Opened at 5:00 pm on weekends. The exterior looks like a cafe, while the interior has a beer restaurant vibe with counter and table seating. Stylish atmosphere with only one other customer. Ordered the A set for 1780 yen and the Tonkatsu set for 950 yen. The A set includes Tonkatsu, Ebi Fry, Scotch Egg, Ham, Salad, and Rice. The Tonkatsu had a unique sauce, the Ebi Fry was plump and crispy, and the Scotch Egg was interesting. The Tonkatsu set came with miso soup, salad, rice, and pickles. Both dishes were decent for the price, but a bit oily. The daily lunch specials seem like a good deal, so might try that next time.

I worked on a holiday from early morning, but fortunately finished quite early. I had lunch at the Tsujikawa Higashi restaurant, which has a stylish atmosphere. I had the tonkatsu set meal. There was a large piece of ham in front of me, and next to it was a meatball. It was quite filling. The highlight here was the delicious rice. Located about a 3-minute walk from Kujo Station, my family visited this restaurant on a weekday around 1 pm. The interior had a café-style Western atmosphere, and we were seated at a table. We ordered the daily lunch special (880 yen including tax) and the A lunch set (1280 yen). While Kyoto tends to be on the pricier side, this restaurant was quite reasonable. The waitress was very kind and even engaged with our child. Soon, our meals arrived - rice, miso soup, the daily pork cutlet, and croquette. The pork cutlet was crispy and topped with demi-glace sauce, while the croquette was hot and well-seasoned. Both were fried dishes and went well with the rice. The daily special also came with coffee after the meal, adding to the value. The A lunch set had a generous portion and included shrimp fry, Scotch egg, and tonkatsu, which our child particularly enjoyed. The restaurant will be closed for renovations starting September 14th, but will reopen by the end of the year. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I visited the long-established Western-style restaurant "Restaurant Tsujikawa Higashiten" near Ooishibashi intersection for lunch. It has been loved for over 50 years with its unchanged deliciousness. Originally the East Store of the existing "Tsujikawa Main Store", this place is now the main store. There are acrylic boards for COVID-19 measures on the tables, but you can feel the atmosphere with a retro Showa vibe in the interior. My recommendation is the A lunch set. The aluminum plate adds to the retro Showa feel. There are several side dishes on one plate, so if you want to enjoy a variety of dishes, this one is good. However, it is quite voluminous, so those with a small appetite need to be prepared (laughs). For those who are not confident, the B lunch set is recommended. The tonkatsu with demi-glace sauce, eaten with a knife and fork, is crispy and delicious! And the voluminous Scotch Egg! A Scotch Egg is a Scottish dish where an egg is placed inside a hamburger and fried. The shrimp fry, ham, salad, potato salad, and spaghetti were all very delicious.

I visited Tsujikawa Higashi store for the first time, which I had always been curious about whenever I passed by in my car. Another Tsujikawa in Fushimi is located across from McDonald's down Route 24. This Western-style restaurant offers a variety of dishes such as beef cutlets, chicken cutlets, and more, but for my first visit, I opted for the A lunch set which allows you to try a little of everything. The price was a bit high at 1630 yen for a lunch set. The set included shrimp fry, scotch egg, pork cutlet, and side dishes such as ham, potato salad, cabbage, and spaghetti. The shrimp fry had an open-cut style with a crispy coating that was a bit different. The scotch egg was meatier than I had imagined. I was surprised because I had only tried ones with more coating before. The egg was not quail but chicken. The pork cutlet had a crispy coating and was a fresh experience for me as I was used to breaded cutlets. Among the three, I preferred the scotch egg, shrimp fry, and then the pork cutlet. However, the real winner was the sauce that came with the pork cutlet! This slightly creamy sauce had such a delicious flavor that it could make anything taste good. Next time, I will try the beef cutlet. The parking lot for the restaurant is located south of the building where the restaurant is. If it's full, you can use the coin parking lot just south of it.

Restaurant Tsujikawa currently only has two locations, the Higashi store and Fushimi store, but it used to have its main store near the Higashi store. The son of the Higashi store owner used to run Tsujikawa, which recently closed its doors at the end of August in Kawaramachi. The reason for the closure was to focus on taking over the Higashi store, indicating a change in ownership starting in September. It is a rare combination of a Western-style restaurant and a tobacco shop. The interior has a retro feel with plain tablecloths and slightly dim lighting, while the counter bar at the back is more modern. The prices are considered mid-range, not too expensive but not cheap either. The daily special is reasonably priced at 830 yen, but only available until 2:00 PM. The specialty dish is the Scotch Egg priced at 1050 yen, with an additional 440 yen if ordered as a set meal. The lunch sets include A, B, and C options, with the Scotch Egg available in A and C. Despite intending to order C, the B set was chosen due to a slight shortage of funds. The meal is served on a silver plate, with a large portion of boneless ham and potato salad as side dishes. The minced meatball has a terrine-like texture and a rich sauce, while the pork cutlet is tender with a sweet flavor and pairs well with the demiglace sauce. The ham and potato salad are average, but contribute to the nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall, the meal was satisfying, and the Fushimi store with its larger portions is worth a visit in the future.

It's been a while since I visited Kyoto. I went in search of lunch and ended up at a Western-style restaurant called "Restaurant Tsujikawa Higashi-ten" in Higashi-Kujo. The name of the restaurant is quite unique. Upon entering, I was led to a vacant table. The tables were a bit close together, which may have been a bit inconvenient for the person sitting next to me. I decided to order the chicken cutlet, although they also had a daily set menu with coffee included. After a short wait, the food was served. The fried aroma wafted through the air as the dish was placed on the table. It looked delicious. I savored the chicken cutlet with the original demi-glace sauce. The tender chicken and light breading were a perfect combination, and the sauce made the rice even more enjoyable. The meal also came with potato salad and spaghetti on the side, which served as a nice palate cleanser. The generous portion of rice was a pleasant surprise. This restaurant had a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

Innards shop~ Typhoon No. 19, I offer my condolences. And rugby, congratulations on advancing to the knockout stage! As for the review of Innards, lunch is mostly with my wife. On this day, despite retiring as branch manager, I had to deliver advance documents to the Kyoto branch for remaining work. It was lunchtime. Since the Kyoto branch also takes a lunch break, I had to adjust the timing. I searched for a Western-style restaurant around Kujo and found this restaurant. It looks like a cafe. It has a cafe-like atmosphere. They sell cigarettes next to the entrance. It's not a vending machine, but more like a tobacco shop. I felt a little uneasy. I entered. The smell of cigarettes was overwhelming. My wife's mood was already at minus 100. Innards used to be a smoker, but has quit smoking for a long time. This was quite tough. Over 80% of the customers were smokers. Nowadays, smokers are losing their rights, so maybe these kinds of places are appreciated. For the first time at a Western-style restaurant, I usually go for pork chop or pork steak. My wife chose the hamburger. Innards has high expectations because this shop is a meat shop. I ordered the pork chop set. The menu price for a single item is 1,800 yen, so it's quite expensive for pork. "Please wait a moment," they said, but surprisingly, we weren't kept waiting long before the food was served. I was surprised. The pork chop at Innards was possibly bigger than my face. It had a very thick layer of fat. But, but... it was beyond that. Finally, my wife's expression softened. She prefers a fluffy texture in her hamburger, so the meaty hamburger here was not to her liking. It's not about the taste. As for the pork chop at Innards, the meat was thick but tender. It had a good chewy texture. I'm okay with this restaurant.

The shop was rated 3.09 when visited. I came here craving for a hearty pork meal. The tonkatsu I ordered was impressive in thickness and size. The aroma of the frying oil and lard was irresistible. I first cut into the tonkatsu with my knife right in the middle. Why the middle? Because that's where the thickest part, the koromo, is. As I cut into it, the steam and the smell of the pork rising up was irresistible. The tonkatsu was soaked in the original demi sauce. I then added Worcestershire sauce and tonkatsu sauce. Eating this seasoned tonkatsu by Tsujikawa was just amazing. I enjoyed cutting the huge tonkatsu with my knife and eating it heartily.

Today, I went to dinner with a gym friend at Tsujikawa Higashiten Kujo Oishi Bridge store, a long-established Western-style restaurant near the intersection of Oishi Bridge in Kujo. The restaurant has a retro atmosphere with various Western dishes on the menu, including the famous beef cutlet and shrimp fry. I ordered the C lunch, which comes with spaghetti, potato salad, ham, shrimp fry, scotch egg, and beef cutlet all on one plate. I opted for the version without rice so I could enjoy a beer. My friend ordered the B lunch, which includes tonkatsu, meatballs, and ham. The beef cutlet was tender with a delicious demi-glace sauce, the ham was thick and flavorful, and the shrimp fry was large and crispy. The scotch egg was also tasty with plenty of meat. The portions were generous and satisfying. By the end of the meal, the restaurant was bustling with many customers. It's a popular spot, and the food was delicious.

The taste and cost performance are not great. It's unbelievable that there is no miso soup included in the lunch!

The beef cutlet is excellent! The beef is tender and has no unpleasant smell, even my extremely picky father who is like a picky eater approves of its deliciousness.
