I squeezed through the crowded streets of Kyoto's Arashiyama in the midst of returning tourists and made it just in time for morning hours. Despite the bustling atmosphere outside, the restaurant was nearly empty inside, probably due to the timing. I ordered the "Bacon, Eggs & Thick Butter Toast" from the morning menu. The toast was thickly sliced but the portion size was not very large. Personally, I wished there was a bit more butter on the toast, and the bacon could have been cooked a bit more. By the time I finished eating, it was almost 11:30 AM and the restaurant was even quieter. It felt like a late morning meal rather than an early lunch.

Arashiyama was cold, really cold, but we visited various places and ended up here. The interior of the store was beautiful and clean, with a high ceiling that created a sense of openness. The hot café au lait was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When you think of Kamishima Coffee, you may imagine a stylish cafe in Kobe, but this two-story newly built store is designed to blend into the traditional Japanese house atmosphere of Kyoto. There are power outlets scattered throughout, and each seat at the counter on the second floor has its own power outlet. I saw people actually working remotely or studying here, focusing intently in the quiet atmosphere. You order at the entrance. In addition to the regular menu, they offer unique drinks like the "Uji Gyokuro Milk Coffee" made with Kamishima Coffee's original double-nel drip coffee. But for me, it's this one! The "Iced Brewed Coffee" priced at 660 yen including tax. It's amazing! A true coffee experience! It has a strong bitterness and a rich flavor, almost like black beer. It pairs really well with sweet desserts. One dessert that is a must-try when visiting Kamishima Coffee is the "Jamaican Rum Ball," a hidden gem in my opinion. It's made with Jamaican rum, sponge cake, raisins, figs, all balanced in a chocolate-coated dough. The rum flavor is rich and delicious! The texture is like a sticky sweet potato. The "Ougi Waffle Sandwich" is a substantial treat available only at the Arashiyama store for just 450 yen - so cheap! I chose the matcha and chocolate flavors, and the chocolate on the waffle is so tasty! The waffle is fluffy, filled with rich vanilla ice cream and seasonal jam. The fan shape is cute too. It's a great idea to take it out and enjoy it while exploring Arashiyama.

I'm tired from wandering around looking for souvenirs. Let's take a break with a cold drink until lunch reservation time. The inside of the shop is surprisingly empty, creating a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. The iced coffee is delicious with a strong authentic taste. The iced tea is refreshing with a hint of lemon. It's cooling down nicely, getting ready for the eel lunch ahead. Thank you for the meal.

I think this is a warning from the gods to humans. Now, I heard that a new coffee shop has opened in Arashiyama Sagano and I am very happy. You can have breakfast while walking through the bamboo forest of Sagano.
