. I bought a mix of matcha and vanilla soft serve, which was very soothing. The ladies in the front were eating shaved ice, which also looked delicious. One nice thing about this shop is that you can relax while gazing at the five-story pagoda. It's amazing to think that Kobo Daishi was granted such a vast land within the temple grounds, which shows how respected and expected he was. There were sparrows everywhere, so when I dropped some soft serve, they came and pecked at it. It seems like sparrows come when you eat soft serve. Apologies for my rambling. On my last visit before March 12, I was intimidated by the long line on Shukubo Day, so I opted for a special viewing. This time, I had no trouble entering smoothly, and I was able to enter the five-story pagoda. I was able to admire precious wall paintings and Buddha statues. The lecture hall had a three-dimensional mandala and impressive Buddha statues. It made me feel the depth of history, as it was created by Kobo Daishi. After purifying my mind, I took a break. There was a tea shop at the entrance that I was looking forward to. They had a tempting lineup of soft serve ice cream and Japanese sweets. I ordered hojicha tea for 300 yen, which came with a seasonal Japanese sweet or a fresh sweet. My husband chose the seasonal Japanese sweet, sakuramochi, and I chose the fresh sweet. The long bench with a red carpet was charming, and the presence of a stove was appreciated. The hojicha tea was lukewarm and not very tasty, but the plum-shaped fresh sweet was delicious. My husband said the sakuramochi was also delicious. If only the tea had been better! However, the occasional sight of plum blossoms and the beautiful scenery made up for it. Perhaps the lack of competition among the tourist shops is due to us, the customers. I wonder if we'll take another break when we visit next time. (laughs)

November 1, 2015. We decided to visit the special autumn exhibition in Kyoto, targeting the "Twelve Divine Generals" at Toji Temple's Kando-in. But since we were in Kyoto, we first made a big detour to have lunch near Kamigamo-jinja Shrine before heading to Toji Temple. We left Osaka around 9 am and got off at Kyoto Minami IC to head north towards Kamigamo-jinja Shrine. However, since we were in Kyoto (Part 2), we made another detour to Gijo "Imaishiken" to get some Ohagi before finally arriving at Kamigamo-jinja Shrine around 10:30 am. We first got some "Yakimochi" at Kamimado and then had some Sabazuke at Imaishokudo before visiting Kamigamo-jinja Shrine. Finally, we headed to Toji Temple around 12:20 pm and saw the "Twelve Divine Generals" at Toji Temple's Kando-in before visiting the Kondo, Lecture Hall, and Five-story Pagoda. Upon entering, we noticed a sweets shop right by the entrance! The shop was called "Aun." The menu included Zenzai (500 yen), Amazake (300 yen), Matcha with a Japanese sweet (500 yen), Hojicha with a Japanese sweet (300 yen), and Three-colored Dango (300 yen). This time, we ordered the Zenzai. After a short wait, the Zenzai arrived. It was piping hot and perfect for a cold day. It was sweet and had two pieces of mochi inside. The mochi didn't have a burnt surface, so I wonder if they didn't toast it? Nevertheless, it was hearty and delicious. The salted kelp was also extra salty, which I personally enjoyed. Thank you for the meal. Now, let's go see the Kondo, Lecture Hall, and Five-story Pagoda.

Tea shop located inside the To-ji Temple grounds in Kyoto. It's called "Aun". You can only use it if you pay the admission fee. They offer tea, traditional sweets, and light snacks. You can enjoy your food inside the shop or at the outdoor seating area. Payment is required upfront. I tried the three-color dango with hojicha. It came with two pieces, one warm and one cold. The dango was chewy and had flavors of sakura, plain, and mugwort. It was a decent size and satisfying to eat.
