It is a Kyoto catering service that delivers obento and bento boxes when reserved. They also provide a delivery service where staff will come to collect the containers and tableware afterwards. They are often used for ceremonies and events. The basic menu consists of Japanese cuisine. I also had lunch at the restaurant and tried the tempura set meal, which was delicious with various types of dashi used in the dishes.

A quietly standing Japanese restaurant in the residential area of Imadzu. The location is just off Goin-dori (a street connecting Shijo-Omiya and Senbon-Sanjo), heading south from Boccho-dori. I often pass by this street, but it blends into the surroundings so well that I never noticed it before. On this day, I went for lunch. The lunch option is a "Tempura set meal (1080 yen)" with only one type available. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The tempura set comes with rice, miso soup, dashimaki, small side dishes, and pickles. All of this for only 1080 yen, what a fantastic value! The tempura included shrimp, white fish, eggplant, shishito pepper, pumpkin, and around 7-8 other varieties. They were crispy and delicious. The dashimaki was made with a gentle dashi, and the miso soup even had ingredients like conger eel and yuba, typical of Kyoto. Finally, coffee was served. Although the menu mentioned dessert, only coffee was served that day. The owner mentioned that they might have made Americano because they brewed it quickly, but it still tasted good. The portion size was satisfying, and it was a great value for everyday use. For dinner, they only offer omakase courses (4000 yen, 6000 yen, 8000 yen). They seemed to have a limited selection of alcohol, but I might visit on another occasion.

It had been about 10 years since my last visit. My mother wanted to go to the Gion Festival, so we decided to visit Tanmiya for eel cuisine in Kyoto in July. We ordered the Chef's Choice Course B. The appetizers were beautiful and delicious, making me happy! The eel and junsai soup was light and fluffy. The sashimi, grilled eel, sea bream and somen soup, eel shabu-shabu, and rice were all delicious. For dessert, there was a caramel mousse, I think? I was so engrossed in conversation that I didn't pay attention! (laughs) Everything was delicious. We enjoyed our meal slowly and thoroughly. Thank you for the feast!

I visited this restaurant for the first time in a while for a night banquet, and the female owner was just as friendly and fun as I remembered. This time, at the request of an important guest, we tried the lunch set, which included a variety of Kyoto-style dishes such as tempura, simmered dish, and rolled omelette. The highlight for me was the clear soup with conger eel and yuba, which perfectly captured the essence of Kyoto's summer. It was a light and flavorful dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. I even had seconds of rice, and the meal was complete with coffee afterwards, all for just 1000 yen. Overall, it was a great value for the quality of food and service.

【July 2012】We started offering a tempura lunch for 1000 yen. It's cheap and a great deal! The portion is just right for women in their 40s, and the quality for the price of 1000 yen is amazing. For those who find the portion insufficient, rice refills are available. 【February 2012】Once again, visited with family. This time, my father treated us as a celebration of the completion of renovation work. As always, we had a fulfilling experience. This time, we had two types of chilled sake. One was called "Yoshinokawa," I think. The other one I forgot. They were quite delicious, filled generously in the glass and cost around 700-800 yen each. I started with a 1000 yen Daiginjo sake for the first glass. It was a great celebration. 【January 2012】This is a super local restaurant. I first set foot in this place in my late twenties, despite seeing it on my way to school since childhood. At that time, the company I worked for was near my house, and we visited the second floor for a company party with a large group. Back then, my palate was still immature, so I didn't appreciate the deliciousness of Japanese cuisine or sake. My naive impression at that time was just "There is a high-class restaurant in the neighborhood." About ten years later, I revisited with my parents for our year-end party. We had a 6000 yen course at the counter. Since it's a local place, my parents were familiar with the proprietress and her husband, chatting and enjoying various stories while savoring delicious sake. The course included sesame tofu, assorted appetizers, sashimi, soup, grilled mackerel, kaburamushi (made with nagaimo), fried dish, rice with pickles, and dessert. The content was amazing, the portion was generous, and I was very satisfied! Every dish was delicious, and I kept enjoying Japanese cuisine with sake. My parents were already full around the grilled and fried dishes, and the proprietress kindly offered to pack the remaining food for takeout. We spent a relaxing three hours with three people, drinking sake and beer. The total bill was around 24000 yen. With a 6000 yen course per person including drinks, it was about 8000 yen each. I don't usually go to such restaurants, so I don't have much to compare in terms of Kyoto cuisine, but I think this content at this price is quite a bargain! If I have to mention something, Boccho-dori doesn't have as much charm as Gion, and for those who come from outside, the scenery and location might lack the elements to enjoy Kyoto. The place is in a downtown area, but if you head a little south, you'll find Mibudera, and if you go north, there is Mibu's kitchen called Sanjo Shotengai. It feels like I'm promoting the local area, so I apologize, but it's such a delicious restaurant. I hope many people will visit (*^_^*) Finally, a little promotion from my family. When you come to Tanya by car, please park at Shijo Garage. Parking is free for up to 2 hours. (Sorry, this is a complete advertisement. Please forgive me and just laugh it off as a daughter who cares about her family <(_ _)>)

This time, I had this bento box during a work meeting. It turns out this is a restaurant I had bookmarked before, so it was a pleasant surprise. The bento box had a Kyoto-like appearance, which was nice. The contents were like a Kyoto-style kaiseki meal. The flavors were Kyoto-style, but the grilled dishes had a slightly bold seasoning. The detailed seasoning of the vegetables and the presentation showed a high level of skill. After trying this bento, I definitely want to visit the restaurant itself.

This restaurant is located in a normal town slightly above the famous Mibu Rousokan site associated with the Shinsengumi. They started as a catering business (and still offer catering services) so they don't do anything fancy, but the taste is reliable. Starting with pickled ayu fish, they offer an 8-course meal including soup (mud loach steamed in a clay pot!), grilled dish (grilled mud loach!), small pot (mud loach hot pot!!), main dish, and dessert (soy milk and pumpkin pudding) for 4000 yen, which is quite impressive. The quality of the mud loach may not be as high as in high-end restaurants, but the cost performance is very good and satisfying. The atmosphere of the restaurant is casual and not intimidating, with jazz music playing and relatively bright lighting. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making it easy to enjoy the meal without feeling pressured. I was lucky to find this place in Kyoto for a special occasion. Personally, I think the pickled vegetables served with the meal are delicious, but adding some originality would be nice, although that's just a minor suggestion. The menu changes every 10 days, so I look forward to what they will offer next time.

I found a Kyoto cuisine bento box by "Tanya" at Kyoto Station underground. It includes lotus root, rolled omelette, Kyoto eggplant, ganmo, and rice topped with dried young sardines. The dishes have a delicate and elegant appearance with light colors, typical of Kyoto cuisine. Each item is subtly flavored and meticulously made. It feels luxurious to enjoy such quality in a bento box.

Returning from Toyohashi, part 3 of my Tabelog activity. I actually wanted to eat something at Kyoto Station before heading back, but as mentioned in part 2, due to the timing of my reserved seat for the return trip, it seemed impossible to sit down for dinner at a restaurant. So, I decided to buy a bento box to take home. Although I couldn't find any of the registered restaurants within the station premises, I will keep it as non-regular use. Apologies if I missed anything. Among the various bento options, I wanted something light and Kyoto-like, so I chose one from Tanya-san. I arrived home around 8 pm and immediately indulged in the meal. The rice was a bit cold and had been sitting for a while, but it was within an acceptable range. Unlike the typical makunouchi bento, this one had dried baby sardines instead of pickled plums. Each side dish seemed to be carefully prepared, with the eggplant being peeled perfectly and the rolled omelet having an elegant taste. The pumpkin was intricately cut, and the sweet potato was colored with kuchinashi, giving it a yellow hue. It felt like every dish had received special attention. The light flavors of the ingredients shone through, making everything delicious. Although it seems challenging to visit the actual restaurant, I now have a desire to try their freshly made dishes.
