After 12 o'clock, Kyoto Station area gets crowded for sure. However, this place is a hidden gem for lunch. It started raining, so I decided to go downstairs early and noticed the unique yellow-green color of the counter and tables. It's rare to see yellow-green as an accent color in a restaurant. It leaves a lasting impression, maybe to make the dishes stand out? The daily lunch menu today includes "Sea Bream and Vegetable Ankake, Side Dish, Red Miso Soup for 800 yen" or "Chicken and Potato Curry for 800 yen". The regular menu offers "Domestic Beef Steak Bowl, Side Dish, Red Miso Soup for 1,000 yen", "Tuna Bowl, Side Dish, Red Miso Soup for 1,200 yen", "Seafood Sushi Rice Bowl, Side Dish, Red Miso Soup for 1,200 yen". I was quite hungry, so I chose both meat and fish (laughs). The bowl size is slightly small, but with free extra rice and red miso soup refills, you'll definitely be satisfied even with individual orders (laughs). First, the fish arrived, "Seafood Sushi Rice Bowl, Side Dish, Red Miso Soup for 1,200 yen". It looked vibrant with shrimp, sea bream, tuna, striped jack, squid, octopus, mackerel, whelk, and egg... I quickly finished it with wasabi and soy sauce, each piece disappearing in no time (laughs). The variety of ingredients is rich, living up to its name of seafood. The red miso soup that comes with it also adds to the satisfaction at this point. And then, the meat! The "Domestic Beef Steak Bowl, Side Dish, Red Miso Soup for 1,000 yen" made its appearance. The contents of the side dish were also changed, perhaps many people order a double portion? Surprisingly, it's a small bowl. It might be aimed at female customers... If you're expecting a large portion, you might be disappointed, so it might be better to order a large portion from the start... The taste is closer to a steak bowl than a beef bowl, but the quality of the meat is clearly high-end. It goes well with the red miso soup with a hint of sansho pepper. Personally, I recommend the fish (laughs). With options for both meat and fish, it caters to those who want a hearty meal. The clear tax-inclusive pricing is reassuring, and they accept cards (although they prefer cash if possible). A satisfying lunch day at this hidden gem, avoiding the crowds.
