After returning from the market, I wanted to eat udon, so I visited this place I saw on Instagram right after it opened. It was written on Tabelog that it was delicious, so I ordered the curry ramen and if available, the Komonoha Don. The curry ramen had a good flavor with bean sprouts, unexpectedly delicious! The Komonoha Don was average. I'll come back when it gets colder.

The customers who arrived around 1 PM on Saturday were a family of three and a man. Perhaps there is a large hospital or company nearby, so it might be busier during lunch on weekdays? There is a TV near the ceiling, menus lined up on the wall, and the place has a nostalgic Showa retro vibe. I love it! When I tried to order the large portion omelette rice, the staff kindly advised me that the regular portion is already quite big, so I ordered the regular portion for ¥750. My wife ordered the parent and child bowl for ¥670. The omelette rice was wrapped in thin egg just like the old days, and it was delicious! Even though it was a regular portion, it was still quite large. The ketchup rice had beef instead of chicken, and it was very satisfying. The parent and child bowl had a fluffy, delicately flavored egg over a generous portion of rice with broth poured over it. It was also delicious. My wife couldn't finish it all, so I ended up eating about a quarter of it. I'm glad I followed the advice and ordered the regular portion of omelette rice. Even though it was my first time here, it felt like I had been coming here for decades. If there was a place like this near my house, I would definitely visit often, both for lunch and dinner.

The nearest station is JR Enmachi Station. A local favorite diner called "Bansei" offers very affordable and generous portions. Their omurice has a traditional appearance, but uses beef which makes even the regular size quite large. Be careful if you decide to get the extra large size. The service at this town diner is also very good.

Today's lunch was at "Bansei" in Nishinokyo, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. It is a diner located down a narrow street, not very noticeable from the main road. They have traditional food samples on display. I visited during an odd time as they are open all day. There is parking space for one car in front of the restaurant, and there is also a coin parking lot nearby. The interior is typical diner style with tables and a TV. The menu only offers noodle dishes and rice bowls, no set meals. I ordered the simple "Tendon" for 680 yen. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, indicating that the tempura may have been pre-fried. The dish looked exactly like the typical Tendon you would see in pictures, with two thickly battered shrimp tempura. The dish was served with a retro touch of yellow takuan. The tempura had a light sauce, and the crispy batter paired well with the rice. This hidden gem allows you to experience the typical diner atmosphere.

The appearance is quite old and has a lot of character. I was a little worried because I couldn't see inside from the outside, but the inside of the restaurant is clean and the toilet is also clean. I ordered the meat curry bowl for 730 yen. The curry bowl was a bit light in color, so I thought it was a mistake, but it was surprisingly delicious. The thick and flavorful sauce was impressive. There is a reason why this restaurant has been around for so long, it's not to be underestimated.

Near Enmachi Station, there is a nostalgic restaurant that exudes a comforting atmosphere. I visited this place near my workplace with no high expectations, but to my surprise, the food was delicious! It wasn't overwhelmingly amazing, but each dish had a familiar and soothing taste. The menu is extensive, and I want to try everything! The restaurant may seem unassuming, but it is definitely worth a visit!
