I visited on Thursday, September 7, 2023 for lunch. It was crowded as it is a food court, but this shop didn't seem too busy. I ordered the "Classic Sauce Yakisoba" with extra noodles from the LUNCH TIME MENU. I sat at the counter and placed my order. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to arrive. It was served on a hot plate, which was quite distinctive. After taking a bite, I found that the sauce was rich in flavor. The extra noodles were definitely worth it as there was a good amount. The portion of ingredients was also generous, leaving me feeling quite full.

I have been visiting the Kyoto Tower Sand store for several days in a row (lol). Today, I tried the yakisoba and highball pack. The store was quite crowded today, more than yesterday. I have visited the Nishii store of Yakisoba and Highball Pack several times before, and I really like the volume, flavor, and how the yakisoba is cooked there. Today, I had the special yakisoba of the day, which was the seaweed cream yakisoba (900 yen). You can get a large portion for free. The visual with plenty of seaweed on top is very appealing. Even though it may look like there isn't much, there is plenty of noodles all the way to the bottom with lots of ingredients. The combination of seaweed and cream was good, and the seasoning was just right. After finishing it, I was completely full. The yakisoba at the Pack store is always delicious. It's fun that they have different daily specials, and I would definitely like to visit again when I'm in the mood for yakisoba.

Drinking at the second place in front of Kyoto Station, we went to Paku-san located in the basement of Kyoto Tower HOOD HOOL. It's a yakisoba and highball restaurant. I thought of just having drinks, but since we were there, we also ordered yakisoba. We ordered the Carbonara Yakisoba, which is a completely different menu. I tried it, but the noodles didn't have the firmness like pasta. It felt more like slightly stretched thick somen noodles. It might not really feel like yakisoba. Our purpose was to chat while drinking, not to eat, so it was fine for that, but if the purpose was to eat, it might be a bit off. Thank you for the meal.

I heard that a new yakisoba restaurant opened at 1 o'clock on Sunday. I stopped by on my way back from Kyoto AEON. The store used to be a donut shop. They were currently holding a beer festival, so I bought a Kyoto Brewing's Hakujitsumuchu beer and waited for the yakisoba. The classic sauce yakisoba was available in a large portion for the same price. The plate felt a bit small, but maybe it's because it's a large portion? It was served on a hot plate, so I could eat it while it was still hot. I might try the salt yakisoba next time. I'm also quite interested in the Neapolitan yakisoba and Carbonara yakisoba, even though they are only available on certain days of the week.

Second stop on the food hall tour at Kyoto Tower's basement floor was at Yakisoba and Highball PACK. I was initially considering going for something simple, but the name of the dish caught my attention - "Yakisoba with Salted Kombu Aroma". It looked delicious. For safety reasons, the hot plate was just for decoration, and the ingredients included shiitake mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, shiso leaves, kaiware radish, cabbage, bean sprouts, and more. It had a refreshing taste, but the grassy flavor was a bit strong. The noodles were on the dry side, making it a bit difficult to eat without a drink. I should have just gone with regular sauce yakisoba.

This is a new restaurant in the renovated Tower Sand Food Hall. They offer a variety of flavors, including daily yakisoba. Today, I tried their signature dish as recommended on their website. It was a bit oily for my taste, but surprisingly went well with the beer I was drinking. I think citrus highballs pair particularly well with their dishes. The noodles were chewy and coated well with the rich sauce. Thank you for the meal.

This is a new restaurant that opened in the food court below Kyoto Tower. In addition to classic sauce yakisoba and salt yakisoba, they also offer a daily special yakisoba. For lunch, you can get a free extra serving of noodles. On Fridays, the daily special is a tantan-style yakisoba. The noodles are chewy, stir-fried with meat miso and Chinese cabbage, topped with white leeks. Before serving, they sprinkle Sichuan pepper generously, but it's a bit mild. I wish they would sprinkle more to make it more numbing. The meat miso is also mild in flavor and spiciness. Overall, I prefer it to be a bit stronger. Since they just opened, the staff's service may still be a bit hectic.

KYOTO TOWER SANDO, located from the basement 1st floor to the 2nd floor above ground of Kyoto Tower Building, reopened on 4/22 (Sat) after renovation. Seven popular shops from Kyoto Prefecture, including a traditional Japanese sweets cafe and a dessert shop, have newly opened. The cafe area has been expanded, and a space with public art installations has been created, making it a place where you can encounter the "now" of Kyoto. One of the shops we visited this time is a popular izakaya in Nishiin, known for its yakisoba made with specially ordered fresh noodles boiled upon ordering. The menu includes:
- Sauce Yakisoba (800 yen) ← Ordered
- Salt Yakisoba (800 yen)
- Weekly changing Yakisoba (900 yen)
- Original Yakisoba Donburi (800 yen)
- Seseri and Cabbage Black Pepper Yakisoba (900 yen)
- Kombu Yakisoba with Sansho (900 yen)
The Sauce Yakisoba, Salt Yakisoba, and Weekly changing Yakisoba are lunch specials (11:00-15:00) with free extra noodles! The chewy medium noodles with a punchy sauce seemed like a perfect match for a highball, just as the restaurant's name suggests.

On April 22nd, Kyoto Tower Sand had its grand reopening. I visited the place and checked out the new restaurants on the underground floor. One of the new additions was PACK, a yakisoba specialty restaurant from Nishin. They serve yakisoba cooked on a hot iron plate with fresh noodles. I ordered the classic sauce yakisoba, which was rich and flavorful with plenty of cabbage and pork. The noodles were chewy and satisfying, and the portion was generous. Overall, it was a delicious and filling meal that I enjoyed.

The classic sauce yakisoba for 800 yen. The noodles are thick and the sauce coats them well, making it a very delicious yakisoba. Perfect for pairing with beer.

Kyoto Tower Sand has been renewed, and it seems like they have a restaurant serving yakisoba and highball. I tried their classic sauce yakisoba. The noodles were thick and chewy, and the teppanyaki plate was stylish. It was quite delicious.
