Just a little down from Horikawa Shimei, right across from Tenjin Park, there is a sign that says "Nepal Indian Cuisine"! I had been curious for a while, and finally went there the other day. The exterior looks like a private house, so you might easily miss it. When you enter, you are greeted by a Nepalese? Indian? style interior, the aroma of spices, and the owner who has been in Japan for 10 years with a very friendly smile. For lunch, there were several options available (see photo), but I chose the 1000 yen set. It included salad, two types of curry, tandoori chicken, rice, and naan. The salad was quite ordinary with cabbage and sesame dressing. The rice was white, not yellow rice. The portion was perfect for women, but might be a bit small for men. The naan was very large and chewy, with a stronger sweetness than any naan I've had before, which I personally really liked. The curries varied each day, with a spicy chicken curry and a sweet curry with plenty of beans and vegetables. At first, I thought the flavor was a bit light, but it grew on me and had a lingering taste. The spicy one was hot but also sweet, which paired well with the sweet naan and was delicious. I also ordered a hot chai after the meal, which was only 100 yen during lunchtime. The total bill came to 1100 yen. The evening menu seems to be quite extensive, with many non-spicy dishes as well, so I would like to visit with my children at night next time. There were also a lot of drink options, and I am very interested in the Nepalese beer. There were about 3 counter seats and 4 four-person tables. You can't see inside from the outside, and there are no menus displayed, so it may feel a bit intimidating to enter, but the inside is clean and the owner is very pleasant, so please muster up the courage to open the door.
