Just before going to Salon de 1904 at the old main building of the prefectural office, I saw a post of the large serving of Tekkadon at Anji Fuchu store on SNS. I was planning to have lunch and coffee at Salon de 1904, but suddenly changed my mind and decided to go to Anji for lunch instead. The narrow entrance with stairs next to the retro Western-style restaurant next door caught my attention, but no, it's Tekkadon time! So I went downstairs to Anji. It was past 1 pm on a weekday and there were a few customers already. I ordered the Tekkadon for ¥1000 without asking about the large serving, as I wasn't that hungry. My wife ordered the daily special fresh shirasu bowl for ¥900. The Tekkadon had thin slices of tuna, but it was delicious without any fishy taste, and there was a decent amount of rice. The fresh shirasu bowl was also tasty, as it has to be fresh to be eaten raw, right? The side dishes that came with it were delicious, especially the konjac and potato oden-like dish. The staff was cheerful and friendly.

In the past, I used to frequent this restaurant at night. The seafood was delicious, fresh, and without any fishy smell, all at an affordable price. It's been almost 10 years since then. Even though the restaurant may seem a bit dingy and unhygienic, I still enjoyed the food without any worries. The taste remained consistent and satisfying. I'm grateful that they offer lunch, and being able to enjoy a seafood bowl from noon is fantastic. While the presentation of the set meal may not be the prettiest, the taste is still great. There was no fishy smell, and it was delicious. Apart from the seafood bowl, there are other menu items like pickled bowl and tuna bowl that I would like to try next time. Despite the unclean interior, I will definitely come back.

I am extremely satisfied! I visited for the first time and had the mackerel miso stew set meal. It tasted like red miso, but it was very, very delicious. The photo is not good, so the actual dish looks much more delicious! There are many other attractive menu items as well. I have visited another branch at night before, and the evening menu is also excellent. For those who love fish, this is a must-visit place.

Today, I received an invitation from a colleague at work and went to a seafood izakaya near the office. The restaurant is called "Anji" and it is known for its fresh seafood. The entrance to the restaurant is located underground on the street in front of the Kyoto Prefectural Office. The interior is decorated with large fishing flags on the walls. We chose to sit in a tatami room. If you arrive before 7:00 pm, you can order a special set menu called "Tipsy Set" which includes sashimi platter, small dishes, and two drinks. We decided to try the Tipsy Set. The set included konjac and potato simmered dish, sashimi platter for two, and after finishing the set, we ordered more dishes. We had a fresh sashimi platter, Anji salad, Nanban-zuke, Ira no aradaki (cooked fish head), Battera (pressed sushi), and chicken karaage as our final dish. We enjoyed a variety of seafood dishes and had a great time.

Today, we had a project launch with my colleagues at a seafood restaurant near Kyoto Prefectural Office. Anji is a seafood izakaya known for its fresh seafood dishes in Kyoto city. We were looking forward to the boat sashimi platter that we had reserved. As we descended underground, we were led to a tatami room. The open-style layout created a lively and bustling atmosphere. We started with a toast for the 100-minute all-you-can-drink course. Soon, a wooden boat filled with sashimi arrived at our table. The boat platter consisted of 7 varieties of sashimi, taking up the entire table. It was a satisfyingly generous portion. In addition to popular fish like salmon and yellowtail, there were also unique options like filefish that we don't typically have as sashimi. Each piece of sashimi was large and delightful to eat. I tried the salmon first, which was rich and delicious. The hokke (Okhotsk atka mackerel) was impressively large and fatty, making it a flavorful choice. We also enjoyed the simmered fish head and the crunchy burdock root on the side. Other dishes like nanban-zuke, tempura with moroko fish and seasonal vegetables, and minced meat sushi were also delicious. We savored a variety of dishes and before we knew it, two hours had passed. We finished off with a comforting bowl of soup. Overall, we had a great time indulging in a wide array of seafood dishes, with the highlight being the boat sashimi platter.

I went to the izakaya Anji Fuchomae store for lunch alone on the 13th. I only had less than 20 minutes, but I managed to get lunch. It was my first visit, but the owner and staff were very friendly, and I enjoyed the seafood bowl while chatting a little at the counter. There was a miniature boat made of five-yen coins and fifty-yen coins in front of me. I got permission to take a photo. The rice was delicious and the atmosphere was nice, so I would like to come back at night if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

Today's lunch was at a seafood izakaya near the Kyoto Prefectural Office. Seafood Izakaya Anji is a chain of seafood izakaya restaurants in Kyoto that serve fresh fish directly from the fishing port. The store near the prefectural office offers lunch, and it is located underground with a traditional izakaya atmosphere and many seats. I chose the seafood bowl set from the lunch menu, which came with side dishes, pickles, and miso soup. The tofu with sesame oil was a unique touch. The seafood bowl set included yellowtail, sea bream, tuna, salmon, fatty tuna, and whitebait, all generously topped with wasabi. I was pleasantly surprised by the fatty tuna. It was a delight to enjoy a fresh seafood bowl like this for lunch!

I had some errands nearby and decided to have lunch with a friend around 1:30. We stumbled upon a restaurant located underground that seemed to offer seafood dishes for under 1000 yen, which looked promising. There were a few customers here and there, mostly nearby office workers, it seemed. I ordered the bonito tataki set and my friend ordered the raw fish bowl. Both were 900 yen each. The food arrived fairly quickly. We got three small side dishes, simmered eggplant, greens, and vinegar-marinated dish. Pickles, rice, and miso soup were also included. The raw fish bowl was a bit strongly seasoned but decent. The tataki had 5 slices and was satisfying. The location was convenient, and I would like to visit again if I have the chance. It seems like the restaurant is also used for office parties at night. Thank you for the meal.

Visited this restaurant on a night during my day of moving around Kyoto. Couldn't find any places to have a light drink near my hotel, but stumbled upon this place while wandering around. Went down the stairs and found the restaurant! The staff greeted me warmly and the interior was clean and pleasant. Ordered a variety of dishes including oden, fried chicken, potato salad, rolled omelette, salted fish roe, grilled saury, fried squid, and various drinks. Each dish was carefully prepared and served promptly. It was a fun and enjoyable place to drink and laugh in Kyoto. I would love to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the meal!

I forgot to take a photo... what a shame. For lunch, they offer various set meals and rice bowl sets. If you order a set meal, you can get free rice refills. I recommend the Miso Grilled Mackerel Set Meal. It comes with two pieces of mackerel covered in a sweet and slightly sticky miso sauce. The mackerel is tender, juicy, and well-cooked. It goes perfectly with the white rice. The lunch feels like a casual izakaya experience, nothing too extraordinary, but I like the consistency. Since it's located underground, you might not get good cellphone reception.

It was delicious♪ Goes really well with Japanese sake.

And so, revisiting! Just a few days ago I went, but I was craving the taste of the mackerel miso stew so I came back. It's still delicious. The white rice is delicious too. Delicious delicious delicious delicious.

The seafood was delicious. It's just a shame my stomach wasn't feeling well.
