Chewing it, you can taste the flavor, which is completely different from the fluffy tasteless baumkuchen from convenience stores. However, it has little oil and is densely packed, so it absorbs all the moisture in your mouth and feels like it's stuck in your throat. I personally don't like this dense texture, but those who do will probably enjoy it.

1. Purpose of Visit
- Chose this shop as the third stop on the 4th day of a Kyoto trip
2. Shop Information
- Genre on Tabelog: Baumkuchen
- The shop specializes in "Baumkuchen" made by the shop owner who trained in Germany for about 9 years and obtained the national qualification of pastry master
- Business Hours: 12:00 until sold out
- Regular Holidays: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

3. Crowdedness and Atmosphere on the Day
- No other customers around when visited around 13:45 on a weekday
- The shop is marked by a stump sign and prioritizes space for the workshop over the sales area
4. Customer Service
- Service was as per the manual
5. Purchased Items
- Honey Baumkuchen: 881 yen
- While various flavors are available, I purchased the representative item of the shop mentioned above
- The texture is quite firm, and the honey is unevenly drizzled while baking, allowing for different tastes in each bite, making it an interesting product to enjoy. Thank you for the meal.

Last time I came to Kyoto, I wanted to buy Baumkuchen as a souvenir, but when I arrived at the store, there was a sign saying they were sold out for the day. This time, I wondered if it would be different. Along the way to the shop, I called to confirm and was told that there were still products available. Maybe the previous batch sold out quickly, but either way, I was lucky, so I hurried to the store. There was a Baumkuchen sculpture at the entrance. The showcase still had plenty of Baumkuchen. I bought the classic honey Baumkuchen and the chocolate mint Baumkuchen. The honey Baumkuchen came in a large size, while the chocolate mint was in a small size. Although there was a small size available for the honey Baumkuchen, the texture changes depending on the size. As you create the layers of Baumkuchen, you sandwich in the honey. The moist Baumkuchen has layers of honey, giving it a different texture than honeycomb, and it feels like the honey and Baumkuchen are melding together. The chocolate mint has a refreshing mint flavor that pops up here and there. The moist honey Baumkuchen was really good. The larger size enhances the fluffy texture even more.

I received honey balm, sesame and apple, and small chocolate spice cakes. After aging for a week as instructed by the staff, I tried them. The cakes, baked with care and less butter, are all unique with a hint of spice. The spices used are not only European but also Chinese, providing a changing flavor and spice experience every day. I later learned that the owner used to be a pharmacist, which made sense. They also offer seasonal cakes, so it seems there will always be something fresh to enjoy whenever you visit.

When it comes to Baumkuchen in Kyoto, Zoos Vegetus is so famous that I went there! I couldn't find the place and passed by once (lol). There was only one group inside the shop. I had to wait for them to leave before entering. Once you enter, it feels like you have to buy something to leave... I received an explanation about the Baumkuchen and seasonal limited flavors, and bought some for immediate consumption and some as gifts. It seems that the Baumkuchen here is better eaten a few days later! I knew they sold it by weight, but I didn't understand why they would weigh the pre-cut pieces again. If you could choose the thickness or adjust the amount, I would understand, but... it ended up being more expensive than I expected. The Baumkuchen has a firm and solid texture! The taste is good, but if it's the best in Kyoto... I'm not so sure. It's a bit pricey, so if I happen to be nearby, I might consider going again. But I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

First visit. The owner is a pharmacist who trained in Germany and obtained the title of Meister. This time, I purchased three flavors: honey, chocolate spice, and apple with sesame. The honey has a gentle flavor that would be enjoyed by anyone. The chocolate spice, apple, and sesame have quite a strong spice flavor... truly fitting for a pharmacist!! It seems like it's best to eat them slowly. I'm a bit bold, so when I ate them quickly, I got a bit of heartburn (laughs).

I visited the restaurant around noon on Sunday and had to wait for over an hour as there were about 8 groups ahead of me. Since they only allow one group in at a time, the waiting time can be quite long. They have a wide variety of products, so it's best to decide on your choices while waiting in line as it can help speed up the process. I purchased the most basic honey, which was moist and had a heavy texture. It had a light sweetness, a rustic feel, and a luxurious taste that was quite unique.

I have been wanting to visit "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai" since watching it on TV, and I finally had the chance to go. The shop has moved, which has made it more accessible. The interior is stylish and the staff are friendly. The Baumkuchen in the showcase all looked delicious, but this time I chose a classic one. When I tried it at home, I could really taste the certification from a German Meister! The texture and melt-in-your-mouth feeling were excellent, and the lingering honey flavor was addictive. Taste is subjective, but I personally think that the current low rating on Tabelog as of October 2022 is unfair. I definitely want to visit again and support this shop. I had a brief chat with the owner, who was a very lovely person. I will definitely visit again to buy a gift for someone special.

A former pharmacist who trained in Germany and obtained the highest rank of Meister as a craftsman creates one of the best health-oriented baumkuchen cakes in Kyoto. The shop relocated from Murasakino to near the Kyoto Imperial Palace in May 2022, making it more accessible! Takeout options include:
- Honey baumkuchen: ¥600
Made with honey marzipan imported from Germany, Kyoto Uji eggs, unrefined sugar from Tanegashima, and flour from Iwate. The cake is incredibly moist with a subtle honey aroma.
- Chocolate mint baumkuchen: ¥760
Looks like a chocolate baumkuchen but has a strong mint scent that is refreshing and addictive.

There is no parking in this area, but it's a place where a lot of shops I frequently visit are located. One of the shops is a no-additive Baumkuchen store. They have various flavors like honey, blueberry, chocolate, and matcha. The cute branding seems to appeal to women, so I bought it as a souvenir for a female friend, but surprisingly, my male junior colleague is the one who loves the Baumkuchen the most. The size and price are reasonable, making it a convenient and popular choice for light souvenirs. I always enjoy their treats.

In a small shop with a traditional townhouse style and a round sign, I found a Baumkuchen specialty store. Once inside, it felt like I had to buy something before leaving, so I purchased the smallest Baumkuchen available. Despite the high price, the Baumkuchen had a dense and delicious taste.

My friend's favorite Baumkuchen is heavy because it is full of butter and honey, making it moist. It seems to be very popular lately, and I saw a special pop-up store at the Isetan Kyoto section. Made with high-quality ingredients and carefully baked, it is delicious. It has a nice aroma and a hint of liquor. There are also small bite-sized versions available. I shared some with my friends, along with a Christmas card that arrived. I decorated my friend's garden with a holly and set it on a red placemat, wishing them a Merry Christmas♪( ´▽`)

Located on the south side of the Imperial Palace on Ishikawa Street, this is a Baumkuchen specialty store. Upon entering, you will be surprised by the wide variety of flavors they offer! Some of the flavors include: Plain, Special with honey, Baum coffee, Blueberry, Chestnut and buckwheat flour, Bitter chocolate, Chocolate mint, Matcha, and Halloween with a cute baked stamp. The recommended flavor is Blueberry, but since it was my first time, I decided to try the Plain flavor first. The wheat used is southern region flour (Iwate wheat), so it contains almost no glyphosate found in imported wheat. Additionally, there are no additives listed, which is wonderful. The Baumkuchen was perfectly baked with a great aroma, and I look forward to trying the flavored ones next time.

My favorite, located next to Miyukicho, is a specialty store for baumkuchen. It seems quite crowded, so I wonder if it's delicious or worth the wait. It's my first visit, so let's try it out.
**Food Received:** Two types of baumkuchen, one being a classic.
**Ideal Use:** For home consumption, as a souvenir, however you like.
**Satisfaction with Food:** The portion size is small but the taste is good.
**Cleanliness of the Store:** It is well maintained and clean.
**Quality of Customer Service:** There are some issues with the time-consuming system of weighing and selling the baumkuchen.
**Convenience of Parking:** There is no parking lot, so you have to find parking elsewhere.
**Price Attraction:** The portion size may seem small and expensive, but the taste makes it worth it.
**Likelihood of Revisiting:** I might visit if I happen to be in the area.
**Recommendation Rating (out of 5 stars):** 3 stars. The portion size may be small, but the taste is quite good. The classic honey flavor is particularly enjoyable. However, the time-consuming weighing system can lead to unnecessary queues.

Snack time at a friend's house*\(^o^)/* On a drizzly day, four of us enjoyed Baumkuchen. We don't usually eat it, but we heard the shop relocated and became popular. Previously, it was on the way back home, near a sausage and ham shop called Kawakita-ya, and on the route to Kyoto Co-op. Rumor has it that their Baumkuchen, sold by weight, is very delicious. I wasn't particularly drawn to Baumkuchen, but when I tried it, it was surprisingly tasty(((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))♡ Oh my, I've been passing by it for a long time, what a loss\(//∇//)\ The matcha flavor was also good, with a nice aroma. It's simple, moist, and delicious. It might make a nice souvenir too. They relocated to Teramachi Isagawa, a place I often visit, so I'll go buy some again.

I also visited Mairevi-san based on their post. I went there after they had moved and settled down a bit. Even though they are packed in bags, the price varies by weight. Honey 380g costs 2388 yen, Bitter Chocolate 97g costs 737 yen, and Grapefruit and Pink Pepper 105g costs 761 yen. As the staff at the store mentioned, the honey has a thick texture and is delicious. I think a slightly thicker Baumkuchen is more moist and delicious. The other two were also delicious though.

I visited my favorite dessert shop, Zouces Vegetus. They used to be near Kamigamo Shrine, which was hard to get to, but they have now relocated near Assamblage Kakimoto. I bought their classic honey and a barm cake with three types of berries. Each cake is carefully made one by one, so they are a bit expensive, but they are delicious and worth trying.

From the perspective of someone living in the northern part of Shiga, the shop seems to have moved to a more accessible location in the city. The sign of a stump is noticeable from a distance, and the shop has a compact sales space with a spacious kitchen. Even though it had only been open for about three hours, there was only one item left. The honey Baumkuchen, a specialty of Shiga, is usually known for its fluffy texture, but this one was denser. Despite the smaller portion, it still provided a satisfying feeling. The honey is dripped unevenly while baking, so the taste can vary depending on where you eat it. It would pair well with a low-acidity dark roast coffee or milk tea. Since it seems like it could disappear quickly, I will savor it carefully. I was very satisfied.

This is a very delayed post. This Baumkuchen here has a waiting list of over a year. It is a German specialty sold by weight. I tried the plain version. The cute honeybee imprint is accurate as it contains honey. It has a perfect level of sweetness and a moist texture. It is delicious, but maybe not worth waiting for a repeat. My expectations were too high. (^_^;)

I like the solid texture that stands out from the fluffy Baumkuchen that has been popular recently. The Saturday-only "Hashikko" is a great deal♪
