I visited a BAR in Pontocho after dining on a cool veranda. It was a lovely place with a touch of Kyoto's taste, and the matcha cocktail was especially delicious. The price for a shot was around 1,500-1,600 yen, and the serving size was a bit small, but it might be worth trying different drinks. Thank you for the meal.

An authentic bar in Kyoto that you must visit. The tea-related cocktails are all delicious, and the private rooms have a serene atmosphere reminiscent of a tea room. The counter overlooks the Kamo River, providing a peaceful sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of Kyoto's tourist crowds.

After finishing our meal at Yamagencha, we returned to the hotel for a short stay before departing the next morning in Kyoto. Despite the light rain, we decided to venture out. We headed to Kiyamachi Street, where we saw many foreign tourists. It was reassuring to see the economy recovering. We tried visiting a bar with a riverside terrace that we had been to before, but it was closed due to the rain. However, we found another bar that was open and had a lovely atmosphere with a view of the Kamogawa River. I ordered a seasonal plum fruit cocktail, which was good, but for the second drink, I opted for the citrus one my husband was having because it was delicious. We savored our drinks slowly, making the most of our time. It was a wonderful evening.

Kyoto's nights close early, don't they? I was looking for a bar in Pontocho, and almost all the shops were closed. I was feeling lost, but I decided to enter one and it turned out to be a great choice. The view of the Kamo River was just at eye level and the atmosphere was fantastic! I had a kiwi cocktail, which was easy to drink with a juice-like taste. The bartender was very friendly and easy to talk to. It was a great experience!

It's in Kyoto. Located in Shijo, Kawaramachi. It's the 3rd or 4th building up from Shijo Street, on the Kamogawa side. The entrance of the restaurant is a bit hidden with a small white curtain, so you might miss it if you don't know it's there. The lantern with the restaurant's name outside is the main sign. Once you pass through the curtain and go downstairs, you'll find the entrance. There's a sensor on the stairs, so when you stand at the entrance, a slightly eerie buzzer sound goes off. Inside, there's a long counter and some semi-private table seats in the back. I've only sat at the counter, so I'm not sure about the table seats. Depending on the day, there are different bartenders, but they are all experienced and make you feel comfortable. On this day, there was a young female staff member who was very helpful and friendly. I was recommended a drink I usually have here, but I decided to go for a Gin and Tonic to change things up. It had a strong lime flavor and was just the way I like it. For the second drink, I had a Whiskey Soda, which was also delicious. Simple drinks like these that match my taste make me happy. Outside the large window behind the counter, you can see the Kamogawa River. It's a great place to relax with good company. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Kyoto.

"I visited a bar where you can enjoy the 'Fake Electric Blanc' featured in 'The Night is Short, Walk On Girl.' I had been wanting to try this 'Fake Electric Blanc,' so when I had the chance to go to Kyoto, I stopped by. The atmosphere inside the bar was quiet and very pleasant, and I sat at the counter where the bartender kindly struck up a conversation with me. (There are also table seats available.) This bar is also known for its popular fruit cocktails. They use seasonal fruits to make cocktails on the spot, and I was so impressed by how delicious they were. I enjoyed it so much that I definitely want to visit again when I come back to Kyoto. Thank you for the wonderful experience."

This time, I visited Bar Rin located at 173-2 B1F Kashiwayacho, Kamishichiken, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. While strolling around Pontocho and feeling the traditional Kyoto atmosphere, I came across this charming bar. The entrance had a welcoming vibe, reminiscent of a sushi or Japanese restaurant. Upon entering, I was greeted by a cozy interior with a main counter and a view of the Kamo River through the glass. The lighting was subdued, creating a nice ambiance. For my first drink, I tried a peach cocktail which was sweet, but I wished it had a bit more freshness. For the second drink, I opted for a gin and tonic for a refreshing finish. The staff and the master were friendly and engaging, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

At the base of Kyoto's Shijo-Ohashi Bridge, there is a narrow alley leading to one of Kyoto's famous flower districts, Pontocho. Pontocho is lined with Kyoto-style shops adorned with lanterns featuring a thousand-bird motif. Upon entering Pontocho Street, you will find an authentic bar called "Bar Rin To" facing the Kamo River. Descending the stairs, you will enter a chic, modern Japanese atmosphere with counter seats and private rooms. I couldn't resist stopping by for a drink at "Bar Rin To" for my third round of the night. The highball served at "Bar Rin To" was made by a quiet bartender, and as I sat at the counter made from a single plank of wood, I could see the flow of the Kamo River and the Minami-za theater through the large window glass. Despite the late hour, the place was bustling with customers enjoying the cherry blossom season. It was a wonderful bar I stumbled upon in Kyoto's Pontocho district. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this second restaurant to stay in Kyoto, after checking reviews and wanting to go there. The atmosphere was also excellent. The staff's service was wonderful. This time, only table seats were available, but next time, I want to drink at the counter.

This is in Kyoto. In Kyoto, it's located in Shijo and Kawaramachi. After crossing Shijo Ohashi, you enter Pontocho and walk a little further, you will find this shop. Look for the lantern with the shop's name on it as a landmark, then pass through the white cloth curtain at the back to go down to the shop. As you approach the entrance, an unusual bell? buzzer? will ring, indicating that a customer has arrived. However, it keeps ringing continuously while standing in front of the door, which can be a bit annoying. Inside, it's quiet and neat. There is a long counter stretching from the entrance to the back, where you can see a splendid back bar and the Kamogawa River as a borrowed landscape. There are several bartenders, and the quality of the drinks can vary depending on who serves you. The customer service also differs greatly depending on the bartender, with some providing a traditional Kyoto-style service and others not. My rating is based on the impression from visiting when I had a bartender that I got along well with. The scores can vary significantly depending on the timing of the visit.

It was quite good. The atmosphere was nice, and the view of the Kamogawa River from the small window was also good. They have a wide variety of liqueurs, and it seems like they can make anything you ask for. The drinks made with fresh fruits were especially good.

It's still early in the evening, so I decided to walk from Karasuma and find a random open restaurant to grab a bite to eat (it was only until 8 pm). Ended up walking all the way to Kawaramachi, crossing the Shijo Bridge and feeling a bit of Kyoto's charm. It's a weekday, so there aren't many people around, but there are a few touristy couples here and there. Even though Pontocho is quiet, I just want to relax and have a beer while looking at the Kamogawa River. Found a bar where I can do just that, it was my first time here. It's a cozy place where I can take my time. I'll definitely come back here next time.

In the area around the Kamogawa River in Kyoto, there are a series of cooling platforms called "noryoyuka." These are essentially terraces built above the river, designed to provide a cool escape from hot summer days using the cold air from the flowing river below. Noryoyuka can be found not only along the Kamogawa River, but also in other regions, each with their own names. In Kyoto's Kamogawa, they are called "yuka," in Takao they are called "kawadoko," and in Osaka's Kitahama they are known as "kawayuka."
One warm afternoon, I visited a bar located underground a few shops down from the dining establishments along the Kamogawa River, near Shijo Ohashi. This bar offers authentic cocktails as well as non-alcoholic options like meticulously brewed coffee. The cozy interior, fitting for Kyoto, features a single wooden counter, intimate private booths, and a moody atmosphere. One notable feature of this underground bar is its location directly beneath the yuka, offering a view of the Kamogawa River's murmuring waters through a window behind the bar.
On this particular day, I enjoyed a cocktail bathed in the dazzling backlight streaming through the window. I requested fruity cocktails from the quiet bartender, including a vibrant strawberry concoction and a pineapple drink with just the right amount of acidity. Fresh fruit cocktails are a perfect match for this establishment.
Kyoto boasts a variety of bars, but this one with its unique setting is a gem and a must-visit for cocktail enthusiasts. It was a delightful find in Pontocho.

On this day, I took a leisurely stroll through the quiet streets of Kyoto. I think this spring has been really tough for restaurants. Many of my friends are restaurant owners, so I understand the challenges they are facing. While there are various opinions, I have been trying to support restaurants by dining out during the daytime, taking careful precautions. During my exploration, I visited this place. They used to only operate at night, but they recently started offering lunch service after Golden Week.

The bar counter overlooks the Kamogawa River. Towards the back, there are table sofa seats for two people. And towards the entrance, there is a private room that can accommodate about four people. The idea of enjoying a drink while gazing at the Kamogawa River at night seems lovely, but spending time here during the day with a view of the river is also quite charming. The only minor downside is the visibility of the support pillars for the upper floor's riverside deck, which slightly obstructs the view.
I ordered:
1st drink: Non-alcoholic cocktail made with pineapple
2nd drink: Singapore Sling
Initially, I was planning to have coffee before dinner, but the enchanting ambiance of the place and the array of alcohol bottles on display at the counter made me change my mind. The first drink had a sweet and tangy yet creamy taste, while the second one, the Singapore Sling, was beautifully presented. I enjoyed both of them, and the bartender, who resembled the actor Yasuyuki Maekawa (whom I quite like), although reserved, helped create a pleasant atmosphere. It was a delightful experience to spend a relaxing time gazing at the Kamogawa River and feeling the early summer vibes. Thank you for the wonderful time.

It's a bar with a nice atmosphere and easy to use. It's located right after entering Pontocho from the Kawaramachi side. You can sit at the counter and see the river. It has an authentic feel. However, due to its location, there is a cover charge of 1000 yen which can make it feel a bit expensive if you only have one drink. But considering the atmosphere, it's worth it.

A wonderful BAR with a view of the Kamo River. As a beginner in bars, the staff kindly taught me many things and had a lot of conversations with me, so I had a very enjoyable time. The atmosphere and the staff were both very nice, so I definitely want to visit again when I come to Kyoto. I was also happy that the prices were reasonable. Thank you very much!

Sakyo-ku's Bar Rin in Pontocho has a Kyoto atmosphere with a high-class image. It may seem intimidating to newcomers, but this bar is welcoming even for first-timers. There is a 1000 yen charge. The counter is lined with whiskey bottles, and you can see the Kamogawa River from the window - lovely! They have a wide variety of fruit cocktails, so I chose mango. It had a strong mango flavor and just the right amount of sweetness - I loved it! I also enjoy white rum. If you want to enjoy delicious drinks in a Kyoto atmosphere, definitely check this place out!

Located just east of Pontocho and Shijo in Kyoto. Descend underground through a solemn entrance. Inside, you'll find a space with a view of the Kamo River and Gion. I already knew how to drink here. It was great to discover this place at this time of year. This is a bar affiliated with Bar Nostalgia in front of Kyoto City Hall. They made drinks for us based on the novel (anime) "Uchouten Kazoku" by Tomihiko Morimi. Thank you very much for your hospitality. I want to go back again. The drinks we had were Gin & Tonic (Dry), Manhattan, Daiquiri, and Sidecar. #barnostalgia #barNostalgia #UchoutenKazoku #novelbar #pilgrimage #cocktaillovers #drinklovers #barhopping #authenticbar #Kyotobar #Kyotocityhall #Kiyamachi #Kawaramachi #TomihikoMorimi #TomihikoMorimipilgrimage #Shusho #sakestagram #drinkstagram #barLinT #Pontocho #stylishbar

I visited an authentic bar for the first time. It was the perfect place to talk about our futures with a friend. The atmosphere, not overly attentive service, and delicious drinks made it a great night in Kyoto. I want to go back again.
